When it comes to the music awards circuit the VMAs (Video Music Awards) have always been the red carpet where rules don’t just bend, they break. It’s the night where music and fashion collide in the most unapologetic way possible.
As expected this year is no different, a runway of extremes, from ‘bigger than Texas’ hair theatrics to sheer fantasy gowns, each look sparking its own conversation.
This year’s carpet doubled as a stage, where the celebs blurred the lines between costume and couture, performance and personality. Instead of chasing safe trends, the stars have embraced a fearless mix of nostalgia with nod’s to Dolly Parton and J-Lo’s 2000 VMAs look.
Whether it’s Sabrina Carpenter’s high concept glamour, or Lenny Kravitz’s tailored suit, swag. It’s a reminder that the VMAs red carpet reigns supreme in the world of high-concept, avant garde fashion.
Taking place at the UBS Arena in New York, the annual awards show showcases the year’s most popular and visually distinctive music videos. As is tradition, music’s biggest and brightest stars gather, mostly in their most outrageous designer looks, for a memorable night of festivities and live performances.
Hosted by LL Cool J, this year’s awards show will air in the US on CBS. It will also be simulcast on MTV and available to stream on Paramount+ Premium here in Australia.
As the celebrities continue to roll up to the carpet, you’ll have a front row seat to who of the fashion houses are taking precedence. Here we bring you all the biggest style moments from the night.
