Engagement ring trends come and go but the ring (hopefully) stays with you forever. Being such a personal piece of jewellery, its not a surprise that people are starting to lean towards more unique engagement ring styles.

Kate & Kole’s Madalynne Clifton (founder and creative director) and Sara Spence (founder and managing director) say they have noticed a shift anyway from traditional engagement rings and towards something more unique.

“I think with an engagement ring being such a deeply personal and sentimental purchase, people want something that feels unique and authentic to them rather than something that they may have seen frequently in the more classic styles,” Madalynne tells marie claire Australia.

“Whilst these styles still certainly have a place, it’s been amazing to work with our customers to create pieces that they are excited about and feel like something special for them.”

Sara also believes the lean towards more unique engagement rings comes from a modern understanding of relationships and marriage.

“We work with couples who want their ring to truly reflect their unique dynamic, and represent them as a couple,” Sara explains.

“Their relationship may not feel traditional to them, whether they’ve been married before or have been together for a long time before deciding to get engaged, they want a ring that symbolises that.

“We’ve had couples design their engagement rings together and they want both pieces to talk to each other but not be the same, so this can be a really lovely design space to play in.”

Below, we share the unique engagement ring styles gaining popularity.

Toi et Moi

Emily Ratajkowski’s toi et moi engagement ring brought the unique style into the mainstream.

“In more recent years we have had customers let us know they have gravitated towards us because of our unique toi et moi offering, meaning you and me,” Madalynne says.

“One ring specifically is our Duet Ring which we coined to represent a harmony of two stones of the same cut but different proportions coming together.

“The conceptual meanings of these styles imbues these rings with such a romantic feeling and also allows such a wonderful opportunity for our customers to play with pairing different stone shapes to find a combination that feels like the perfect blend of them as a couple.”

Engagement Bands

Some couples are choosing to forgo the traditional engagement diamond or stone for an engagement band.

Lauren Burns, who worked with Kate & Kole on her ring, opted for an engagement band because she wanted “a ring that wouldn’t protrude and catch on everything I own but was still a statement.”

This style also nicely lends itself to the current ring stacking trend.

“Lauren Burns created the most beautiful stack of three pieces, ” Sara says. “A princess cut band, a bold round gold band and a east/west set radiant band. The combination was so stunning and contemporary but didn’t feel forced, it was such a balanced design it worked wonderfully.”

Engagement bands are also nice way to include men in the engagement jewellery experience.

East-West Settings

East-west engagement rings are a controversial style that are gaining popularity.

While a traditional engagement stone is set vertically on the ring band, an east-west setting has the diamond or stone positioned horizontally.

Cigar Band

The rise of chunky rings and cigar bands has trickled into the engagement ring space.

These rings often place a diamond or stone into a chunky cigar setting, as seen in this Kannava Jewels ring, which can be perfect those who lean towards something a little more unconventional.

Vintage Rings

Vintage rings can be a romantic options for those who want something with a history.

For history lovers, it can be fun to find something from your favourite era.

They’re also a more sustainable choice for those who want a natural diamond without the guilt.

Some jewellery carries more than just shine or sparkle—it carries memories. Memories of friendship, of love, and memories of moments that shaped us throughout our lives.

The pieces we choose to wear often become a map of our lives: a ring to mark a milestone, or a necklace gifted in celebration. Jewellery has the rare ability to hold both memory and meaning, and also to grow with us as we change.

And sometimes, the jewellery itself tells a story of evolution—one that spans not just years, but a decade.

Which is why ten years in jewellery design is no small feat. Yet Australian jewellery brand Kate & Kole are embracing the history that got them here.

Founded in 2015 by friends Sara and Maddy, Kate & Kole began in a Newcastle home studio with a vision of creating pieces that are both meaningful and sustainable.

Over the years, the brand has built a reputation for balancing modern values with enduring design, offering everything from ready-to-wear engagement rings to bespoke creations.

Their commitment is perhaps most evident in their milestone 10-year collection, DECÉA.

And DECÉA certainly feels like the most personal collection to date. With ten one-of-a-kind pieces to mark ten years, the collection is a reflection of the Kate & Kole story to date. It is both an archive and a promise: a tribute to the past, and a vision of the future.

For anyone who loves jewellery with story and soul, DECÉA is a reminder of why we wear these pieces in the first place. They’re not just accessories—they’re markers of time, love, memory, and self.

Abby Champion Wore A $560 Dress By An Australian Brand At Her Wedding To Patrick Schwarzenegger https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/abby-champion-wedding-dresses/ Tue, 16 Sep 2025 04:40:25 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1293500 And it was perfection

The post Abby Champion Wore A $560 Dress By An Australian Brand At Her Wedding To Patrick Schwarzenegger appeared first on marie claire.

There was no question whether the eventual wedding of Patrick Schwarzenegger and Abby Champion would be effortlessly chic, but the couple managed to outdo our wildest expectations.

The nuptials were a three-day affair in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, spanning welcome barbecues to rehearsal dinners, all of which called for perfect bridal looks. In Abby’s case, that included a dreamy Zimmerman dress and country-coded lace look from Bec + Bridge.

The former, a dress the American model describes to Vogue as “something out of a dream” was feminine, ethereal and a little flirty (thanks to an asymmetric hem), just what you need for an intimate farm-to-table rehearsal dinner.

Our favourite look of the wedding, however, had to be that of the couple’s Western-themed welcome barbecue at nearby Gozzer Ranch.

The bride paired a long-sleeved lace Bec + Bridge dress with black cowboy boots and hat, proving the country aesthetic is still well and truly on trend.

The panelled stretch lace and dramatic open back detail, made for a dress that stunningly straddles western and bridal aesthetics.

“Western night was a whole different vibe, and honestly, one of the most fun looks of the weekend,” says Abby said of the outfit.

As for their nuptials, Abby turned to the celebrity set’s favourite bridal wear designer, Danielle Frankel who created a custom silk wool column gown with show-stopping deep V back detail.

Following their engagement in December of 2023, the couple initially postponed their nuptials when Patrick learned he landed the role of Saxon Ratliff in The White Lotus

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore show, he revealed: “Finally, a year and a half ago we got engaged. And it was our moment, it was this great thing.”

“And a few days later, I booked White Lotus, and I was like, ‘Abby, I know we’re in this high of engagement, and we’re gonna get married this year. But we’re going to have to push it. I got White Lotus, and I’m going to film for the next seven months in Thailand.’”

It certainly was worth the wait.

Throwing a wedding is one of the more expensive undertakings you’ll tackle in your life, and in 2025, most prospective brides anticipating “putting a ring on it” are trying to figure out how to plan a fairytale wedding, affordably.

One place to save is your wedding dress, an item that can carry an eye-watering price tag if you don’t know where to look (we all know about the bridal tax). More expensive doesn’t always mean better, though, and brides are increasingly shopping for chic affordable wedding dress brands that they can look and feel their best in, without cutting plus ones from the guest list.

And, while the cost-of-living crisis certainly makes it hard to justify splashing thousands on a dress, the phenomenon is also partly attributable to the rise in popularity of more low-key, non-traditional weddings, which leave room for more relaxed and affordable wedding gowns.

When it comes finding an affordable wedding dress, paying less doesn’t mean sacrificing style.

How much should a wedding dress cost?

In Australia “off the rack” or more affordable wedding dress brands at bridal boutiques typically cost anywhere between $1,350-$3000, depending on where you’re shopping. However, the list of affordable wedding dress brands has grown larger thanks to labels releasing bridal collections that sit alongside their ready-to-wear collections. As we’ve shown here, there are also plenty of brands that make bridal-style gowns at lower price points – so if you shop smart, you don’t necessarily need to spend four figures. The sky is typically the limit if you are looking for a made-to-measure gown. Prices generally start at around $4,500 but can go into the tens of thousands. Factors that influence wedding dress prices include the designer’s reputation, the quality and type of fabric the dress is made of and the complexity of the design.

How many months before a wedding should you buy your wedding dress?

The best time to buy your wedding dress will depend on whether you are shopping off the rack or looking at a custom gown. Most experts on the subject matter (and those with hard-won lived experience) recommend not purchasing your wedding dress too far in advance.

Yes, it’s great to feel organised, but in the space of 18 months, your taste, body and plans for the wedding itself can change, leaving you with a wedding dress you’re not happy with. Most made-to-order wedding gowns take six to nine months to create, so starting shopping around the 10-month mark should make you feel comfortable. The first fitting for your dress occurs at six to eight weeks, with your final fitting two weeks out from the date; this allows for any fluctuations in weight (a common occurrence during the stressful wedding planning period).

If you’re shopping for affordable wedding dresses off the rack, experts suggest trying to decide on a gown around six months before your wedding. This will leave you with enough time to make a considered decision, but not so much time that your taste will have entirely changed when the wedding date rolls around and leave time for alterations if your weight fluctuates (another tip is to opt for dresses with a corset-style back, or a fit that can be easily altered).

Chloë Grace Moretz and Kate Harrison’s wedding was nothing short of a magical dream. Over Labour Day Weekend 2025, the couple, who have been together for seven years exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony filled with heartfelt surprises and personal flair.

Chloë, who began her career from a young age, starring in a slew of films from Carrie, to Luca Guadagnino’s elementary cult hit Suspiria met Kate in 2018. The two soon began dating, before officially announcing their engagement on January 1, 2025. In a romantic display on New Year’s Day the two showed off their matching diamond rings, in an understated Instagram post.

Moretz quickly expressed her excitement about designing their matching ring set. Having worked with resetting vintage jewellery in the past, she knew she wanted to do something similar for her and Kate. She called in a friend, Elizabeth Potts of Moon Stoned Vintage to make the dream a reality.

Held privately with close friends and family, the celebration was deeply rooted in the couple’s shared passions: fishing, horseback riding and poker (complete with a custom poker mat).

The duo topped it off with line dancing, a true example of their shared love for entertaining their loved ones.

The reception itself was more than just the star-studded guest list, with guests encouraged to take part in all the fun, with the wedding lasting well into the night.

Chloë Grace Moretz Wedding Dress

Instead of opting for traditional white, Chloë stunned guests in a custom baby-blue Louis Vuitton gown. Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, the dress featured a sleek corset bodice, a floor-skimming silhouette and matching opera gloves. All in the same effervescent blue shade.

The look was topped with a romantic veil, creating a dramatic Old-Hollywood inspired moment.

In keeping with her style, Chloë later revealed that she wanted to wear a colour that felt true to her, romantic and innovative. The choice echoed her willingness to break free from the mould of tradition while still honouring her deep appreciation of couture.

If Chloë’s gown was about bold self-expression, Kate Harrison’s dress was about timeless romance.

The model walked down the aisle in a custom Louis Vuitton bustier and skirt ensemble, exquisitely embroidered with intricate detailing. The look was finished with a birdcage veil over her face and a sweeping cathedral-length veil cascading behind her. A breathtaking balance of modernity and tradition.

Kate described the dress as “Artwork of flowing embroidery“. and that it was. The structured bodice highlighted the silhouette, while the layered skirt brought movement.

Who Is Kate Harrison?

While Chloë’ has been a household name since her breakout roles in Kick-Ass and If I Stay. Kate Harrison has built a quieter but equally fascinating career. A California native. and daughter of veteran actors, Gregory Harrison (Trapper, John M.D) and Randi Oakes (Chips).

Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham’s surprise vow renewal ceremony has done little to quiet rumours of a Beckham family feud, after no one in the groom’s family was present at the affair.

Three years after their first nuptials, Nicola, 30, and Brooklyn, 26, have celebrated a second wedding and vow renewal at the Peltz family estate, attended solely by the bride’s family.

News of a rift between the Beckhams and Peltz-Beckhams first kicked off around Nicola and Brooklyn’s first wedding in 2022. It reportedly began after Nicola refused to wear a wedding dress designed by her future mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham.

And if you thought a second wedding might heal old wedding-dress wounds—you’d be wrong. For her second wedding, Nicola opted to wear a cottage core-style gown that was handed down from her own mother.

Featuring a basque waist and puffed sleeves, the gown, originally worn by Claudia Heffner at her wedding to Nelson Peltz in 1985, was freshly tailored to fit the younger Peltz-Beckham. Working around the original style, Nicola opted to alter the gown to an off-the-shoulder neckline, bordered with white, floral embellishments. The bodice also appears to be tailored with corset boning for a figure-hugging fit.

The ivory satin gown was accessorised with a white floral headpiece and veil, as well as her blinding oval-cut engagement ring, rumoured to be between eight and 10 carats.

Nicola wore her hair in a high ponytail style, with her long dark locks in stark contrast to the blonde hair and curtain bangs she sported at her first wedding.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn wore a black suit and white button-up.

The couple’s vow renewal took place at the Peltz estate in Westchester County, New York, and was officiated by Nicola’s father, Nelson.

The happy couple stood on a platform beset with white roses, which Nicola also carried during the ceremony.

Afterwards, the pair posed for photos alongside the Peltzes. Nicola shared a string of images to her Instagram, alongside concise captions such as, “in every lifetime” and “only love”.

The Beckhams, meanwhile, have been sharing snaps and clips from their yacht holiday somewhere of Europe’s southern coast. They have not commented on Brooklyn’s surprise second wedding.

The rumoured feud between Nicola, Brooklyn and his famous family made headlines earlier this year following David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations. It seemed the fight had reached fever pitch when Brooklyn did not attend his father’s party, despite being in the country at the time. Since then, insiders have claimed Brooklyn is estranged from his family, and has leaned into life as an extension of the Peltzes.

Cristiano Ronaldo Proposes To Girlfriend With Multi-Million Dollar Ring https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/cristiano-ronaldo-engagement-ring/ Mon, 11 Aug 2025 23:45:47 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1289631 It's one of the biggest rings we've ever seen

The post Cristiano Ronaldo Proposes To Girlfriend With Multi-Million Dollar Ring appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has become engaged to his model girlfriend, but it’s the giant, diamond ring making headlines.

Sharing the announcement with her Instagram followers, Georgina Rodriguez shared a close-up snap of the ring, alongside the caption, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives”.

Ronaldo, 40, and Rodriguez, 31, have been dating since 2017, after meeting at a Gucci store where Rodriguez worked. The two share five children and have been open about their experience with pregnancy loss, including the passing of their newborn child.

While the couple has so-far kept details of the ring under wraps, experts were quick to weigh in on just how big the ring was, and how much is cost. Here’s what we know.

How Many Carats Is Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ring?

The most notable feature of the engagement ring Ronaldo gave to Rodriguez is its massive size. Spanning half the length of Rodriguez’s finger, it could be over 5cm long. Of course, when it comes to the size of diamonds, the measurement is in carats. Jeweller Briony Raymond tells WWD the main, oval diamond is estimated to be between 25-30 carats. And while the precise size is difficult to know, experts are in agreement it is definitely upward of 15 carats.

Those with eagle eyes may also spy two smaller diamonds besetting the feature oval, which would increase the total carat count. Founder of jeweller Frank Darling, Kegan Fisher, tells InStyle the side diamonds are around 1 carat each.

The brilliant diamond—which refers to how the diamond is cut to catch the light—is also reportedly of a ‘flawless’ quality, i.e. the best it can be. Needless to say, the ring will surely go down as among one of the biggest celebrity engagement rings ever.

So, now to the question we all want to know…

How Much Did Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ring Cost?

When it comes to the cost of Ronaldo’s fiancee’s engagement ring, jewellers are valuing it around US $2-5 million (approx. AU $3.07m to $7.7m)

Speaking with PageSix, Laura Taylor from Lorel Diamonds estimates the ring to be at least US $2 million. Meanwhile, Ajay Anand, CEO of Rare Carat jeweller estimates the ring to be larger and up to $5 million in value.

Cristiano Ronaldo Worth

If you’re wondering how big of a dent the engagement ring made in the fortune of the legendary footballer, the answer is, welp, not much. Ronaldo, who has been playing A-league football since 2002, is estimated to have a net worth of around US $1 billion.

The courthouse wedding has had a makeover. Once the venue of choice for the young, broke and accidentally pregnant, the courthouse wedding has gone from the antithesis of romance to the epitome of cool.

The ultimate baromatre of chic wedding trends lies in the celebrity set and in recent years some of the biggest names in Hollywood have forgone opulent ceremonies for the local courthouse.

In July 2025, Charli xcx married her partner, George Daniel, at Hackney Town Hall in London with the Brat singer donning the iconic Vivienne Westwood Nova Cora minidress and noughties-coded sunglasses.

Two years prior, Naomi Watts married Billy Crudup at an inner city courthouse in Manhattan wearing lace Oscar De La Renta.

In contrast to the big white wedding, a courthouse ceremony is unfussy and intimate. The courthouse brides, in their sleek suits and stylish mini dresses, exude sophistication while the nonchalance of the setting only amplifies the cool-factor of it all.

While some people have been dreaming of their wedding day for their whole lives, others can find themselves crippled by exorbitant budgets, spiralling guest lists and complicated family dynamics, which is where the courthouse wedding can offer an escape.

With no traditional wedding rituals to fulfil—father-daughter dances, bridesmaid selection or bouquet tosses—couples have an opportunity to focus on what is meaningful to them. For many couples, the appeal of the courthouse ceremony is found in its emphasis on intimacy over performance.

Of course, not all couples choose the courthouse wedding for these reasons. For Jasmine Garnsworthy, creator of Female Founder World, and her husband, it was a matter of legalities.

“The main event was a 65-person wedding in France—but as an Aussie, you can’t actually do the legal part of getting married in France,” Jasmine tells marie claire Australia.

“My husband and I have been living in New York for almost a decade, and so we decided to go down to City Hall and get the paperwork sorted a couple of months before the wedding day.”

Jasmine Garnsworthy

While Jasmine didn’t necessarily choose to have a courthouse wedding for sentimental reasons, that didn’t stop the day from becoming an exceptionally meaningful one.

“It turned into one of my favourite days of all time,” Jasmine says, as she tells us about her wedding day

“I gave a local photographer around $200 to snap some quick photos of the day and invited my sister and one of my husband’s best mates to be our witnesses. I wore a wedding dress by Delphine Manivet and grabbed some flowers from the bodega and we joined the queue at New York City Hall a little before lunch time.”

The way couples choose to celebrate their newly married status varies. Some keep it simple with a family dinner, or drinks in the backyard. Others go ultra-luxe with champagne in sumptuous hotel lounges, private dining rooms and long table dinners under the stars.

For Jasmine and her husband, it was all about keeping things low-key.

“Afterwards we sat on the park bench nearby and opened some champagne, then went to our favourite Italian restaurant, Via Carota, in the village for a long lunch. It was a very good day.”

When it comes to having a courthouse ceremony, you don’t have to forgo the romance and there are plenty of ways to make your day feel special.

“Wearing a wedding dress—although it was quite simple and fell just above the ankle–made the day special,” Jasmine says.

“I also wanted to keep the vibe relaxed, so we added fun touches, like the champagne outside City Hall, giving each other a ring budget of $20 and surprising each other with something fun (the ‘real’ rings were exchanged at our wedding in France), and celebrating at our favourite spot afterwards.”

Lady Eliza Spencer, Princess Diana’s Niece, Is Officially Engaged https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/lady-eliza-spencer-engagement-ring/ Mon, 04 Aug 2025 04:46:29 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1288645 With a ring worthy of royalty

The post Lady Eliza Spencer, Princess Diana’s Niece, Is Officially Engaged appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Another day, another engagement – and ring – to add to our future wedding moodboard. This time, the inspiration comes from Princess Diana’s niece, Lady Eliza Spencer, whose recent betrothal to longterm love, Channing Millerd, has only deepened our obsession with unconventional carats.

Eliza, who is the daughter of Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer and his first wife, Victoria Lockwood, is the third of her siblings to walk down the aisle. Now, after watching her sisters marry – including twin Lady Amelia Spencer, who wed in 2023, and older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, who married Michael Lewis in a Roman ceremony in 2021, it’s finally Lady Eliza’s turn.

And after nine years together, and a slew of royal weddings to take inspiration from, we’re certain it’s a day she and her partner have been planning for quite some time. In fact, in a recent shoot with Hello! magazine, the newly-engaged couple told us so.

“Marriage is definitely something we’ve talked about,” Lady Eliza told the publication in March. “We have such a strong, loving and supportive relationship,” she said, before adding. “He truly is my best friend. We understand each other so well, and no matter what life brings, we’re always there for one another. I absolutely believe he’s The One.”

Taking to Instagram to share the exciting update with her followers, Lady Eliza Spencer shared a series of candid snaps of her and her partner of nine-years in the romantic Santorini setting.

Captioning the carousel with a simple “Forever and Ever,” the bride-to-be looked positively overcome with emotion. But while well-wishers flocked to the comment section to share their felicitations, it was the sparkling engagement ring glistening through the screen that captured our attention.

The pear-cut diamond in question. Image: @elizavspencer

The unique engagement ring features a pear-shaped diamond surrounded by a delicate pavé halo.

A timeless choice that, according to Katherine Denton of KDJ, is indicative of the growing ring trend away from oval cuts and into a “new era of solitaires, including pears, marquise and cushion-cut gems.”

“I think we’re going to see a big shift toward more antique-style diamond cuts like pears, marquise (thank you Selena), and cushion cuts,” Denton tells us.

“Brides are still drawn to a modern feel for their engagement rings, but they’re looking for something with a touch of old-world charm—something they can imagine passing down one day.”

According to jewellery expert Nilesh Rakholia, Lady Eliza’s ring is certainly worthy of such treatment. Speaking with Hello! after news of the engagement first made headlines, he estimated its value to be worth somewhere between 20-50,000 pounds.

“This price range is broad because the final valuation is heavily dependent on the diamond’s specific ‘4 Cs’ – carat weight, cut, colour and clarity,” he told the publication. Adding that the ring in question was “one of exceptional quality and timeless style.”

Of course, we’d expect nothing less from the niece of the late Princess Diana, whose own enviable jewellery collection continues to live on through both Princess Catherine and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

The post EXCLUSIVE: Inside Delta Goodrem’s Glamorous Maltese Wedding Welcome Party appeared first on marie claire.

Delta Goodrem doesn’t do things by halves. So when it came to the welcome dinner ahead of her wedding in Malta, she wanted to create something magical. Intimate, yes. But full of heart, soul and joy. “It’s the first time many walks of life were coming together, travelling in from around the world,” she tells marie claire. “So we started with the classic music of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole playing – setting a timeless, romantic atmosphere.”

The welcome dinner was held at The Sheer Bastion – a grand limestone fortress with sweeping 360-degree views of Malta’s elegance and charm. “By the end,” she smiles, “everyone was dancing and singing up a storm!”

Delta set the tone with a custom Antoinette Fusillo gown – soft pale pink, lace, and ethereal. “It had a soft flow to it, almost like it was dancing with me through the night. It felt like the perfect first chapter to the celebration. A look that said: We’re here, we’re in love, and we’re about to have the time of our lives.”

Accessories were understated but considered. “I kept it simple and classic with a little edge through makeup,” she says. “Noni [Smith] and I went with a deep plum lip to go with the pink tone.” Her heels were a pale pink pair by Lana Wilkinson, her jewellery – diamonds from Anton. Hair was styled by Michael Brennan and the full look brought together by stylist Meggy Smith.

The evening flowed with fresh canapés, flowing champagne, and crowd-pleasing cocktails. Guests mingled to the sound of old-school crooners before the energy ramped up with ‘90s bangers – I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Bon Jovi, and more. “The dance floor went wild,” Delta laughs. “We also had a wonderful live performance from a local artist, Kevin Paul.”

And while there were many VIPs in the room, one moment stood out. “Seeing my nephew and niece walk in the door always makes my heart happy.”

The next night brought a change of pace. The rehearsal dinner was a smaller, quieter gathering for immediate family only – full of warmth and meaning. “It was incredibly special,” Delta reflects. “We are always big on speeches in my world. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dinner party without going around the table doing speeches!”

Despite being the bride-to-be, she embraced her role as host with open arms. “My ‘hosting duties’ meant welcoming and chatting to my favourite people in the world who flew in from every corner of the globe, so I had the best time,” she says. “It was a celebration and a kick-off for a great week ahead.”

But it wasn’t all logistics and lipstick. There was a moment when it all sank in. “As the sun began to set and the golden light poured in, I looked around at all the smiling faces and just knew… this was the beginning of something unforgettable.”

Looking back, the welcome and rehearsal dinners were spaces to honour the love, the journey, and the people who showed up. “It felt right,” Delta says. “The energy was right. The people were right. The love was real.”

Madeleine White’s Four Wedding Looks Were Anything But Ordinary https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/madeleine-white-wedding-dresses/ Wed, 16 Jul 2025 01:17:18 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1287063 A masterclass in staying true to personal style

The post Madeleine White’s Four Wedding Looks Were Anything But Ordinary appeared first on marie claire.

Influencer Madeleine White has amassed an impressive online following – 5 million TikTok followers, 1.9 million on Instagram – thanks to her unique fashion takes, impressive sewing skills and candid outfit try-ons. And, let’s not forget that time she cut up and repurposed a Prada jumpsuit.

So, when the model turned TikTok star became engaged to her boyfriend, Loud Luxury DJ Andrew Fedyk, anticipation from her followers over the dress was almost instantaneous.

Naturally, Madeleine took her devoted audience along for the wild ride that is wedding planning and dress shopping. But, the reveal would have to wait for the special day – a high-summer wedding against a stunning Santorini backdrop.

It was worth the wait, with Madeleine revealing not one but four bridal dress looks from her Grecian nuptials. The first was an ombré pink Oscar de la Renta dress from the designer’s Spring 2018 collection that she sourced secondhand from Vestiaire Collective. It proved the perfect pop of colour for their welcome party which was inspired by the pink bougainvillea that grows in abundance on the island.

For the ceremony at Cavo Ventus villa, Madeleine wore a gown from Viktor & Rolf’s 2023 Spring Bridal runway, telling Vogue she’d seen and saved the dress well before she was even engaged.

“I reached out to the Viktor & Rolf team to see if I could go to their offices and try on the dress, since it was no longer being stocked in store,” she told the publication. “I put it on my body and knew it was my dress.”

The Dutch fashion house took the dress one step further, customising the piece with 40 hand-appliquéd butterflies – they’ve become somewhat of a symbol for the influencer.

For their sunset cocktail hour and dinner, Madeleine changed into a floral embroidered halterneck dress with backless detail from the bridal brand, Berta. Closing out the night, a dancefloor worthy mini was essential and came in the form of a a pink chain-mail dress from Fendi and Versace’s Fendace collaboration.

Delta Goodrem has entered her wife era, marrying long-term partner Matthew Copley late last month. Now, the ‘Innocent Eyes’ singer has finally shared the photos we’ve all been waiting for.

Taking to Instagram, Delta shared several photos of her wedding day and they’re as whimsical as we’d expect from Australia’s pop princess.

“June 2025, Husband and Wife. 🫶🏻,” she began in the caption, “It was more magical than we both could have dreamed. We said I do under the Maltese skies in a family fairytale wedding brought to life by so many angels surrounding us. We are holding on to every memory from that moment, the love, the laughter, the happy tears and dancing till the sun came up.

She then added: “We can’t wait to come back to Australia and celebrate as Mr & Mrs.”

Naturally, we’re most curious about the dress. Thankfully, Delta delightfully obliged our intrigue sharing intimate details of the day with followers, including the designer behind her look.

“The dress of my dreams made with so much love from the one and only @paolo_sebastian Couldn’t have imagined anything more and i can’t wait to share the dress’ journey with you,” she wrote.

The couple tied the knot in Malta—aka the same coastal spot where Copley popped the question two years ago—with a multi-day celebration that kept things tight-knit and meaningful. Think: family, a few close friends, and zero paparazzi. (Not counting that one blurry yacht snap that made the rounds online. She’s since made it crystal clear she’s choosing what to share—and this is it.)

Speaking exclusively to marie claire Australia before departing to Europe, Goodrem said of finding her soulmate: “I believe, when you really love someone, you both become even more who you already were in your heart. I have someone who really sees who I am and likewise. And I think that that creates a sense of home.”

When asked how embarking on a new chapter with Copley might inspire her music, Delta revealed, “I don’t know yet what that will shift.

“I’ll let you know when we when I step into my my new wife era. I’ll have to circle back.”

And while your standard breed of party dresses might be fine in spring, moving into winter it’s harder to find the perfect pick. Whether you’re after a sequin dress, something with jewel tones or something floral print, the options for wedding guest dresses are never ending. So, what to do?

The main thing to remember about winter wedding guest dresses is that anything goes — so long as you’re warm. Mini dress? Go for it, just pair it with stockings. Floral print? No worries, but choose a version with sleeves. And while your standard spring dresses might not be winter wedding season-ready, throwing over a faux fur jacket might be the simple answer.

What Should A Guest Wear To A Winter Wedding?

It’s perfectly acceptable to wear a coat to a winter wedding — you have to be warm, of course. Make sure you choose a streamlined or tailored version, and avoid fabrics like denim. It is a wedding, after all. And, as always, avoid wearing white and make sure you’re in comfortable shoes.

Winter boots are of course fine, but keep them outfit-appropriate with a chic silhouette – like some of our favourites, here. Otherwise, closed toe mules or other comfortable high heels will get you where you need to be.

Don’t forget to use your accessories! While coats might obscure your dress, the right accessories can make or break an outfit and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Below, we’ve rounded up our favourite winter wedding guest dresses, so you can ensure you look your best this winter wedding season.

What To Wear To A Winter Wedding

1. Florals are possible

With a little help from metallics undertones and boots.

2. Velvet always works

The ultimate winter fabric, a draped velvet dress is an easy way to do a mini dress without getting chilly.

3. Suit up

Perfect for a black tie or cocktail dress code, a simple tailored suit can make the perfect winter wedding outfit. Paired with a simple pump and statement bag — voila!

4. All knitted up

A long sleeve knit dress made from fine wool or complete with a high neck is a surefire way to stay on the dress code.

5. Faux fur is a winner

Faux fur jackets are a must this winter, so layer a statement version on top of a casual dress for an instantly sophisticated look.

6. Play with lengths

Texture and length are a must for winter weddings. Opt for a cocktail dress shape with sleeves in a floral print for an unexpected take on winter wedding guest dressing.

7. Cover up

Stockings can work — just be sure to go sheer or light rather than totally opaque.

8. Pop of colour

It’s a suit, but make it pastel. Apart from being warm, it’ll inject a little colour into the ceremony.

9. Colour block

Colour blocking in vibrant hues will ensure your outfits maintains fresh. Add in layers of similar shades — for example, a maxi dress over a top with knee high boots — to complete the look.

10. Heavier fabrics

Heavier fabrics in metallic or deep shades are a failsafe. Layer on a coat over the top and you’re good to go.

Delta Goodrem has married her long-time partner and fiance, Matthew Copley.

The couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Malta, surrounded by family and friends including Renee Bargh, Richard Wilkins and Christian Wilkins, New Idea reports. The nuptials are said to have taken place in the spot where Copley proposed almost two years ago.

Goodrem, 40 and Copley, 38, were spotted alongside guests at a seaside beach club for a recovery event the day after the ceremony, both donning shiny new wedding bands.

The happy couple first became engaged in September of 2023 after six years of dating.

The Australian pop princess shared the news via Instagram, captioning the post, “My best friend asked me to marry him.”

The carousel included a photo of the pair embracing at sunset in Malta, followed by a video of the proposal spot (featuring violinists and scattered rose petals), and a zoom in on her dazzling diamond ring.

“[Matthew’s] family is from Malta, so it was beautiful and special. It was a beautiful party,” Goodrem told news.com.au of the engagement.

Notoriously private, the ‘Innocent Eyes’ singer spoke to The Daily Telegraph about the decision to turn down any personal questions.

“I made a choice that I’m not even going to comment ‘yes’ or ‘no’ … I’ve said nothing for three or four years,” she said.

However, she did confirm she and Copley fell in love after meeting through their creative work.

“He’s my guitarist, I met him through music.”

She also told The Australian Women’s Weekly, “It’s incredible to be on stage with him because he’s so talented. We really are a team. He’s my best friend, he’s kind and just a beautiful human being.

Brittany Hockley Gave Us The First Look Inside Her Wedding To Ben Siegrist https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/brittany-hockley-wedding-photos/ Tue, 10 Jun 2025 09:01:20 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1284111 Three custom gowns and six months of German lessons

The post Brittany Hockley Gave Us The First Look Inside Her Wedding To Ben Siegrist appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Set against a cinematic backdrop of rugged cliffs, salt air and endless blue, Brittany Hockley and Benjamin Siegrist’s wedding was a coastal dream, the official photos of which have been shared first with marie claire Australia.

The couple, who first met in 2022, tied the knot in Pandawa Cliff Estate in Bali to a sun-drenched coastal bluff backdrop and uninterrupted ocean views.

The Life Uncut podcast host shared a quick glimpse of her nuptials via Instagram last week, but has now shared with us her detailed wedding album. Naturally, we’re immediately drawn to the two extra custom wedding looks the bride donned on the day.

“At one point for my dress change – I had three dresses – Laura had to take me behind the toilet wall,” Britt reveals on the latest episode of her podcast.

The first of three custom Steven Khalil dresses featured a lace corset bodice and floral-adorned skirt so voluptuous Britt reveals she “had to request a four metre wide aisle”.
The corseted and floral details carried through to her second dress which included a sheer skirt she later removed for the final dancefloor-chic look of the evening.

As for her bridesmaids, they donned a collection of summery, butter yellow dresses from Australian label, L’Idee.

The ceremony and reception were brimming with sentimental touches as two groups from across the world came together, starting with Ben’s groomsman who learnt english for the wedding so he could perform his speech.

“He couldn’t say hello in English, which are basically the same words. When I told him [he’d be a groomsman], he was very honored but he said ‘I’ve got to do this in English now’,” Ben revealed.

Then, there was the pivotal role Britt’s dad played on the day.

“My dad married us. My dad walked me down the aisle with my mum and then he was the celebrant.”

There were also a few surprises Britt had in store for her new husband.

“As a wedding present for Ben I organised with Sam Fischer to create a song that was just for us,” she revealed of the song she walked down the aisle to.

“Another surprise that I had for Ben…for the last six months I’ve been learning German. It is so hard. I learnt my vows in German so I could surprise Ben at the end of the aisle.”

As for what life looks like now they’re married, Britt reveals their lives will look much the same for the time being.

“We are married and we will be long distance again still, because we still have our lives,” she says. “Ben’s life is still in Europe, my life is still here currently. We are making plans for the future to spend more time together, we just don’t know what it looks like.”

Anyone who’s been a bridesmaid will cringe in solemn acknowledgement at the line from the Katherine Heigl romcom 27 Dresses: “The best thing is you can shorten it and wear it again!”

The joke, of course, is that Heigl’s character would never wear any of her bridesmaid dresses again. They were hideous.

Luckily in 2025, bridal trends have moved past taffeta and oversized bows, and into something entirely more chic.

Much of the change can be attributed to beloved Australian brands catering to bridal parties, those looking for non-traditional styles and their loyal shoppers.

Look to Zimmermann and Shona Joy and you’ll see the brand’s most timeless, staple styles refreshed in new colourways each season, while Christopher Esber and Bec + Bridge offer a curated ‘Bridal Edit’ for the non-traditional or modern bride.

Reality Star Gabby Windey Frees The Nipple In Daring Wedding Mini https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/gabby-windey-wedding/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 00:35:30 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1278319 A see-through mini for a bold bride

The post Reality Star Gabby Windey Frees The Nipple In Daring Wedding Mini appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Reality TV royalty Gabby Windey has officially married her partner, comedian and TV writer Robby Hoffman, in a courthouse wedding, donning a daring see-through dress. The surprise nuptials rocked social media, in part due to Gabby’s daring choice bridal look.

The winner of the latest season of The Traitors US, Windey, 34, has gained a new generation of fans for her offbeat antics and bold personality. This shone through on her wedding day, where Windey and Hoffman legalised their marriage at a courthouse in California. This followed the pair’s secret Las Vegas ceremony earlier this year.

Windey’s wedding dress was a mini length with a rose ruffle around the hem. Despite featuring long sleeves and a mock turtle neck, it was not a conservative bridal choice—with the bodice being sheer enough for Windey to ‘free the nipple‘, so to speak.

While Windey and Hoffman haven’t shared their outfit details, fans are loving Windey’s characteristically wild choice. “I saw that gabby got married with her nips out so i got married with my nips out,” wrote body positivity activist Ashley Guzman on Windey’s Instagram. Fellow reality stars also chimed in to share their congratulations, with Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause—who is married to Australian musician GFlip—taking to the comments with well wishes.

Hoffman and Windey celebrated with a wedding cake topped with Funko dolls.

Windey and Hoffman’s courthouse ceremony took place on April 11, with the two sharing photos five days later. The legal ceremony followed a Las Vegas wedding in January, in which Gabby wore a long-sleeve lace dress. Windey then appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, saying she’d “10 out of 10” recommend her Vegas wedding package and someone called “Reverend Nature”.

Windey rose to fame as a contestant on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette in the US. She’s since become a household name online, having caught the attention of prominent fans, like cultural commentator Evan Ross Katz.

When every bottle of bubbles has been popped and the celebrations come to a close, you’re probably going to want to mark the end of your wedding day by slipping out of your dress and into something a little sexier.

Akin to saying ‘yes’ to the dress or deciding on the perfect pair of shoes, choosing your bridal lingerie is a wedding rite of passage that shouldn’t be overlooked. As you soak up the last hours of your special day together, that last thing you want to do is trade in your gown for a pair of old sweats.

As for whether or not you need to wear all white, Bras N Things Head of Product, Jessica Lauppe-Guy says it’s more than okay to buck tradition.

“I think it’ all about whatever makes you feel special,” she told marie claire Australia.

“A lot of brides lean towards white or a touch of blue as it is symbolic of a bridal look and gives them that quintessential bridal look and feel that you don’t get to wear often!”

While most people assume that ‘bridal lingerie’ needs to be worn underneath your wedding dress, that isn’t always the case.

As Lauppe-Guy explained, it’s all about the style of your dress and your personal taste. So, if you don’t want to wear your special lingerie during the nuptials or reception, you can always whip it out exclusively while on honeymoon.

“In our experience most brides need some kind of solution under their dress and a strapless bra, stick on accessories is most functional,” she explained.

“Especially with the trend towards low plunging necklines, backless and semi sheer gowns these days. However, the reception can often mean a second outfit and some lacey lingerie or the honeymoon is also a key event to buy some special pieces for.”

Whether you’re after a silky set to sleep in or something that will send your wedded one’s jaw straight to the floor, well, that’s entirely up to you, but we’ve rounded up the best brands to shop, below.

The Best Bridal Lingerie Brands 2025

Kat The Label bridal set

Melbourne brand Kat The Label was born from a desire to create lingerie that makes women feel cool and confident without being overtly sexual. We think that’s exactly the mood you want to bring on your wedding night—and beyond. From classic sets in cotton and lace to silky slips and pyjamas, the label offers a range of white and ivory pieces, as well as less traditional colourways to lean into.

Also available at:

London label Lounge fuses fashion and function when it comes to its bridal collection. Buy sleek, supportive styles to wear during the day and make sure you cut a stunning silhouette in your dress. And then slip into something a little more eye-catching when its just you and your partner. We adore the brand’s collection of blue pieces for a subtle nod to tradition.

Founded in London’s Soho in 1994, Agent Provocateur pioneered sexual empowerment and fearless femininity with its punk heritage brand. Here you’ll find intricate and detailed designs that push the boundaries of lingerie.

From power pieces and bondage to sensual floral embroidery and soft lace, there’s a bridal lingerie look for every kind of bride at Bluebella. The London-born label prides itself on its extended sizing and sustainable initiatives.

Also available at:

For Love & Lemons has been a favourite of the fashion set for its enchanting and feminine clothing. The same can be said for the brand’s lingerie line which is dainty, delicate and sensual—everything you could want for your wedding night.

Australian lingerie brand Cloud Blvd is the go-to for modern brides looking to make an entrance on their wedding night and beyond. From ceremony sets to heavenly honeymoon must-haves, these intimates are destined for a dream romantic run and are guaranteed to remain on high rotation in your spicy wardrobe.

What underwear should I buy for my wedding night?

Keep things classic with a white lace and satin set. You might want to experiment with silhouettes and accessories that amp up the vibes for your amour. But you don’t have to go overboard. A timeless silk slip and a flattering balconette bra will make for a stunning choice.

Do I have to wear white underwear on my wedding night?

The short answer is no. You can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. If you do want to lean into the nuptial vibe, white or ivory styles make for an elegant choice. You could also choose blue lingerie as a nod to your “something blue”. But there’s no right or wrong when it comes to choosing underwear and sleepwear as a bride.

The sculptural silhouettes and statement designs of Christopher Esber’s gowns have long lended themselves to not just event dressing but bridal wear. From engagement to after party styles and on occasion the wedding dress itself, brides continue to gravitate toward the brand.

The unwavering appetite for bridalwear didn’t go unnoticed, with Christopher Esber now launching an official bridal collection. The 20-piece collection features both new silhouettes and brand icons reimagined in chalky whites made to walk the aisle.

Balancing volume and flow, sharp tailoring and fluid details, the bridal range plays with dualities with a distinct Esber touch.

Highlights among the collection include the Textured Silk Salacia Gown with hammered silk draping from a sculptural plunging neckline and the Olivia Heirloom Layered Dress’ corseted bodice adorned with lace for a piece that blends the modern and timeless.

christopher esber bridal

Because Esber understands not every bride wants to wear white the collection also features a patchwork lace chemise gown in black as well as three further silhouettes in soft, earthy tones of mushroom and putty.

This isn’t the Australian designer’s first foray into bridal. In 2023, Christopher Esber created a capsule bridal collection for Net-A-Porter.

His words on the collection, spoken to ELLE US at the time, still reign true for this 2025 launch.

“When I picture my dream bride, she encapsulates the women who inspire me every day — a woman on her way in modern life, timeless and empowered in her duality,” he said. “She is distinguishable and appreciates subtle, exceptional materials and form.”

For this collection, longevity of styles–able to be re-worn beyond a wedding day–was at the forefront of Esber’s mind.

“If you’ve got this piece that’s really sentimental and it’s something that you obviously love, you should be able to wear it again. I really wanted the pieces to kind of have this ability to morph into something you can wear, maybe for an anniversary or even to a party,” Esber told Broadsheet

Avant-Garde Floral Accessories Are Replacing Traditional Bridal Bouquets https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/bridal-bouquet-accessory-trend/ Thu, 20 Feb 2025 05:35:38 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1274451 Something a little more curated

A cluster of calla lilies may have become the bridal bouquet du jour of late, but the elegant flower choice is swiftly being upstaged by a new floral trend. Brides are combining their floral arrangements and accessories for a new hybrid style that is utterly chic.

Purses, clutches and handbags blend with floral bunches seamlessly as though they first sprouted from the accessories that now hold them. For those wanting to achieve the avant-garde accessory effect sans the bag component, jewels, pearls and ribbons are intertwined to achieve the look.

Execution, we’re told, comes down to careful consideration and planning with your florist.

“It is very important to work out timing; how long the flowers will be without a water source, including creation and production time, Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora tells marie claire Australia. “The longer the time, the stronger the bloom needs to be. Long-lasting and resilient blooms, such as orchids, will withstand time out of water and the construction process, which may be intricate.”

For those wanting to emulate the trend specifically with a bag, having that piece on hand is vital for your florist to navigate all its intricacies.

“Viewing the structure and how it will be held beforehand is a must. This allows the florist to engineer a concept that conceals all mechanics while showcasing the creation in a practical way,” Saskia explains.

It’s not just the accessory itself that should be considered when designing such a piece, but also the dress so as to compliment the overall bridal look.

“We always aim for a balanced styling where everything works together to create ultimate beauty. No one detail should overtake all others,” Susan Avery, Creative Director and CEO of Susan Avery Flowers & Events, tells us. “We often attend a fitting with our brides so details like this can be collaborated on.”

When it comes to specific florals suited to such a treatment, Susan recommends “the architectural shapes of arum/calla lilies, orchids, anthuriums and amazing leaves like turtle leaves.”

As a bride-to-be who also happens to work in fashion and is perennially indecisive, searching for the perfect wedding dress can be overwhelming.

Social media deep dives and sweeping runway archives are endless fodder for inspiration, but nothing quite competes with the collections of Haute Couture Fashion Week.

The Spring Summer 2025 Haute Couture runways in particular were primed for the aisles of veritable it-girl brides everywhere, and I have no doubt what we’ve seen this season will quickly become the bridal trends du jour.

From Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier to Chanel and Elie Saab, exaggerated waistlines, exposed corsetry and crinolines and feather-like details reigned supreme.

These are the Spring Summer 2025 Haute Couture trends I want to see everywhere this year and beyond…

Exaggerated Waistlines

Image: Getty

An evolution of the basque and drop-waist styles currently swamping the wedding dress space, exaggerated waistlines were all over the runways.

The exposed crinolines at Dior were particularly stunning with their feminine whimsy and I can already see this translated and reimagined in new ways over the coming year.

Statement Veils

haute couture bridal spring 2025

I’m already starting to see blusher and mantilla veils gaining popularity among modern brides and by the looks of this year’s collections, they’re here to stay.

Minimalism With A Twist

haute couture bridal spring 2025
Image: Getty

For the minimalist bride (it’s me, I’m the minimalist bride) classicism with a twist was a refreshing change of pace on Gaurav Gupta, Miss Sohee, Aelis and Georges Hobeika.

Some of my favourite looks were simple silhouettes with one statement feature or detail—think shimmering beaded fabric or sculptural embellishments.

Dark Accents

haute couture bridal spring 2025
Image: Getty

Dark accents adorned multiple of the couture runways giving soft and ethereal looks a femme punk edge. Black bows whether worn in the hair or around the waist made for a chic contrast to bridal-worthy attire.

Sculptural Shapes

Designers played with movement through curving structures crafted from soft billowing fabrics at Jean Paul Gautier, Giambattista Valli and Stephane Rolland.

For the fashion-forward bride who’s willing to take a risk adapting this aesthetic would make for a show-stopping gown.

Planning a wedding can be a daunting process. Between locking in a venue that allows your vision to come to life, finding a dress that makes you feel your best, and the million other tiny details that make the day memorable — it can feel like a never-ending to-do list.

One thing that can get lost in the months-long planning process is the smaller details like what perfume you’ll wear on your Big Day. We’re firm believers in the power of marking big life moments with a new scent, in large part because your sense of smell is powerfully tied to memories, and is able to transport us back in time to those memories for a lifetime.

It stands to reason that selecting the right perfume to wear on your wedding day is important. The day is fleeting and many brides lament the speed at which it zooms by. Wearing a new fragrance on your wedding day (or wedding weekend, or to your wedding-related events) means you can revisit those joyous feelings for many years to come.

Ahead, we suggest a few wedding day perfumes that might just fit your fantasy.

Top Wedding Day Perfumes

 1. Christian Dior Holy Peony, $267, Dior (here’s why)
 2. Chanel N°5 L’eau, $228, Chanel (here’s why)
 3. Tsu Lang Yor Luca Eau de Parfum, $170, Mecca (here’s why)

Wedding Day Perfumes For 2025

dior holy peony fragrance

01

Christian Dior Holy Peony

$267 at Dior

Holy Peony is a gorgeous floral fragrance with a subtle edge. The Maison Christian Dior fragrance is special, thanks to the interwoven notes of rose and Lily of the Valley, accentuated by bright strawberry and raspberry. It’s also underpinned by a musky woodiness that stops it from veering towards cloying, and is perfect for the bride who wants to feel divinely feminine and strong on her wedding day.

Chanel No 5

02

Chanel N°5 L’eau

$228 at Chanel

When planning a wedding, there’s a tendency to stick to the classics, but it’s your big day, so making it your own is important. Chanel N°5 is a classic bridal fragrance, so why not sidestep tradition (just a little bit) with the limited edition N°5 L’eau, a fresher and more vibrant interpretation of the original? It has a vibrant woody and citrus signature, and it’s the latter that sets it apart from the scent that inspired it.

tsu lang yor luca

03

Tsu Lang Yor Luca Eau de Parfum

$170 at Mecca

For lovers of slightly masculine scents, Luca Eau de Parfum from Troye Sivan’s label Tsu Lang Yor will tickle your senses in a very good way. The fragrance has been designed to complement your natural scent and combines bergamot, cedarwood, incense, and ambroxan for a savoury fragrance that’s undeniably sexy. It’s perfect for the modern or non-traditional bride, and for evening weddings.

Elie Saab Parfum

04

Elie Saab Le Parfum Bridal

$139 at My Perfume Shop

Twenty years after the first Monsieur Saab’s Bridal collection, the House has released Le Parfum Bridal. A fragrance designed to be delicately feminine and evoke images of a silk-adorned woman on her wedding day, it captures the intense emotions of the big day. It’s a musky, woody, floral scent, opening with ylang-ylang and orange blossom notes, delicately enveloped by Madagascar vanilla and ambroxan.

wood sage sea salt

05

Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne

from $120 at Myer

If you’re looking for a fresh fragrance that isn’t floral, Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt deserves your attention. It’s a complex fragrance that is light and feminine but with a serious backbone. Thanks to ambrette seed, sea salt and sage as the primary notes, along with fresh grapefruit and red algae, it’s like a comforting summer date night in a bottle.

Glossier You Eau de Parfum

06

Glossier You Eau de Parfum

$129 at Mecca

Glossier You was designed to smell different on everyone. The skin scent was created without a top note, which means it’s also been made to layer it with your favourite fragrances. It’s delightful on its own, with musky, peppery, and creamy notes freshened up by iris root. But it’s also a lovely idea to layer You with your favourite signature scent so you can smell like yourself on your big day, but slightly better. (Just be sure to test the combination ahead of time to ensure they work well together).

Choosing the right engagement ring can prove almost as daunting as popping the question. A symbol of love that will be worn for a lifetime, you want to ensure you love the style not just today but for years (and years) to come.

Timeless engagement ring styles are a safe choice, but for the fashion bride-to-be something a little more curated may be in order.

While the cycle moves at a far slower pace than its sartorial counterpart, engagement rings — particularly setting styles, diamond cuts and colours — aren’t immune to waxing and waning trends.

In recent years we’ve seen oval solitaires become the choice for engagement rings, but as we head into 2025, a new era of individuality is underway.

After speaking to the experts, these are the three engagement ring trends we predict will be big in 2025.

Image: Kate & Kole

East-West Engagement Rings

The rise in east-west engagement rings over the last year speaks to the desire for timeless yet unique styles. And, with the recent seal of approval from veritable it-girl Zendaya, the trend is only set to skyrocket from here.

“This unexpected trend adds a contemporary edge to traditional ring designs, making them feel fresh and unique,” Cullen Jewellery‘s Juliette Carrieri tells us, “Perfect for anyone looking to stand out while keeping a classic feel.”

Kate & Kole’s Co-Founder & Creative Director, Madalynne, agrees.

“East-west settings are poised to gain popularity, offering a stunning way to give a classic solitaire design a refined yet modern twist.”

Vintage Engagement Rings

Fashion’s obsession with the old money aesthetic and individuality collides to see old-world and genuine vintage diamonds become coveted stones.

“I’ve noticed a growing desire among clients for something more authentic, more distinct. Antique diamonds, especially those with fancy cuts like Old Mine and Old European styles, perfectly capture this yearning for individuality,” Monika Ruggerino, founder of her eponymous label says.

Imperfections are part of the charm and unique appeal, as brides-to-be look for something more than the expected.

“We foresee growing interest in genuine antique diamond cuts, such as old mine cuts like cushion-shapes and old European cuts, prized for their one-of-a-kind character and vintage charm,” Cushla Whiting explains.

It could also see a rise in coloured stones, with Whiting adding: “The demand for coloured stones also remains quite robust. Sapphires, particularly for engagement rings, continue to captivate our customers due to their uniqueness.”

Pear, Marquise & Cushion Cuts

After seasons of unwavering popularity oval cuts make way for a new era of solitaires; pears, marquise and cushion cuts.

A coincidence considering the recent engagements of both Selena and Zendaya? Perhaps, but it also ties back to the growing desire for vintage-inspired styles.

“For 2025, I think we’re going to see a big shift toward more antique-style diamond cuts like pears, marquise (thank you Selena), and cushion cuts,” Katherine Denton of KDJ tells us.

“Brides are still drawn to a modern feel for their engagement rings, but they’re looking for something with a touch of old-world charm—something they can imagine passing down one day.”

Are 2025 engagement ring trends moving away from traditional styles?

It appears so! While timeless engagement rings will never go out of style, 2025 is all about unexpected twists — proof in the engagement rings we have seen from celebrities like Zendaya and Taylor Swift.

Why are vintage engagement rings so special?

Vintage engagement rings often have one-of-a-kind charm. They’re perfect for brides who want something meaningful while still being a little bit different from what everyone else is wearing.

How can I choose a trend-led ring that still feels timeless?

For timeless rings that are inspired by trends, opt for a ring that resonates with your personal style. That way, your ring feels fashionable while still remaining timeless.

Saying yes to the dress—or dresses—is a bucket list moment for brides. But what you wear underneath is equally important.

British brand Lounge is obsessed with mastering the art of comfort made sexy—something that’s just as important on an average weekday as it is on your wedding day.

Functional pieces, such as a supportive strapless bra and barely-there undies might be required depending on the dress you choose. Some brides like to play around with their “something blue” when it comes to bridal lingerie, too.

But shopping for the perfect bridal underpinnings isn’t just about the big day. From engagement party to honeymoon, now is the time to collect pieces for your trousseau that are worth celebrating with each and every occasion.

The Best Bridal Lingerie From Lounge In 2024

Luxury Strapless T-shirt Bra

Removable and adjustable straps let you alter this style to suit most dress silhouettes.

Sizes: Band 8–18; cup A–G | Colours: Honey, Chestnut | Materials: 46% Recycled Polyester, 40% Recycled Polyamide, 14% Elastane

Lougne-Blush-Embroidered-G-string

03

Blush Embroidered G-string

$32 at Lounge

Best for: Something blue

If your dress allows, a pair of sapphire knickers is a lovely nod to the tradition of wearing something blue on your special day. This thong cut will still layer well below most fabrics—the rosebud and bow details amp up the charm.

Sizes: XS–3XL | Colours: Blue, Hot Pink | Materials: 74% Recycled Polyester, 24% Polyester, 2% Elastane

What Underwear Should I Choose For My Wedding Day?

The dress you choose will impact the underwear you need for your wedding day. Strapless, plunging and cut-out necklines will call for specific bra details. Slinky silk fabrics will require seamless knickers, while voluminous skirts leave you with more choices.

Above all, you want to be comfortable. Make sure you get fitted correctly for your bra to create the most flattering silhouette.

The Spring Summer 2025 season has officially come to a close, but that doesn’t mean the inspiration coming off the runways has dried up, particularly when it comes to all the ‘anti-bride’ bridal looks we’ve been saving to our modern wedding moodboards.

Between New York and London, through to Milan and Paris, there was no shortage of brands and heritage houses alike sending new twists on traditional looks down the runway. And while Bridal Fashion Week is, of course, a point of sartorial inspiration for any modern bride-to-be, it’s often in the ready-to-wear collections that unique statement styles abound.

From satin power suits and bubble sleeves, to sharp, embellished tailoring and diaphanous draping, there’s a wealth of bridalwear-adjacent options to be found outside of traditional boutiques and ateliers, as demonstrated by the endless eye-catching profiles seen during fashion month.

Lucky for you, we’ve kept a keen eye on all the latest silhouettes, styles and details from the Spring Summer 2025 collections that would make the perfect wedding ensemble for a modern bride.

Princess Theodora of Greece’s Wedding Was All About The Details https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/wedding/princess-theodora-of-greece-wedding/ Mon, 30 Sep 2024 01:55:58 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1262359 Third time's a charm

It’s been a long wait for Princess Theodora of Greece and her American lawyer beau, Matthew Kumar, whose twice-postponed wedding was finally held at the Metropolis Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Athens on Saturday.

Since their 2018 engagement was announced, the couple have had to reschedule their wedding plans twice, once because of the pandemic and again in 2023, following the death of Theodora’s father, King Constantine II.

But patience paid off for the happy couple, whose intimate nuptials were attended by the pair’s nearest and dearest, including Princess Theodora’s aunt Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Bekedikte of Denmark.

“The couple’s desire to have their wedding in Athens reflects their love for Greece, the strong ties they maintain with the country and their desire to share Greek culture and hospitality and identity with their guests,” an official statement from the Greek royal family said.

The History Behind The Heirlooms

Tradition is always central to any royal wedding and Princess Theodora’s was no exception. The bride’s bardot wedding dress was designed by Athens’ oldest couture house, Celia Kritharioti, and accessorised with family heirlooms that brought a sense of significance to the much-awaited nuptials.

Her lace veil originally belonged to the Crown Princess of Sweden, Princess Margaret of Connaught, and was once used to cover her body following her tragic death in 1920.

The veil was then passed down to Margaret’s daughter, Queen Ingrid of Sweden, who kept the tradition alive by sharing the special piece with each of her female descendants, including Theodora’s mother, Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark.

The bride’s Cartier tiara was also a Princess Margaret heirloom, gifted to its original owner by the Khedive of Egypt, which made the perfect accompaniment to Princess Theordora’s diamond bracelet, a piece from her great grandmother, Alexandrine, Queen of Denmark.

The mother of the bride, Princess Anne-Marie, also wore a gown by Celia Kritharioti, opting for a blue, off-the-shoulder design.

Also in attendance was Theodora’s paternal aunt, Queen Sofia of Spain, who came dressed to impress in a bright pink gown from Spanish designer Alejandro de Miguel.
