On a warm October evening, Sydney’s Curzon Hall glowed under chandeliers and candlelight as celebrities, makeup artists and beauty insiders alike gathered to celebrate the arrival of Clé de Peau Beauté. The global luxury skincare brand is finally available in Australia at David Jones stores.
Hosted by Erin Holland and guided by the theme “The Key to Radiance is You,” guests moved through a multi-sensory experience which was designed to showcase the brand’s signature fusion of science, craftsmanship and luxury.
Each room offered a deeper look into the brand’s groundbreaking concept of skin intelligence – the belief that our skin can learn, adapt and thrive when given the right hard-working formulations.
“We believe the skin is very clever,” explains Kiyoshi Sato, the brand’s Chief Technology Officer, who presented at the event. “It can distinguish between good and bad stimuli to maintain its best condition. We combine luxury with disruptive science to help skin self-optimise.”

What is Clé de Peau Beauté?
Owned by Japanese powerhouse Shiseido, the brand (its name translating to “the key to skin’s beauty”) the Clé de Peau Beauté skincare and makeup collection has launched exclusively at David Jones. The first counters to open are department store’s Chatswood Chase store in Sydney and Bourke Street store in Melbourne.
Skincare devotees who have had to fly to beauty mecca’s such as Tokyo, New York or Paris can now get their hands on the brand’s award-winning La Crème. The jewel of Clé de Peau Beauté”s crown, La Crème is the culmination of the brand’s extensive research.
Still not convinced? Formulated with over 60 ingredients, Sato describes La Crème as his career’s work, bottled.

Nicole Kidman As Ambassador
A fan of Le Creme is Nicole Kidman. Kidman has recently been announced as the global ambassador for the brand. A longtime user of the brand, she tells Marie Claire that her skin “completely changed” after using La Crème and The Foundation.
The A-lister’s partnership underscores Clé de Peau Beauté’s mission to empower women worldwide: a commitment reflected in the brand’s UNICEF partnership, which has supported the education of more than 12.4 million girls across 11 countries since 2019.

Cult-Worthy Products
There is a lot in Clé de Peau Beauté’s range that is worthy of investment. But one that you should look into when you first head to counter is The Serum. Formulated with radiant lily and lemon myrtle extract, this ultra lightweight serum acts as the precursor to all other skincare in the range and works to support skin barrier recovery, smoothness and luminosity.
At the event, the products drawing attention were the La Creme, The Foundation and The Concealer, which makeup artist to the stars Max May told Marie Claire he couldn’t “wait to get his hands on”.
Luxury Treatments
Also at the David Jones counter are annexed luxury treatment rooms that offer facial treatments that not only feel like real luxury but also have the ability to let you walk out looking radiant and lifted.
It’s this duality that defines Clé de Peau Beauté: scientific innovation meets censorial indulgence.
“Think of it as your complexion’s personal trainer,” Nancy Thong, Regional Brand Director told Marie Claire before the event. “It awakens your skin and conditions it to its best performance so that it can protect itself and boost that defence mechanism.”
“It’s all about awakening what already exists in the skin,” explains Thong. “We’re not masking or repairing; we’re re-educating.”

What Makes The Brand Unique?
At the heart of the brand is its dedication to exquisite craftsmanship. “Every detail of our products, from texture to packaging, reflects the highest standards of beauty and luxury,” says Mizuki Hashimoto, Chief Brand Officer.
With crystal-cut jars, refillable packaging and formulas that marry art and science, Clé de Peau Beauté is redefining radiance from the inside out.
As Nicolas Baudonnet, Chief Marketing and Business Officer, explains to Marie Claire, “We blend French elegance, the global language of luxury, with Japanese precision and attention to detail.”
Australian beauty lovers, your key to glowing, intelligent skin has arrived.
