The concert film is officially having a moment. Between Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour: The Final Show dropping tomorrow, Selena Gomez’s My Mind and Me (2022), Lizzo’s Live in Concert (2022), Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour (2024), and Beyoncé’s Renaissance (2023), it’s basically official: if your tour wasn’t made into a movie, did it even happen?

Billie Eilish is proving that hers did, firmly staking her claim in the genre with the help of James Cameron, who co-directs the film.

She has just dropped the first trailer for Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), and it is exactly the kind of immersive experience you want to get lost in.

The film hits theaters in 3D on March 20, 2026, capturing Eilish, 23, at the height of a record-breaking tour that spanned 106 shows across four continents.

The trailer opens with a surreal moment only a celebrity like Eilish could summon. She spots a fan camping outside her hotel window, and within minutes of sharing a photo, swarms of fans rush to catch a glimpse of her.

A playful tap on the glass sends them screaming in delight, a sweet, intimate moment that perfectly counterbalances the sheer spectacle of her tour.

Cameron appears in the trailer, hyping the cutting-edge technology behind the film. “No one’s shot a concert film on this scale before,” he says. “We’re using tech that’s never been used before.”

But Eilish is not just flexing production extravagence. The film also delves into vulnerability. She reflects, teary-eyed, on performing her first tour without her brother and long-time collaborator Finneas, reading a note he left her:

“It’s been the joy of my life to travel the world with you… Good luck tonight, but you don’t need it, no one does it like you do.”

Eilish first teased the Cameron collaboration during her July Manchester shows. “I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D. You and me, Manchester, are part of this project.”

Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour promises to be more than a showcase of hits. It is a cinematic love letter to fans, a behind-the-scenes look at one of music’s most compelling young artists, and proof that the concert film lives on.
