For all who celebrate (sorry Apple Music loyalists), Spotify Wrapped marks one of the most wonderful days of the year. With every annual Wrapped comes a slew of exciting new features and this year is no exception.
“There was some feedback on things that people wanted back. but I think where the focus will be is on the new features,” Head of Music at Spotify Australia and New Zealand, Ben Watts tells us.
The first of which, Watts points out is this year’s inclusion of Audiobook data, and given the astronomical rise of BookTok, we know it will be a welcomed addition. The top results say it all, really (ahem, Fourth Wing).
The most thrilling new addition is Spotify’s Fan Leaderboard, but there’s a catch…
Spotify Wrapped 2025 Leaderboard
If we’re being truly honest with ourselves, part of sharing your Spotify Wrapped each year is to claim bragging rights by making it into your favourite artist’s top percentile of listeners. Well, Spotify is turning it up to eleven this year by not only giving you a percentage but a finite ranking order. That’s right, a lucky few around the world will be able to claim they’re someone’s literal, number one fan.
“I think in terms of those huge fandoms around particular artists, there’s gonna be so much competition.”
If you ask us, this is one of the most exciting new features to come from the platform. It does come with an asterisk, however, as only those truly dedicated fans who make it into an artist’s top listeners will likely have access to the feature.
How Does Spotify Determine Your Listening Age?
According to Spotify, “your Listening Age is based on the idea of a “reminiscence bump,” which is the tendency to feel most connected to the music from your younger years.”
Then, they use the below factors to work some mathematical magic…
- “First, we look at the release dates of all of the songs you played this year.
- Next, we identify the five-year span of music that you engaged with more than other listeners your age.
- We’re hypothesizing that this five-year span matches your “reminiscence bump,” assuming you were between 16 and 21 years old when those tracks were released.”
Top Artists Guessing Game
“This year you get five [top artists] and before it tells you what it is, you get to guess what you think your favorite artist will be. So there’s that kind of gamification of it.”
But that’s not all, the platform also maps how your favourite artists fared against one another over the year, like battle of the bands for the streaming generation.
The feature looks at your top five artists and who was big at the start of the year. It’s kind of mapped as a race of your top artists, then who is the artist that kind of ends up being the top of your profile at the end of the year.”

What Are Spotify Wrapped Clubs?
Music is all about bringing people together and this year Spotify really said, ‘Welcome to the club.’
Spotify Wrapped clubs will group listeners together based on similar patterns and tastes, so you can find your musical soul mates.
“In the experience it will tell you what club you’re in and they are based on kind of the way you listen and the type of music you listen to.
Users will then be “put in a club and given a role in that club based on your behavior.”
Your Top 100 Playlist
Been meaning to make a playlist with all your top-played songs? Well, Spoitfy has you covered this year wrapping your top hits up for you.
“In terms of top songs, it gives you a playlist of your top 100 songs of the year, which is quite epic, but also it gives you the play count on all of those,” Watts tells us, before pointing out it could go two ways: “invigorating or quite embarrassing.”
