I love LA still

From Bottoms to The Idol, Rachel Sennott has cemented herself as one of Hollywood’s coolest rising stars. So, when HBO green-lit her new project, I Love LA, we knew we’d be tuning in.

Created, executive produced and starring Sennott, I Love LA “follows an ambitious friend group who navigates life and love in LA.”

The comedy  follows Tallulah (played by Odessa A’zion), an aspiring influencer managed by her ambitious friend Maia (Sennott), who’s determined to prove herself in the talent agency world. Together, they navigate a landscape of nepo babies, brand deals, and glamorous parties in a show that examines fame, friendship, and the price of going viral.

Naturally, I Love LA was inspired in part by Sennott’s own life, admitting to ELLE it was particularly the “messier” years that served as fodder for writing.

“I got into a relationship and I really locked into settled mode, and I was like, ‘I’m working and I’m sleeping and I’m not really doing anything fun’” she explained. “Then my Saturn return came along, and that’s where all of this inspo for the show came from.”

She went on to explain that she saw two versions of herself that then came to life through Maia and Tallulah.

I feel like my Saturn return was my old self punching me in the face and bringing me back.

“Tallulah is a representation of my old self and Maia is kind of like me in my worst control-freak era.”
