Almost one week after Taylor Swift dropped The Life Of A Showgirl, we finally know how her fiancé, Travis Kelce, feels about the album, specifically the song ‘Wood’.
The tracklist and lyrics have been ripe for dissection, from her heartbreaking ‘Ruin The Friendship’ to the alleged Charli XCX feud, but none has been more hotly discussed than her tune about Travis’ manhood.
The raunchy track is essentially an entire double entendre for Travis’ endowment, which as Taylor not so subtly suggests is sizable.
In a new episode of his New Heights podcast with brother, Jason Kelce, the NFL player finally shared his feelings about ‘Wood’. And, much to our delight, Jason, doesn’t let him off easy.
“Do you feel… do you feel… do you feel cocky about the song ‘Wood’?” Jason asked, struggling to find the words.
“No,” Travis responded. “Any song that she references me in is very…”
Before he could finish, Jason cut him off: “That’s not just any song. This is a very specific you.”
The Chiefs tight end tried to play coy, saying, “I love that girl, so what do you mean? Any song that she would reference me in that way…”
Again, Jason stayed firm. And, honestly, bless him for doing God’s work for all the Swifties dying to know Travis’ true thoughts.
“I think you’re not understanding the song.”
“Jesus Christ. Travis, come on,” Jason said. “‘Redwood tree ain’t hard to see.’ I thought: Redwood? That’s a little bit—that’s a generous word, I think. I think if somebody wrote a song about me, it’d be like, ‘Japanese maple sometimes can see.’ I have more of an ornamental tree.”
I quite literally laughed out loud.
It seems, however, stubbornness runs in the Kelce line because Travis wasn’t relenting either, simply giving us the verdict that ‘Wood’ is “a great song”.
We appreciate the effort though, Jason.
