The post The Long, Lived-In Fringe Is The Chicest Hair Update Of 2026 appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

I’ve always been intrigued by a fringe, but hesitant to commit. The appeal is obvious; the permanence less so. A haircut you can’t quietly grow out without entering an awkward, forehead-dominating phase.

Enter: the long, lived-in fringe, a style that feels less like a declaration and more like a suggestion, and one I’ve already seen everywhere in 2026.

Miley Cyrus debuted hers at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Ariana Grande followed at the 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards. Daisy Edgar-Jones is currently wearing a soft, sweeping version on set of her upcoming heist film Here Comes The Flood. Consider this less coincidence, more quiet consensus.

Long, lived-in and deliberately undone, this fringe is effortless, feathered and quietly transformative.

The length and density can be customised to suit most face shapes, and it works just as beautifully on fine hair as it does on thicker textures. In other words, it’s forgiving, flattering and refreshingly low-commitment – the holy trinity of modern hair decisions.

Tempted? Here’s what you need to know.

What Is The Long, Lived-In Fringe?

Miley Cyrus long, lived-in fringe

The extra-long fringe may be enjoying a moment, but it is hardly a novelty. In truth, it is one of fashion’s most reliable sleights of hand: a way to recalibrate your look without committing to a full aesthetic overhaul. For decades, it has been quietly favoured by those seeking a considered shake-up rather than a dramatic reinvention. Subtle, yes, but never accidental.

So what defines a long, lived-in fringe? Think of it as a modern offshoot of the butterfly fringe, designed to frame the face without feeling overly considered. It is not boxy or immaculate, never so precise that it looks styled within an inch of its life.

Ideally, it is cut to fall in soft, delicate sections, skimming the forehead and cheekbones rather than forming sharp lines or rigid structure. The emphasis is on texture, movement and air.

The result is framing rather than covering, movement rather than structure, and a finish that feels deliberately undone.

What Face Shape Suits A Long-Lived In Fringe?

The appeal of this style is in its flexibility, with density and length tailored to suit almost every face shape.

It softens the forehead on heart-shaped faces, creates balance on longer face shapes, and introduces movement where it’s needed most. Better still, it works across hair types, sitting just as naturally on fine strands as it does on thicker textures.

How To Style A Long-Lived In Fringe At Home

Styling should be minimal. A quick round-brush blowdry or even air-drying with a touch of texture spray is often all this fringe will need.

For a more separated finish, prep the hair with something lightweight, like Living Proof’s Restore Perfecting Spray before building texture with Living Proof’s Full Dry Volume + Texture Spray to give definition and hold without stiffness.

As the first Emily Henry book adaptation to hit our screens, anticipation over the release of People We Meet On Vacation is understandably high. Thankfully, the giddying wait is almost over.

The second adult romance (following her stint publishing a number of YA books) in Henry’s resume, the story of Poppy and Alex has become a favourite among the author’s ever-expanding fan base.

Now with the movie’s stunning leads, Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, taking to the red carpet the countdown to the premiere is officially reaching its final hours.

When Does People We Meet On Vacation Movie Come Out?

In Australia, People We Meet On Vacation is expected to drop on Netflix on January 9, 2026.

As with many of Netflix’s series, it’s expected that all episodes will drop at 12 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) which translates to 6pm AEDT in NSW and VIC, 5pm AEST in QLD and 3pm AWST for those in WA. See the full time conversion for Australian states below.

Australian Time ZoneTime Equivalent to 12 a.m. PT
Australian Western Standard Time (AWST)3:00 p.m. (same day)
Australian Central Standard Time (ACST)4:30 p.m. (same day)
Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT)5:30 p.m. (same day)
Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST)5:00 p.m. (same day)

Netflix first confirmed the summer release of the film via their social media accounts with a teaser featuring the voices of our two lead actors.

Scored over a calming beachy backdrop, Bader’s Poppy is heard asking “Where does Alex Nilsen stand on travel? Love or hate?”

“I mean, I’ve never really travelled anywhere. But this morning I saw this beautiful sunrise over this place that I’d never been before and I wouldn’t have if everything had gone according to plan. So love. I’m thinking love,” Blyth’s Alex responds.

What Is People We Meet On Vacation About?

Based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Emily Henry, People We Meet On Vacation traces the long-standing friendship between Polly and Alex.

Meeting during their college years at the University of Chicago, the two friends strike up an unlikely friendship despite their polar opposite personalities: Alex being the rule-following routine focus to Poppy’s free-spirited spontaneity. But you know what they say about opposites..

As a way to maintain their friendship after graduation, the friends hatch a plan to reunite each year at a holiday destination neither have been to before. Spurred on by Poppy’s insatiable wanderlust and travel blogger aspirations, Alex agrees, and so a decade of summers spent coming back together for a week, begins.

However, after an incident on one such trip, a communication breakdown threatens to unravel the dynamic they’ve worked so hard to create (or repress). Years of silence follow, until Poppy convinces Alex to meet her for one last jaunt in Croatia.

In case it’s not obvious, what ensues is a friends-to-lovers trope that ticks all the boxes, and then some, for rom-com lovers of all ages.

Who Is In The Film Adaption?

Announced earlier this year, Tom Bylth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes) is set to star as Alex Nielsen, while Emily Bader (star of the best show to ever get cancelled – My Lady Jane) will play co-lead Poppy Wright.

But the stacked cast list doesn’t end there. Joining the two leads is a roll call of notable names such as Sarah Catherine Hook (fresh off The White Lotus boat), Emily In Paris heartthrob Lucien Laviscount, Succession’s Alan Ruck and Jameela Jamil – just to name a few.

While the rest of the role allocations are still being kept under wraps, here’s where the cast announcements stand so far.

 • Tom Blyth as Alex
 • Emily Bader as Poppy
 • Sarah Catherine-Hook
 • Jameela Jamil
 • Lucien Laviscount
 • Lukas Gage
 • Alan Ruck
 • Molly Shannon
 • Tommy Do
 • Alice Lee
 • Miles Heizer

“I watched their chemistry read four times in 12 hours and I loved it more every single time,” Emily Henry told Tudum of Blyth and Bader’s casting. “The very first time I was laughing out loud, and I got so emotional by the end.”

The New Year may be behind us, but the urge to reset remains strong. With fresh collections and cultural moments beginning to roll in, January always carries a quiet sense of anticipation.

In the weeks ahead, Melbourne will play host to the Australian Open, bringing with it a wave of tennis-inspired fashion, while global Houses and heritage brands begin to set the tone for the year.

Luxury labels are revisiting their archives, contemporary names are pushing creative boundaries, and the result is a landscape that feels equal parts nostalgic and forward-facing.

From Chanel Beauty’s moody Rouge Noir revival to Fendi’s playful reimagining of the Peekaboo and Van Cleef & Arpels’ cultural collaborations, the month is delivering heritage, innovation and artistry in equal measure.

From retail to the runway, these are the must-know launches shaping January.

Chanel Revives Rouge Noir With A New Makeup Collection

Chanel Beauty revisits one of its most iconic shades with the launch of the Rouge Noir Makeup Collection, created by Ammy Drammeh of Chanel’s Comètes Collective. Rich, sultry and unmistakably Chanel, the collection moves beyond the nail polish that made the shade famous, spanning eyes, lips and cheeks in a palette of deep garnet, magenta, purplish pink and rich brown tones.

Rouge Noir’s origin story is pure fashion folklore. The shade was conceived overnight on the eve of the Autumn-Winter 1994/95 runway show by Dominique Moncourtois, Heidi Morawetz and Karl Lagerfeld, inspired by the dark lining of the house’s iconic 2.55 handbag. What emerged was a near-black red that felt radical at the time, redefining what “classic” beauty could look like.

Launched as a nail colour in 1995, Rouge Noir was initially dismissed as a passing trend. Three decades on, its return proves otherwise. The Rouge Noir Makeup Collection is available now at Chanel.com.

A Peek Inside Fendi’s Most Playful Bag Yet

FENDI is giving its iconic Peekaboo bag a playful new twist for Spring/Summer 2026, and it all began on the Milan runway in September, where models carried their bags slightly ajar, letting colour, sparkle and surprise spill out.

Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and first launched in 2008, the Peekaboo has always been about hidden beauty, a wink wrapped in leather. This season, the secret is proudly on display. Clean, minimal exteriors open to reveal jewel-like interiors adorned with paillettes, beads, studs and crystals, all handcrafted by FENDI’s artisans.

From shimmering sequins and floral mosaics to crystal motifs and a pink mink version requiring over 200 hours of work, each bag feels like a small reveal party. The collection is available for pre-order now and lands in boutiques on February 5.

Van Cleef & Arpels’ Dance Reflections program is deepening its commitment to Australia this January with a new collaboration at the Sydney Festival. Following its support of DanceX with The Australian Ballet in 2025, the initiative will present two acclaimed international works: Alessandro Sciarroni’s Save the Last Dance for Me and Eun-Me Ahn’s Post-Orientalist Express.

Sciarroni’s piece revives the near-forgotten Italian folk dance polka chinata, while Ahn delivers a vibrant, high-energy exploration of contemporary Asian identity. Performed across venues including Sydney Town Hall and the Roslyn Packer Theatre, the works bring global choreographic voices to Australian stages as part of the Festival’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Since the very first peptide lip treatment hit shelves complete with matching phone case holder, Australians have been asking when Hailey Bieber’s cult brand Rhode Beauty will launch here.

Now, we finally have our answer with Mecca and Rhode confirming the brand will finally be available to shop here as of February.

When Is Rhode Beauty Coming To Australia?

Rhode Beauty has announced “our complete collection on rhodeskin.com will ship to both countries” that being Australia and New Zealand, from February 12th at 6am AEDT.

A selection of products will also be available to shop exclusively at Mecca. In an Instagram announcement, the brand revealed: “on February 12th, you’ll be able to shop rhode online and at MECCA’s bourke street and george street flagship locations, followed by most stores on February 13th.”

Fans first became convinced that Rhode Beauty would launch in February 2026 following the announcement that Bieber is set to visit Australia.

The 28-year-old revealed she’s coming to our shores in 2026, appearing at the Sydney Opera House for Vogue’s Forces of Fashion talk, making for the perfect opportunity to also launch her label here.

The most viral hint came from beauty creator@livingluxwithmeredith, whose track record for predicting Mecca launches is notoriously strong.

In a video posted late last year, she teased that a “very, very big brand” is coming to Mecca in early 2026, then cheekily added that she’d “forgot her lip peptide” while eating a glazed doughnut.

A felt a little too on the nose? Perhaps. Within hours, TikTok and Reddit were convinced she was talking about Rhode.

Will Rhode Launch Into Sephora Australia?

Following the sale of Rhode Beauty to e.l.f Beauty for US $1Billion earlier this year, the brand launched into Sephora stores as part of its expansion. Does that mean Sephora will house the brand when it finally lands here?

At this stage, Rhode confirmed Mecca as the “exclusive” stockist here in Australia.

Separately, however, the retailer has openly acknowledged the possibility of future expansion. When asked by 9Honey, Sephora confirmed that Rhode is not yet available locally, but added that they “aim to be available in additional countries in the future.”

Has Elon Musk’s AI Chatbot Grok Become A Weapon Against Women? https://www.marieclaire.com.au/news/advocacy/elon-musk-ai-grok-sexualised-deepfakes/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 06:41:26 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502076 "It was uncomfortable to have that power asserted over you"

The post Has Elon Musk’s AI Chatbot Grok Become A Weapon Against Women? appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
An alarming number of complaints have surfaced after Elon Musk-founded AI chatbot, Grok, was used to generate sexualised images of women and children.

First created in July before being launched for public use in October, the AI image generator is hosted on X (formerly Twitter), allowing for fast, public and widespread sharing of Grok-created content. As recently as January 7th, the platform was allowing users to depict others in a sexually explicit nature.

One woman, Mollie, told The Cut, she found comments under a photo she posted to X in December, whereby users were prompting the AI chatbot to strip her down to a bikini.

“Put her in a micro bikini from this angle,” the user wrote, tagging the X AI chatbot. Grok complied, showing an AI-generated image of Mollie in the same position wearing a thong bikini instead of her original outfit.

“It was scary and it was uncomfortable to have that power asserted over you,” she says. “I’ve been sexually assaulted in the past, and it almost felt like a digital version of that.”

According to the publication, Mollie requested Grok remove the image, with the chatbot acknowledging “it violated your consent”. However, the image remains public on the social platform.

Not-for-profit organisation, AI Forensics conducted a report analysing 20,000 images created by Grok over a one-week period in December, finding two percent “depicted a person who appeared to be 18 or younger, including 30 of young or very young women or girls, in bikinis or transparent clothes”, Nine reports.

The social media platform addressed concerns via its safety account, but did not deny unconsensual sexualised content exists had been created by Grok.

“We take action against illegal content on X, including Child Sexual Abuse Material, by removing it, permanently suspending accounts, and working with local governments and law enforcement as necessary,” the post reads.

Technology-facilitated violence against women and girls has been rising at an alarming rate, with the intervention of AI, UN Women expects rates to increase dramatically.

Recent studies show “38 percent of women have personal experiences of online violence, and 85 percent of women online have witnessed digital violence against others.

Further studies show 90 to 95 percent of all online deepfakes are non-consensual pornographic images, with around 90 percent depicting women. In fact, “many deepfake tools are not even designed to work on images of a man’s body”, UN Women reveals.

Platforms hosting these tools must be held to a higher standard, particularly when they enable the creation and circulation of non-consensual sexual content in real time.

“The technology is moving far faster than the protections,” UN Women has warned adding that “Less than half of countries have laws that prosecute online abuse.”

For victims like Mollie, the damage is already done. Even when images are flagged or acknowledged as violating consent, they can be impossible to completely erase or get back — compounding the harm long after the initial act.

Ellidy Pullin Breaks Her Silence On The Rift With Chumpy Pullin’s Father https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/rift-ellidy-pullin-chumpys-father-chris/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 04:53:45 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502064 A complex conflict

The post Ellidy Pullin Breaks Her Silence On The Rift With Chumpy Pullin’s Father appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

Nearly six years after the death of Olympic snowboarder Alex “Chumpy” Pullin, differing views have emerged between members of his family and his partner regarding the charity established in his name.

Pullin died in July 2020 after a spearfishing accident on Queensland’s Gold Coast. In 2022, his partner Ellidy Pullin launched the Chumpy Pullin Foundation, initially focused on supporting youth sport.

His father Chris Pullin spoke out on January 7 about a bitter family rift that has left him estranged from his granddaughter.

What Concerns Did Chumpy Pullin’s Parents Raise?

In May 2024, Pullin’s parents, Chris and Sally Pullin, wrote to the foundation’s board expressing concern about what they described as a change in the organisation’s direction. In the email, they questioned a shift away from youth sport and towards mental health initiatives.

“Of course heading down the mental health path would not be upholding Chumpy’s ideals,” the email stated. “You cannot use his name to make the foundation popular and then manipulate that momentum to your own ends. If that happens, we would not allow you to use his name, or his image.

“I hope you can understand that Chumpy was a wonderful mentor and inspiration for people around him; it wasn’t mental health. I hope you can fulfil the original promise made to us at the inception of the foundation, a legacy in Chumpy’s name to live by his example.”

Chris Pullin has said the email did not receive a response. He has also stated that following the correspondence, communication between himself, his wife and Ellidy ceased. Ellidy has not publicly commented on those claims.

The circumstances are closely linked to the family’s ongoing connection through Minnie Alex Pullin, who was born in October 2021 after Ellidy conceived their daughter via posthumous IVF. Because the couple were not married at the time of his death, Pullin’s parents were required to give consent for the procedure, which they did.

What Happened After Sally Pullin’s Death?

Sally Pullin died in April 2025 after being diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma. Following her death, Ellidy shared a tribute on Instagram reflecting on their relationship.

“To remember this beautiful woman is to picture that warm, beaming smile and hear her cheeky giggle,” Ellidy wrote.

“I’ll forever cherish her special family lasagne recipe, and when she’d grab her ukulele of an afternoon and sing Chumpy’s song Four Babies over and over. We’d never get tired of that joyful voice. I love you, Sal…I know he’s holding you forever tight.”

Chris Pullin later told the Daily Mail he was upset by the post, saying: “Half of those photos weren’t even hers to post. She was acting like Sal’s daughter-in-law, but they weren’t married.”

Why Did The Chumpy Pullin Foundation Close?

The Chumpy Pullin Foundation ceased operations in December 2024. In its closing statement, the organisation said remaining funds would be directed towards youth mental health initiatives and outlined a range of programs it had supported, including scholarships, camps, workshops and junior sporting events.

Chris Pullin has said he was concerned the foundation’s focus on mental health could lead to confusion about the circumstances of his son’s death. Pullin drowned after suffering a shallow water blackout while spearfishing.

The Pullins were involved in early fundraising efforts for the foundation, contributing family photographs and personal items for auction. Chris has said he and Sally supported initial plans to create accommodation near Jindabyne to assist young athletes training in the Snowy Mountains, but that those plans did not proceed.

He has also said he is uncertain about the whereabouts of some of his son’s personal belongings following the sale of the Gold Coast home Ellidy shared with Pullin.

“Where all his stuff went I have no idea,” he said. “I’m quite sad about that.”

What Has Ellidy Said About The Rift?

Since Chris spoke out, Ellidy has turned her focus firmly to her daughter, Minnie, sharing a series of gushing posts that highlight their close bond. One especially touching clip shows Minnie telling her mum she is her hero before pulling her in for a hug.

In another Instagram Story, Ellidy wrote over a video of the pair, “You, my little girl, are the greatest gift in the world and I will protect you at all costs.”

Ellidy has recently spoken publicly about entering a new relationship and about moving forward after loss. She has previously stated that she was not closely involved in the foundation’s day-to-day operations.

Netflix Weighs In On The Secret ‘Stranger Things’ Finale Fans Can’t Stop Talking About https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/entertainment/stranger-things-new-episode/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 02:19:01 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502044 All good things must come to an end!

The post Netflix Weighs In On The Secret ‘Stranger Things’ Finale Fans Can’t Stop Talking About appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

Following the Stranger Things season five finale, rumours of a secret, unreleased final episode have taken hold online, with fans convinced the ending they were given may have been little more than a decoy.

Perceived plot holes, narrative inconsistencies and, most notably, Eleven’s bleak and ambiguous fate have all fuelled a growing theory: what if the “final” episode we watched was never meant to be the real ending at all?

Instead, many viewers now believe the finale released on Netflix was a calculated misdirect, with the true conclusion still being held back.

The speculation gained further momentum when users noticed something curious on Netflix itself. Typing the phrase “fake ending” into the platform’s search bar returns Stranger Things as the top result. The coincidence has sent fans into overdrive, with many questioning whether Netflix is quietly playing along.

As the theory spread under the viral Conformity Gate banner, the show’s official social media accounts made a subtle but noticeable update. Their bios were changed to read: “ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING.”

Stranger Things new episode
Image: Netflix

The update on TikTok and Instagram was quickly picked up by fans, with many interpreting it as a deliberate response from Netflix to the rumours.

Meanwhile, Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp, who has played Will Byers since season one, has made it clear he believes the story is complete. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter released on January 6, Schnapp said he felt the series ended exactly as it should.

“I remember crying a lot at the final table read. They had us read it for the first time all together and I just think it was perfect,” he said.

He added that creators Matt and Ross Duffer fully closed the story:

“They really left nothing more to be told.”

Show creator Matt Duffer also addressed Millie Bobby Brown’s intentionally ambiguous ending for Eleven.

“The characters can’t know and the audience can’t know because then it puts Eleven in danger and her sacrifice was for nothing. So there’s a point in not knowing. The boys obviously choose to believe. I’m not sure what the majority of people are thinking, but dipping my toes a little bit into social media, it seems like people are choosing to believe and are going to Mike Wheeler route,” he said.

Many had speculated that a secret episode would drop at 8pm EST in the US. However, with that window now passed, it appears the Conformity Gate theory may finally be losing steam.

The comment section on Stranger Things’ most recent official post has since been flooded with reactions, including “I believed until the last minute 😢” and “Honestly? Even if episode 9 doesn’t drop, this whole thing was very fun.”

For now, it seems the collective theorising, sleuthing and wishful thinking has reached its natural conclusion. All good things must come to an end — even Stranger Things.

Teagan Croft Is Disney’s New Rapunzel And Australia’s Latest Breakout Star https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/entertainment/teagan-croft-rapunzel-tangled-live-action/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 00:47:12 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502019 We have a new Disney darling

The post Teagan Croft Is Disney’s New Rapunzel And Australia’s Latest Breakout Star appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

Australia’s presence in Disney’s live-action renaissance continues to grow.

Fresh off her breakout turn in True Spirit, Teagan Croft has been announced as the new Rapunzel in Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming live-action Tangled, marking a major milestone in the 21-year-old actor’s rapidly accelerating career.

Who Is Teagan Croft?

Croft’s path into acting began early. At just nine years old, she took to the stage as Scout Finch in a theatrical adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, a performance that quickly drew industry attention.

By 2016, she had secured the title role in the feature film The Osiris Child and a recurring role as Bella Loneragan on Home and Away, signalling the start of a career moving quickly beyond local screens.

Her international breakthrough came with DC’s Titans, where she starred as Raven from 2018 to 2023. The emotionally complex, half-demon superhero became a fan favourite, with Croft’s performance praised for its balance of vulnerability and intensity. The role cemented her status as one of Australia’s most promising young exports.

More recently, she fronted Netflix’s True Spirit, portraying Australian sailor Jessica Watson in the film adaptation of Watson’s solo circumnavigation. Despite the film’s success, Croft has remained strikingly grounded, previously telling marie claire she was balancing auditions with her first year of university.

Born in Sydney, Croft is the niece of Australian actresses Penny and Jessica McNamee, making her part of one of the country’s quietly influential acting dynasties.

What Do We Currently Know About Disney’s Live-Action Tangled?

Croft will step into the role of Rapunzel, the luminous, long-locked heroine originally voiced by Mandy Moore in Disney’s 2010 animated classic.

She stars opposite Milo Manheim, best known for Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise, who has been cast as charming runaway thief Flynn Rider.

Directing duties fall to Michael Gracey, a filmmaker fluent in spectacle and sentiment in equal measure. With The Greatest Showman and Better Man to his name, Gracey brings a distinctly cinematic, music-forward sensibility to the project, signalling a reimagining that leans into both visual grandeur and emotional payoff.

The screenplay comes from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, with longtime Disney collaborator Kristin Burr producing, ensuring the film is anchored by hands well-versed in balancing nostalgia with reinvention.

Gracey had previously hinted at conversations around the project in late 2024, telling IF in December 2024 that while nothing was locked in, it would be “incredible” to bring Tangled to life. “There are a number of projects that I’m super excited about,” he said. “With those, you don’t know whether you’re one draft away from being able to jump in and make it or six drafts, so you have to wait and see.”

Tangled joins a growing slate of Disney live-action adaptations, following The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Lilo & Stitch and the upcoming Moana.

Is Teagan Croft Also A Singer?

She certainly is. Stepping into Rapunzel’s tower comes with serious musical expectations, and while Croft is best known for her screen work, music has long sat at the centre of her creative orbit. Speaking previously to RUSSH, she reflected, “Music is as close as I’ll get to religion. There’s this universal feeling that music has, like a universal emotive code that we all can inherently crack.”

She has also spoken candidly about music’s grounding role in her everyday life. Telling marie claire australia that her go-to method for calming her nerves is soundtracked, “There’s this ’90s song I play by A Tribe Called Quest that reminds me to relax. It goes, ‘Relax yourself, girl, please settle down.’” Consider it her personal mantra, and now, perhaps, Rapunzel’s too.

And if early signs are anything to go by, Croft’s turn as Rapunzel may be the role that finally shifts her from rising star to household name.

The post The Cast Of ‘Industry’ Dishes On Everything You Need You Know About Season Four appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
It’s 6am on a Friday, and I’m having breakfast with Kit Harrington, Marisa Abela, Max Minghella and Myhal’la. Well, technically, I’m having breakfast, and they’re preparing to go to bed as they dial into our Zoom call from London.

“Morning,” greets Marisa in a crisp white button-down and polka dot tie. On a taupe velvet armchair, Myhal’la strokes her large grey cat, Natalia. “She’s a big, lazy baby,” she quips. Beside her, Kit and Max exchange the usual pleasantries.

The group, who make up the cast of the hit series Industry, are eager to discuss the long-awaited return of the show’s fourth season.

Marisa Abela as Yasmin Kara-Hanani in Industry season 4.

The high-stakes series, which returns to HBO on January 11, follows a group of ambitious young bankers navigating the cutthroat world of London’s elite investment scene. It’s a razor-sharp portrait of ambition, power, and the personal cost of success, set in the pressure-cooker of a London trading floor.

The series starts with a group of graduates as they navigate the chaotic, cortisol-raising energy of the global investment bank, Pierpoint.

Here we meet Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela), the polished yet quietly ruthless daughter of a media magnate and Harper Stern (Myhal’la), a fiercely ambitious American outsider with no family money or safety net, who weaponised her intelligence and deception to survive Pierpoint at any cost.

As the series unfolds, its lens gradually widens beyond Pierpoint’s fluorescent-lit walls, peeling back the characters’ professional personas to reveal the messier realities of their lives outside the bank. Here we see how family, class, trauma and desire shape who they are.

Kit Harington as Sir Henry Muck in Industry season 4.

By the end of season three, Pierpoint has been sold off, leaving the characters unmoored, and we watch Yasmin marry Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington), a troubled yet wealthy aristocratic financier and political power broker. By choosing status and security over freedom, the union leaves her emotionally isolated and further entangled in elite power structures.

Meanwhile, Harper ends season three by joining forces with a billionaire power broker and his shadowy hedge fund world, abandoning sentiment entirely as she steps into a colder, more ruthless tier of financial power.

“Every season, there’s an evolution. We gradually take the audience to this place once they understand who these women are and why they make the choices that they make,” says Marisa.

The brilliance of Industry lies in how it pulls back the veil, exposing finance not just as an engine of wealth, but as a powerful political force shaping the world beyond the trading floor.

It reveals how extreme wealth doesn’t just move markets, but shapes elections, steers public narratives, and quietly dictates who holds power.

Myha’la as Harper Stern in Industry season 4.

“[Before doing Industry] I didn’t know how much people in finance control politics, how much money influences politics, how much money influences the media and how much the media influences politics,” says Myhal’la. “Girl, those one percenters are all scissoring each other. As a regular person, it’s pretty intense.”

For Harper and Yasmin, the pressure of working side by side initially forges their bond, with Marisa and Myha’la drawing on their own working friendship to shape the tension, rhythm and shorthand of the on-screen relationship.

“The fact that we work in the same industry means we have so much of a shared language and an understanding of each other’s lives,” says Marisa.

“Myhal’la is a brilliant actress, and I feel incredibly lucky to work with her. I see a lot of myself and her ambition, and I see a lot of myself in the way that she moves through her career. I’m incredibly proud of her as an actress, but we are great friends. How we met and why we know each other has everything to do with our relationship.”

A new addition to the season is Max Minghella, who you might recognise from his role as Nick Blaine in The Handmaid’s Tale. Max joins the cast as Whitney Halberstram, the CFO and founder of payment processing company Tender.

Max Minghella as Whitney Halberstram in Industry season 4.

Max admits he initially had some trepidation about joining the established cast, mainly due to the dense financial jargon in the series.

“Luckily, I had a lot of emotional support from Mr Kit Harrington. He was unbelievable on this journey of Industry, both off-screen and on,” says Max.

“He held my hand through something that I felt quite intimidated by. Over the course of a season, I went from finding it overwhelming to completely rewarding and addictive. I became addicted to how hard it was.”

In fact, the pair share many scenes this season, with Whitney’s story centring on his complex, multi-layered relationship with Henry.

“It’s a really complicated relationship. It starts with Henry and Whitney needing something from the other; on a shallow level, there are business opportunities for each of them,” says Max.

“But he also admires Henry’s sense of self. It comes from privilege; these are things he lacks and admires. On the flip side, there is a confidence to Whitney that I think is appealing to Henry.”

“[It’s funny] I grew up being very envious of privately educated or public school boys in the UK. Now I’ve developed empathy and understanding,” adds Kit.

Season four of Industry is streaming on HBO on January 11.

Charlee Fraser Reflects On Presence, Purpose, And Time Well Spent https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/accessories/charlee-fraser-omega/ Thu, 08 Jan 2026 00:14:47 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502104 Holding time

The post Charlee Fraser Reflects On Presence, Purpose, And Time Well Spent appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Charlee Fraser is sitting somewhere in Queensland, cicadas humming loudly enough to puncture the quiet, when she starts talking about time. Not time as a deadline or a schedule or a thing to be outrun – but as something more fluid. Something, as she puts it, that can be “an indicator, rather than a dictator.”

Given she now calls LA home, Fraser is technically on holiday. There is a lagoon in front of her – she mentions it in passing, aware of how idyllic it sounds. She speaks slowly, deliberately, choosing her words with care. It becomes clear, within minutes, that this is not someone interested in racing through life. She has already done that.

A proud Awabakal woman, Fraser was born in Newcastle, on the coast of New South Wales. She grew up climbing trees, riding motorbikes, skating with a single rollerblade, and making potions from flowers, rocks and dirt in the backyard. Her parents were always collecting animals – cats, dogs, goats, sheep, even a peacock at one point – and nature was never a weekend escape, but a constant presence. “We were just always outside,” she says. “With the animals. With the land.”

At 18, she was scouted and thrown into a fashion industry she knew almost nothing about. She joined IMG, rose quickly through the Australian ranks, then experienced a breakout international season at Fall/Winter 2016 that would change everything. Her star-is-born moment came just before Alexander Wang’s New York Fashion Week show, when legendary hairstylist Guido Palau cut her long hair into a sharp bob. American Vogue dubbed her “the new face to know” almost immediately. That season, she walked more than 40 shows – Prada, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Céline – becoming the first Indigenous Australian model to work consistently with the world’s most powerful fashion houses.

For a while, the pace was relentless. The shows. The flights. The expectations. Fraser talks about her early twenties as a time when she was perpetually running – late, breathless, overstimulated. “I always felt like I was running out of time,” she says. “There was never enough of it. I had lists for everything. I was chasing something we’d created.”

Then came a shift. In her late twenties – a period she links instinctively to her Saturn return – Fraser began what she describes as an inner journey. COVID, she says, accelerated everything. “The last five years have been completely transformative. I’m still me – but I know myself now.” That self-knowledge fundamentally changed her relationship with time. “Time doesn’t exist to me in the way we’ve made it,” she says. “My life exists. So where I put my time is where I’m placing my life.”

It’s a philosophy that now informs everything – from the projects she accepts to the rituals that anchor her days. Fraser meditates, journals, moves her body daily. She eats at least one meal a day in complete silence – no phone, no book, no distraction. “Just sitting. Just eating,” she says. “It’s so grounding.”

She journals obsessively. There’s a dream journal. A feelings journal. A daily record of what she’s done and how she felt. She has notebooks dating back to high school, filled with fragments: crushes, anger, half-formed thoughts. “It’s like a scrapbook of my life,” she says. Stillness, for Fraser, is not emptiness. It’s where creativity lives. “When the thinking part of your brain is busy – washing dishes, driving – your subconscious comes through,” she explains. “That’s where the magic is.”

This attentiveness to the inner world has reshaped her work, too. After more than a decade in fashion, Fraser turned her focus toward acting. In 2023, she landed roles in two major films: Warner Bros.’ Furiosa and Sony’s romantic comedy Anyone But You. For Furiosa, she trained relentlessly – combat, riding, physical conditioning, acting – throwing herself into preparation with characteristic intensity. “If I’m in, I’m 110 per cent in,” she says. “I love being challenged. I love learning new skills.”

She doesn’t romanticise the process. “I didn’t pace myself,” she admits. “I just threw myself into it.” But she also recognises that modelling had prepared her for this moment: the vulnerability of being watched, the ability to take direction, the stamina required to move constantly, the discipline of showing up. “I came into acting with lived experience,” she says. “That’s a privilege.”
Her latest project, Stake Out, sees Fraser starring alongside Brenton Thwaites and Danny Huston in a taut, psychological horror-thriller.

As she’s grown older, Fraser has become more selective. There was a deliberate “yes year” in her early twenties – a personal experiment in saying yes to everything. Then came a phase of almost total refusal. Now, she’s found equilibrium. “If it’s not a fuck yes, it’s a no,” she says, plainly. “Your time and your energy are resources.”

That discernment extends beyond work. Fraser describes herself as introverted, though not rigidly so. She can be magnetic and social – but it takes intention. Solitude, she says, is where she resets. “I’m very independent. I’m used to being alone. I love my solo escapes.”

Her relationship with time has recently taken on a new, tangible form. As an ambassador for Omega, Fraser wears a watch daily – something she never imagined she would do. Specifically, an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 30mm. “The last time I can remember wearing a watch was around the age of four when my grandparents began teaching me about ‘time’,” she says. “At that age, I felt confused and imprisoned by the concept. Avoidant, uninterested, and unnecessary. Why did I need to know how to ‘tell time’? My adolescence was meant for creativity, adventure, and learning.”

Now, she says, the feeling is entirely different. “With everything that has evolved in the world since – technology and social media specifically – putting on a watch now after all these years feels like freedom. Without having to look at a screen or spot a digital clock, a mere peak at my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 30mm to mark the day has returned much more of my youth and presence than I ever deeply considered over wearing a timepiece.”

She pauses, then adds: “I’m far less distracted, more accomplished, and feel a sense of reclamation. There’s more space for mindfulness, imagination, invention and venture. I feel a step closer to nature and connection – not just with the world, but people too.”

It’s a striking inversion: a watch, long associated with pressure and productivity, becoming a tool for presence. “From someone who’s always felt ‘out of time’,” she says, “to someone who now has ‘nothing but time’.”

The future isn’t something she’s trying to outrun. There are films coming. A video game. Creative experiments she can’t yet name. But more than anything, she’s interested in spending time well – with people who value her, in work that feels aligned, in moments that allow her to feel deeply. “Even crying,” she says. “I love crying. It means I care.” Time, after all, is no longer something she’s chasing. “Time is my life,” she says again. “So what I’m excited to spend my life doing is becoming clearer.”

Chris Briney Is Leaving Connie Baby Behind With New Film https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/entertainment/clashing-through-the-snow-chris-briney/ Wed, 07 Jan 2026 23:52:44 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1502021 Don't panic, it's just for now

While we impatiently await The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, fans of the series may be able to get their Connie Baby fix via other avenues. Actor Chris Briney has officially been cast in a new film, Clashing Through The Snow.

Per Deadline, the upcoming project sees Briney stepping into the lead of a fresh Amazon MGM Studios comedy feature that’s shaping up to be a holiday season favorite.

Billed as a sort of Planes, Trains and Automobiles for a new generation, Clashing Through The Snow will be directed by Carlson Young, best known for her work on Upgraded, and penned by Love Hard writers Daniel Mackey and Rebecca Ewing. Production is slated to kick off in February, with the film targeting a 2026 holiday release—meaning fans might get to see Briney in a very different setting before Conrad Fisher returns to screens.

While details about Briney’s character and the female lead haven’t been revealed yet, the tone and creative team suggest a festive, laugh-filled romp through seasonal chaos that will once again have us head over heels from Chris Briney at Christmas. We can only hope there are many wet-haired and festive cable-knit clad moments involved.

Given both The Summer I Turned Pretty and Clashing Through The Snow are being produced under the banned of Amazon’s MGM Studios, fans can optimistically assume the anticipated post-finale TSITP film timeline is being accounted for.

In December of 2025, creator Jenny Han shared an update on the long-awaited movie adaptation, revealing that while she’s made significant progress on the script, it won’t be arriving as soon as many fans had hoped.

“I just wrote it,” Han said during TheWrap’s 2025 Power Women Summit, “we haven’t filmed anything yet.”

Initially fans speculated a Christmas 2025 release may be on the cards, given how significant the holiday is to the series plotlines. However, Han quickly shut this down to avoid any disappointment.

“I know everyone was hoping it would come out this Christmas,” she explained, “but unfortunately, that’s not happening. It’s not possible.”

Call us hopeful, but that could mean Christmas 2026 is a possibility. A Chris Briney festive double feature is now officially top of our wish-lists.

Think of your favourite button-down shirt: crisp, timeless, maybe slightly wrinkled in a way that just works. It doesn’t try too hard, and it always feels like the right choice. That’s more or less what percale sheets bring to a bedroom. Cool and comfortable with a bit of structure—an unfussy classic.

Like a good shirt, percale sheets land somewhere between effort and ease. They’re breathable and light, with that cool-to-the-touch feel that’s more reminiscent of hotel bedding than anything you’d expect to actually own. And while linen has had a well-documented run—washed, rumpled, romantic—it might be time for a shift. Percale isn’t new, but it feels ready for its renaissance.

The Best Percale Sheets, According To marie claire:

So, what is percale, really? Technically, it’s a type of weave—one-over, one-under—that gives the fabric its smooth finish and signature crispness. Not shiny or silky, but matte and tailored, in the best possible way. It delivers big on that freshly laundered feeling—clean, cool, and perfectly crisp.

Thankfully, when it comes to percale, you don’t need to fixate on thread count. Higher numbers aren’t always better.

What actually matters is the quality of the cotton. Long-staple varieties—like Egyptian or Pima—create stronger, smoother yarns that wear in, not out. They soften over time without losing the structure that made you fall in love with them in the first place.

Ahead, a roundup of the best percale sheets to bring that crisp, hotel-bed feeling home. No room key required.

What Are Percale Sheets?

Percale sheets are a type of cotton sheet woven using a one-over-one-under pattern, creating a crisp, breathable fabric. They typically have a matte finish and are known for their cool feel, making them ideal for hot sleepers or warm climates.

What Is The Difference Between Percale And Sateen Sheets?

Percale sheets have a crisp, matte finish and a cool feel, while sateen sheets have a silky texture and slight sheen due to their four-over-one-under weave. Sateen tends to be heavier and warmer, whereas percale is lighter and cooler.

Are Percale Sheets Good For Hot Sleepers?

Yes, percale sheets are excellent for hot sleepers. The lightweight weave allows for maximum airflow and breathability, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating during the night.

Do Percale Sheets Get Softer Over Time?

Yes, high-quality percale sheets tend to get softer with each wash. While they start off crisp, they become more comfortable and smooth over time without losing their signature breathability.

What Thread Count Is Best For Percale Sheets?

A thread count between 200 and 400 is ideal for percale sheets. Higher isn’t always better—too high a thread count can reduce breathability, which defeats the purpose of percale’s cool, crisp design.

Do Percale Sheets Wrinkle Easily?

Yes, percale sheets are prone to wrinkling due to their crisp weave and natural fibres. However, many people appreciate this relaxed look. Some brands offer wrinkle-resistant treatments or cotton blends if you prefer a smoother appearance.

I Came For One Thing And Left With A Cart Full Of Designer Pieces, Thanks To The Outnet’s Sale https://www.marieclaire.com.au/shopping/the-outnet-sale/ Wed, 07 Jan 2026 05:50:13 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1267724 Must-shop pieces

Over time, I’ve learned that the secret to shopping well during a sale is going in with intention. A clear wishlist changes everything. Whether it’s elevated knitwear, a great pair of trousers, investment shoes, or the perfect occasion piece, knowing what you’re looking for helps filter out the noise and avoid impulse buys that haven’t earned their place in your wardrobe.

This is where The Outnet really excels. It’s one of the few platforms offering significant discounts on designer pieces year-round. For the uninitiated, The Outnet is part of the YOOX Group and the sister site to Net-A-Porter. It receives authentic, previous-season stock from over 350 designer brands such as Toteme, Khaite, Zimmerman and Tory Burch, often at discounts of up to 70 per cent off the original retail price.

What To Shop At The Outnet, According To marie claire:

There’s a lot of product on The Outnet, so while I do love a good scroll, there are a few shopping strategies I swear by. I always start by searching by brand or designer to tailor to what I actually wear. Filter by size early to avoid disappointment, as availability can be limited, and don’t underestimate the value of shopping off-season — buying winter tailoring in summer or statement dresses well ahead of event season is often where the best discounts are hiding.

If you’re after something specific or tracking a particular brand, saving items to your wishlist and setting up alerts for new drops is well worth doing. As a bonus, the site delivers the same seamless shopping experience we’ve come to expect from the Net-A-Porter group — while not quite as luxurious, delivery is reliable, the checkout process is smooth, and returns are straightforward.

Needless to say, any visit to The Outnet that begins as a quick browse rarely ends that way. More often than not, it turns into a cart filled with wardrobe staples and considered investment pieces — proof that the smartest shopping doesn’t always happen at full price. Keep scrolling to shop our current picks from the site below.

The post Odessa A’zion Is Hollywood’s Most Compelling New It-Girl appeared first on marie claire.

With a growing list of screen credits and a rapidly rising profile, Odessa A’zion is fast establishing herself as one of Hollywood’s most compelling young talents. At just 25, the actor has already delivered notable performances in Marty Supreme and I Love LA, earning attention for her grounded, contemporary presence on screen.

A’zion’s career has been steadily building for several years, with earlier roles in series including Fam and Ghosts, as well as film appearances such as Am I Okay? opposite Dakota Johnson.

Raised in a creative household as the daughter of actor Pamela Adlon and producer Felix O. Adlon, she has been immersed in the industry from a young age, developing a clear sense of confidence and presence. A brief cameo in the Jaden Smith dating canon in 2017 also introduced her to public curiosity, well before her career gained momentum.

Alongside her growing body of work, A’zion is also gaining recognition for her considered approach to fashion. Rather than relying solely on established designers, she has shown a willingness to take an active role in shaping her red-carpet image. A penchant for black and oversized tailoring, paired with her now-famous curls (which have their own discourse), has quickly become her signature.

At the New York premiere of Marty Supreme in December, A’zion wore a custom 1920s-inspired black gown that she co-designed with L’Atelier 7474 and Maison Privée in Los Angeles. The look was one of the most talked-about of the evening, reinforcing her view of fashion as an extension of personal expression.

As her career continues to gain momentum, A’zion is proving to be a talent worth watching, both for her performances and her growing presence on the red carpet circuit.

Below, we take a closer look at Odessa A’zion’s most memorable looks to date.

Family Of Bondi Attack Victim Calls For Tighter Gun Control As He’s Laid To Rest https://www.marieclaire.com.au/news/peter-mar-funeral-gun-control-bondi/ Wed, 07 Jan 2026 03:28:57 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1501879 “What can you do with six guns that you can’t do with four?"

The post Family Of Bondi Attack Victim Calls For Tighter Gun Control As He’s Laid To Rest appeared first on marie claire.

Peter Meagher, one of 15 victims of the December 14 Bondi terror attack and the last to be laid to rest, was farewelled this morning at St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, where over 1000 family members, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate his life.

The service, led by Father Richard Leonard, honoured the 61-year-old as a NSW Police detective and a much-loved figure in the rugby community. In his opening address, Father Leonard described Meagher’s death as “tragic and criminal”. “Peter’s life was taken suddenly, violently and far too soon,” he said. “It feels wrong, because it is wrong, and today the church does not pretend otherwise.”

In his eulogy, Peter’s brother, journalist David Meagher, made a powerful statement calling for further gun reform in Australia.

“What happened in Bondi on December 14 was undoubtedly an attack on Jewish people, that is not in dispute,” he said.

“Speaking about the Bondi attack, I heard a very famous Australian say over the weekend, ‘This is not a gun problem, this is an anti-Semitism problem.’ Neither myself nor any other member of our family have any desire to wade into the controversy that has arisen in the wake of the Bondi attack. We are here for Peter and to celebrate the life he lived.

“But when I heard this, I thought, ‘Why can’t it be two things at once?’ Just as we must ask why those killers did what they did, we must also ask how they were able to do it.”

Two days after the anti-Semitic attack in Bondi, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was “ready for the fight” to tighten gun laws in Australia, even as the Nationals and gun groups pushed back on his proposed gun reforms. The NSW Government also announced on December 19 that it would be introducing the “toughest gun laws in a generation”, limiting the number of guns one person can own from 10 to four.

“The killer on December 14 had six legally acquired high-powered guns, which were used to kill 15 people, including my brother,” David continued. “Under new laws, he would be allowed to have four guns.

“What can you do with six guns that you can’t do with four?

“Gun reform alone will not solve hatred or extremism, but an anti-Semite without a gun is just a hate-filled person; an anti-Semite with a gun is a killer.”

He continued: “All Australians should be able to attend a religious celebration or go to the beach, or walk the streets on New Year’s Eve or Mardi Gras without the fear of being shot. Unfortunately, for my family, we no longer have the luxury of being able to say, ‘That will never happen to us.’

“My brother was a police officer for more than 30 years. He carried a gun every day of his working life and he never drew it once. He was a cop and even he didn’t need a gun.

“My biggest fear now about Peter is that in the years to come, when people think about him, he will be remembered mostly for the way he died. So I ask you, when you think about Peter, it would be great if you could think about the life he lived, which was a full and rewarding one.

“But if you do think about how his life ended, perhaps reflect on what can be done to prevent it from happening to someone else.”

No one could have predicted the box office success of Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried’s thriller, The Housemaid – with the exception, of course, of fans of the original book.

The story, based on the novel of the same name by Frieda McFadden follows Millie (Sweeney), a woman down on her luck who takes a live-in housekeeping job for a wealthy couple, Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). On the surface, it’s a dream opportunity: a beautiful house, steady income, a fresh start. But very quickly, things feel… off.

What begins as a “rich people behaving badly” story spirals into a dark power play full of unreliable characters, buried trauma, and sharp plot twists that completely flip your understanding of who’s victim and who’s dangerous.

Having already surpassed an eye-watering $133 million globally, Lionsgate have now enthusiastically greenlit a sequel to the film.

The film is expected to follow McFadden’s second book in the trilogy, The Housemaid’s Secret, with Sydney Sweeney reprising her role, per Variety.

“It’s been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew,” director Paul Feig said in a statement.

“We’re lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie’s journey on the page, and that we get to work with [screenwriter] Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences.”

The Housemaid movie still with Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar

What Is The Housemaid’s Secret About?

Once again centred on Millie Calloway, the story follows her attempt to rebuild her life — an effort complicated by the lingering shadow of her past.

Drawn into a new role within another affluent household, Millie finds herself navigating a familiar landscape of wealth, control and concealed truths.

As psychological tension mounts, McFadden revisits her central themes of power, perception and vulnerability, proving that escape is rarely as simple as walking away.

On January 1, Ashley Tisdale rang in the new year by publishing an essay via The Cut detailing her decision to leave a “toxic” mum group. Titled Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group.

If you haven’t yet read it, consider this the brief version. Ashley Tisdale, former Disney star and now a mother of two with husband Christopher French, has published a candid essay reflecting on her decision to step away from a mum group that no longer felt supportive and had begun to feel quietly exclusionary.

In it, she peels back the polished image of celebrity motherhood to reveal something familiar: being left out. Not in an overt or confrontational way, but in the subtle, emotionally bruising way many women recognise instantly.

A glance at Tisdale’s Instagram suggests this is no ordinary playdate circle. The group is widely believed to include Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor, who have all been pictured together on multiple occasions, including a mums’ weekend away in August 2022, which Trainor captioned, “I have mom friends🥹 and I love them💖.”

Hillary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, has since chimed into the discourse, all but proving his famous wife is who Ashley is talking about.

Naturally, this all adds a layer of intrigue. Even at the highest levels of fame, it seems, social dynamics remain surprisingly universal.

In the essay, Tisdale explains that she was seeking connection in the early months of motherhood, gravitating towards women in the same stage of life. She writes:

“I needed to talk to someone else who related to what I was going through: the mood swings, the late nights, saying goodbye to who I used to be and getting to know my daughter and the new person I was becoming. So I felt lucky when my friend brought together a group of new moms that she knew.”

At first, it felt like exactly what she needed. “By the time we started getting together for playdates and got the group chat going, I was certain that I’d found my village,” she writes. “But over time, I began to wonder whether that was really true.”

The shift was gradual. Invitations stopped. Plans happened without her. She recalls being left out of a gathering organised while she was there, adding, “I still don’t get why I wasn’t at the girl hang that they all planned at my daughter’s birthday.” Eventually, the pattern became clear. “This group had a pattern of leaving someone out. And that someone had become me.”

Ashley continued, “All of a sudden, I was in high school again, feeling totally lost as to what I was doing ‘wrong’ to be left out.”

While Tisdale never named names, readers were quick to speculate. Fans noticed that she unfollowed Duff and Moore on Instagram around the same time. Tisdale and her representatives have since claimed that the essay refers to a different group of friends entirely, though many remain unconvinced.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Hilary Duff’s husband, Grammy-winning musician Matthew Koma, shared a mock cover of The Cut with his face photoshopped over Ashley’s, a pointed nod to the essay she had written.

Koma captioned the Instagram story, “When you’re the most self obsessed tone deaf person on Earth, other mums tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers.”

For now, it appears the mum-group fallout is far from over.

Do you know what’s nasty? Feathered Saint Laurent heels with a Pucci outfit. At least, that is the verdict delivered by 20-year-old Alabama Barker, daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and stepdaughter of Kourtney Kardashian.

Pop-punk by lineage and Kardashian by marriage, she occupies a cultural position where luxury is less aspiration than inheritance.

Over Christmas, Barker uploaded a nine-minute haul video that unfolded as a study in insouciant excess. A Birkin from Kourtney, reportedly worth more than $30,000. A Balenciaga City bag from Kendall Jenner, just under $5,000. Fuzzy Hermès slides from matriarch Kris. Enough Chrome Hearts and Cartier to to rival a boutique counter.

Internet accountants quickly crunched the numbers for the entire haul and arrived somewhere north of $300,000.

@alabamabarker

Yes I’m out of breath always, yes my ear is split lol anyways enjoy I love you guys down ! 💗🙈 #fyp #haul #xmas

♬ original sound – Alabama barker

The gifts were classified as either “nasty” or “tea”, which is the kind of compressed language only youth can sustain. But the moment that travelled was not the gifts themselves. It was the reference. Unboxing a pair of Saint Laurent heels, Barker remarked, “Nasty. With a Pucci outfit? Nasty,” and moved on to unboxing her next gift.

By the next morning, her comment section had become a forum for genuine inquiry. Comments included “What is poochie?” and “I don’t get it, what is a Pucci outfit?” Somewhere in Florence, an archivist quietly wept.

Those with even a passing familiarity with the house quickly joined in, posting their own videos, holding up everything from jelly slides and sneakers to their own feathered heels and declaring that yes, these too would be nasty with a Pucci outfit.

For the uninitiated: Emilio Pucci, an Italian aristocrat, founded his namesake house in 1947. It became synonymous with kaleidoscopic prints in the 1960s and 70s, worn by women who moved effortlessly between yachts, villas and cocktail hours. Pucci was expressive, confident, and unmistakable. It was colour with conviction.

Its cultural high point predates TikTok. Marilyn Monroe wore it off-duty. Jackie Kennedy wore it on Capri. Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor wore it as second skin. Crepe caftans, jersey sets and chiffon sheaths in electric hues became signatures of a jet-set glamour that felt both relaxed and, dare it be said, nasty.

By the early 2000s, Pucci had found a new audience. Lindsay Lohan in a mini dress. Jennifer Lopez treating Pucci less as a label and more as a lifestyle commitment. The house slipped in and out of fashion’s focus, as heritage brands often do.

More recently, it re-emerged on Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Sofia Richie Grainge, a brief, colourful interruption to quiet luxury’s ongoing reign.

Which brings us back to Alabama Barker, our unlikely oracle. In 2026, Pucci is not about nostalgia or novelty. It is about self-awareness, theatrical confidence, and a clear-eyed understanding of what might be nasty.

Every January, the Australian Open tennis takes over our TV screens, office watercooler conversations and, most notably, our fashion choices.

The Australian Open’s Grand Slam tournament—which is one of four held across the year including Wimbledon, The French and The US Open—sees the world’s best tennis stars compete down under.

It’s not just die-hard fans that descend on Melbourne Park, with the sporting event attracting both the celeb and style set to its sought-after seats. In 2022, a lucky few spectators even caught a glimpse of our boyfriend, Paul Mescal.

Akin to the Formula One or Spring Racing Carnival, the Australian Open has become an event in of itself, with an array of restaurants and VIP marquees set up on site.

What Is The Dress Code For The Australian Open?

As is with any special event, the Australian Open tennis requires a special outfit, and even comes with a particular dress code: No thongs, ripped jeans, sports shorts or singlets are permitted.

Then, there’s the matter of bag restrictions as dictated by both Rod Laver Arena and the Australian Open—these will dramatically influence your accessory of choice. For spectators, handbags must be able to fit under your seat, or only be as big as an A4 piece of paper.

What To Wear To The Australian Open Tennis

Sport-luxe is a given when deciding what to don as a spectator and bonus points are always given to those who keep within the tennis theme.

There’s also the matter of the weather and climate to factor in when deciding what to wear to the sporting event, particularly given it’s mid-summer.

Think: bright whites, workout sets, tennis skirts and dresses, white sneakers, tank tops and hats. Crisp cottons, lightweight linens and loose-fitting, flowy styles are also on point.

The Annual Leave Hack That Will Change Your 2026 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/health-wellness/annual-leave-hack-2026/ Tue, 06 Jan 2026 03:36:54 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1501729 Work smarter, not harder

The post The Annual Leave Hack That Will Change Your 2026 appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

The first working week of the year has a habit of arriving too soon. For many of us, the Christmas break is the main opportunity to truly switch off, yet it often proves anything but restful.

Between social commitments, travel logistics and family catch-ups, the so-called “holiday” can feel more like a marathon, leaving you back at your desk still craving proper downtime.

As a result, many of us begin the year already feeling depleted, juggling calendars, inboxes and the low-level dread of a year stretching endlessly ahead.

With a little foresight, however, 2026 offers a smarter alternative. By planning your leave strategically and anchoring it to weekends and public holidays, it’s possible to stretch your standard allowance far beyond its limits. In some cases, you can even double your time off without touching unpaid leave.

The secret isn’t taking more leave. It’s taking it more intentionally. When annual leave is booked to bridge public holidays and weekends, short absences expand into long, uninterrupted breaks that allow you to properly switch off.

With careful planning, and ideally a small buffer carried over from last year, those 20 to 30 days of annual leave can translate into close to 60 days away from the office, spread across five generous breaks throughout the year.

At a time when burnout has become almost universal and the boundary between work and life continues to blur, extended rest isn’t indulgent. It’s essential. Ambition thrives on energy, not exhaustion.

So if you’re scanning the calendar and weighing up when to submit those leave requests, consider this your go-to guide for booking time off in 2026.

The post There’s Never Been A Better Time For A ‘Twilight’ Remake And Kristen Stewart Agrees appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
If your formable tween and teen years fell somewhere in the late noughties and 2010s you were lucky enough to live through the cultural phenomenon that was Twilight.

From the release of the first book in 2005 to the film adaptation’s premiere in 2008, through to the final installment of the saga in 2012 and even the ‘Twilight Renaissance’ of 2020, the franchise has become an everlasting cultural touchstone. One that’s begging for a revival.

It’s not just Twihards calling for the films to receive the reboot treatment, with star of the film Kristen Stewart, aka Bella Swan, throwing not only her support behind the idea but her desire to direct the project.

Having just made her directorial debut with The Chronology Of Water, the 35-year-old was asked if she’d consider flexing her new skillset on a Twilight remake.

“I was talking to one of my friends about that movie ’cause it’s on TV a lot over the holidays,” she said. “I was like, ‘How is that aging?,’ because they watch it every year on Christmas with their fam,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

She then went on: ““Imagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support and … I would love to readapt. Yeah, sure. I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it. I’m committed.”

Twilight

Thanks to his recent press tour for Die, My Love with Jennifer Lawrence, we know Robert Pattinson would be on board, too.

During Vanity Fair’s lie detector test with Lawrence, she asked: “If they were gonna direct a new Twilight, would you do it?”

He replied without flinching: “Oh yeah, for sure.”While the Twilight fandom may not be as rabid as its 2010s peak, the Twihard fanbase is as dedicated as ever. The infamous renaissance of 2020 – spurred on but COVID locked downs giving many time to revisit all things nostalgic and the release of all five films on streaming platforms – proved that.

In fact, a Twilight remake could birth a whole new generation of fans, with many too young to feel the full effect of the phenomenon still wholly aware of its cultural significance.

On reddit one going as far as to ask: “What was the twilight craze actually like? I’m too young to remember.”

The query spurred many fond memories of the era, with one user responding: “There was never just “a” midnight showing. At my local theaters there were so many people they would literally have 6+ showings all starting at 12, 12:01, 12:02, etc”

Another adding: “It was insane, I had a girl offer me $200 to take my place in a crowd just to see Robert Pattinson make an appearance at a mall. And I DIDN’T ACCEPT THE OFFER.”

If you thought Team Jeremiah V Team Conrad was fiery last year, you clearly don’t recall the OGs, Team Edward V Team Jacob. If you ask us, with the return of appointment television and teen romance dominating television, there’s no better time to reignite the debate.

Is ‘Stranger Things’ Episode 9 Coming Tomorrow? The Conformity Gate Theory, Explained https://www.marieclaire.com.au/life/entertainment/stranger-things-episode-nine/ Tue, 06 Jan 2026 01:02:49 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1501765 We don't believe in coincidences!

The post Is ‘Stranger Things’ Episode 9 Coming Tomorrow? The Conformity Gate Theory, Explained appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

Stranger Things season five delivered a finale befitting the cultural juggernaut it became— or so it seemed. Across eight episodes, the final chapter unfolded in three volumes, premiering on November 26 and December 25, 2025, before closing with a New Year’s Eve finale on December 31.

With years of unanswered questions to address and the fate of Hawkins, and the world, resting on the defeat of its antagonist, Vecna, the task was undeniably ambitious.

Still, the Duffer Brothers largely rose to the occasion, weaving together long-running storylines and emotional arcs into an ending that felt considered, cohesive and, for many viewers, deeply satisfying.

For others, however, it wasn’t quite enough. A growing fan theory circulating online, dubbed “Conformity Gate,” claims the finale audiences watched wasn’t the true ending at all. Some fans are convinced that another episode is still to come, with speculation suggesting there will be a surprise release tomorrow on January 7.

So, is a surprise episode nine on the way? Here’s what’s fuelling the theory.

@eouji01

Because why else would they include such detail Milkshakegate is REAL, birthdaygate is real, all the gates are REAL 😭 We reacted to volume 2 exactly how they wanted us to 😳 Also what if it’s just Kali and Vecna working together and everything is like a mirage that she’s making us see which is why everything feels off #strangerthings5 #4thwalltheory #fyp #strangerthingstheory #voltagedialgate

Is Stranger Things Episode 9 Coming Out?

Speculation around a secret ninth episode of Stranger Things is fuelled by a growing conviction that season five’s ending is not an ending at all. The fan theory known as Conformity Gate suggests the epilogue is a constructed illusion, allegedly engineered by Vecna, whose defeat may be far less final than the series implies.

Supporters point to a pattern of visual and narrative irregularities woven throughout the final episodes. The Hawkins High graduation scene is a recurring focal point: characters stand in eerily uniform poses that echo Henry Creel’s rigid physicality, while the Wheeler family debut near-identical cropped hairstyles that further strengthen the comparison.

In the epilogue, reality begins to fray. A student is seen holding a blank yellow poster with no clear purpose, and the repeated appearance of the “WHATZIT?” board game has been interpreted by fans as a reference to the children’s nickname for Henry, “Mr Whatsit.” Even the final stack of Dungeons & Dragons books has been scrutinised, with fans claiming the spines spell out “X A LIE,” a pointed reference to Dimension X.

Narratively, the season actively trains viewers to distrust what they’re seeing. Holly’s journey through Vecna’s memories hinges on identifying small errors, such as a merry-go-round rendered in the wrong colour. Similar slips appear elsewhere: a tower pointer changes from grey in Volume One to red in Volume Two. Even Will’s coming-out speech references milkshakes at Melvald’s, despite the shop not selling them, a detail Vecna might remember from his time as Henry Creel when Melvald’s used to be a diner.

“I don’t believe in coincidences… not anymore.”
The line is delivered by Lucas in the first volume of season five as he begins to piece together Vecna’s plan to target Holly. For many fans, it landed as more than just character dialogue. One popular theory thread suggests the moment operates as a subtle fourth-wall break, with Lucas effectively signalling that the details matter, and that what’s unfolding may not be as straightforward as it seems.

Layered with self-aware dialogue that openly questions neat, satisfying endings — particularly Max’s frustration with Mike’s too-perfect D&D conclusions — fans believe the show is quietly commenting on its own finale.

stranger things season 5 episode 9

When Is Stranger Things Episode 9 Allegedly Coming Out?

According to Conformity Gate theorists, a surprise final episode of Stranger Things could arrive as soon as tomorrow, January 7, 2026. The date gained traction after Netflix shared a cryptic post reading, “Your future is on the way,” accompanied by a January 7 timestamp, prompting fans to question whether the message was more than a generic tease.

While the post is officially positioned as a promotional spot for Netflix’s 2026 slate, viewers were quick to note how heavily it leans into Stranger Things imagery. Season five posters line the walls, the visuals dip unmistakably into Upside Down territory, and the overall tone mirrors the show’s mythology more than any other title. That could point to the upcoming spin-off, but believers argue it may also signal that the “real” finale is still to come, or at least about to be revealed.

The timing, too, feels pointed. January 7 coincides with Orthodox Christmas, aligning neatly with season five’s holiday-heavy release strategy, which saw episodes land on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. For those invested in the theory, it’s just enough symmetry to keep hope alive.

stranger things season 5 episode 9

Has Netflix Or The Duffer Brothers Commented On Conformity Gate?

Neither Netflix nor the Duffer Brothers have acknowledged the Conformity Gate theory, and there’s no indication it played any role in the ending they ultimately delivered.

January 7, then, will determine whether the theory holds any weight — or whether it remains an elaborate exercise in fan speculation.

The post ‘Emily In Paris’ Season 6 Is Happening, But Fans Think One Character Won’t Return appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
If you can’t get enough of gaudy outfits, idyllic Parisian backdrops and hot chefs, you’re in luck – Emily In Paris is officially returning for season six. Although, a huge question mark hangs over the fate of the latter, Gabriel, next season.

Netflix announced the confirmation of a new season via Instagram. In the clip Lily Collins, who plays the titular character of Emily, walks off the balcony of a Parisian apartment, before a Tik-Tok worthy transition shows her on the screen of a phone. Positioned in front of a giant croissant, she seemingly blows out a number six candle.

“Home sweet home EMILY IN PARIS is returning for Season 6!” the caption reads.

While the post confirms Emily is staying put in Paris (for now), no further details on the cast or potential plot lines have been revealed.

Some fans have expressed concerns and theories that the show’s original love interest, Gabriel, won’t be returning for season six. In season five, Emily and the hot chef part ways as he leaves to work on a yacht as a private chef.

“I’m excited for the future, wherever it brings me,” Gabriel told Emily in the season finale. “And I think you should be too.”

The storyline comes after Lucas Bravo, who portrays the character, expressed his frustrations over Gabriel’s storyline, at one point calling him mashed avocado.

“In Season 1, there was a lot of me in him,” Bravo told IndieWire, “But as they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimising and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him.”

Emily In Paris Season 5 Recap

So while the door remains open between Gabriel and Emily – the chef having invited her abroad to Greece via postcard – it may be up to Bravo on whether he returns.

Agence Grâteau’s Roman expansion starts on shaky ground, including a disastrous meeting with Fendi and an exceedingly difficult client in Antonia Muratori. Unfortunately for the agency, it’s a downhill slide from there, ultimately leading the team back to their Parisian base and Emily to end her romance with Marcello. Emily’s friendship with Mindy also becomes strained when she learns her bestie has been sleeping with her ex, Alfie in secret.

By the finale, it’s Mindy who finds herself in the season’s most scandalous love triangle. The singer has rekindled her romance with Nico after he left the family business to prove his love for her before proposing, all the while Alfie confesses his growing feelings for her.

The Watch Styles Set To Be Wrapped Around Every Editor’s Wrist In 2026 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/shopping/best-watch-trends/ Mon, 05 Jan 2026 22:54:56 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1501153 Could it be time to get a new watch?

The post The Watch Styles Set To Be Wrapped Around Every Editor’s Wrist In 2026 appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Watches may have initially been worn for practical purposes, allowing the wearer to easily tell time, but they’ve since evolved into fashion accessories. These days, they’re more often strapped around wrists to complement or contrast with an outfit than to serve as literal timekeepers.

These days, you can find watches for women in every style, though a few are emerging as key trends for 2026. They’re vintage-inspired, borrowed from the boys, jewellery cues, statement makers and, the always popular, classic investments.

Below, we’re explaining why each watch trend is popular now, alongside the models we feel exemplify it best. From vintage-inspired, to jewellery-look and statement makers, these are the styles we’re predicting will be wrapped around every fashion editor’s wrist in 2026.

Read: 10 Watches You’ll Want To Keep On Your Wrist Forever

Vintage-Inspired

There are several reasons why vintage and vintage-inspired watches are trending today: They feature timeless designs, carry a sense of nostalgia, and, in the case of second-hand pieces, are eco-conscious — less damaging to our planet. They’re a clear shift away from the oversized, ‘bigger is better’ styles of recent years, in line with the quiet luxury aesthetic.

Borrowed From The Boys

This year, the boundary between men’s and women’s watches is thinner than ever, with genderless timepieces more and more common. For women, wearing men’s watches can also play into the ‘power dressing’ ethos, strategic use of fashion to communicate authority and confidence. Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston both regularly wear men’s-style watches.

Brands are increasingly designing watches with bands as important, or sometimes even more important, than the dial. The Cartier Baignoire and the Bvlgari Serpenti were designed to be worn as cuffs or bangles. Watches with covers over the dial are also becoming popular, and understandably so. In an era of constant digital notifications, they’re discreet.

Statement Makers

A ‘statement watch’ doesn’t necessarily mean it’s big, it can also simply have visual impact, catching the eye through artistry. They might feature unconventional silhouettes, vivid dial colours or bands or untraditional materials. In some cases, they’re wearable art, reflecting the wearer’s unique narrative.

Classic Investments

Investment watches are timepieces you’re hoping to have for years. Because of that, you won’t want their style to be too trendy, so it will date; instead, opt for timeless designs, no pun intended. Look for real leather, stainless steel or yellow gold. You also want the watch to go as well with a white tee as it would with a suit.

How do I measure my wrist for a watch band?

Measuring your wrist is a simple but essential step to ensuring a watch looks balanced on your wrist and that it’s comfortable to wear. Your wrist circumference helps determine both the strap length and the case diameter. Choose your measuring tool – flexible measuring tape or a piece of string you wrap around your wrist and then lay flat on a ruler – and then find the right spot to measure. Keep your palm open and hand relaxed and measure just below the wrist bone where a watch would naturally sit.

Can women wear men’s watches?

Definitely! In the fact the ‘borrowed from the boys’ watch style is currently trending. Men’s watches can be chunkier than women’s jewellery, which might be the wearer’s preference. They might also be investment pieces, holding their value so you can re-sell them for a similar amount later. And they’re often endorsed by A-listers, like Charlize Theron, Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston.

What are the best everyday luxury watches for women?

The ‘best’ everyday luxury watch is defined by versatility – it should work for a morning gym session, high-stakes boardroom meeting and a dinner date. This typically means it’s made from durable stainless steel or two-tone case that resists the wear of a busy lifestyle. Beyond the physical piece, it should also feature a clean, timeless design, so it works no matter what you’re wearing or doing.

It’s no secret that the start of a new year means a whole lot of new resolutions. But if we’re being honest, some are a lot harder to maintain than others.

Dry January? Let’s just say that hasn’t worked out. No takeaway? So far so good. Committing to working out and going to Pilates more often? Now, that’s one resolution that’s already feeling very doable.

The Best Pilates Pieces, According To marie claire:

Whether you’re new to the workout or a frequent flyer at your local Pilates studio, there’s no denying that we all need a little extra nudge of motivation on certain days. Enter: the stylish pieces that make showing up feel worth it. Because let’s be honest — was it actually a cute outfit if no one saw it?

I’m personally taking inspiration from the LA crowd after seeing what they’re wearing to work out. Kendall Jenner has been wearing a lot of chic Adanola sets lately, while Alix Earle was spotted wearing Crop Shop Boutique (or CSB) throughout her stint on Dancing With The Stars in the US.

Whether you’re committing to Pilates for the first time or sticking with a routine you already love in 2026, these are the best (and most stylish) Pilates outfits to inspire your next move.

The Best Sports Bras And Tops For Pilates

Pilates tends to be low-impact, but that certainly doesn’t mean low-sweat, so keep that in mind when looking for a new outfit. For tops, a sports bra or slightly fitted shirt will usually work best. This will allow you to move freely, while also giving the instructor an unobstructed view of your body to ensure you’re performing each exercise correctly.

The Best Bottoms For Pilates

When it comes to bottoms, leggings or shorts both work perfectly. Just keep in mind that in a reformer class, your legs may be in the air (feet in straps is the best part of class, let’s be honest), so fitted shorts are key. I’m also personally thrilled that flared pants are having a moment, but if you prefer something more streamlined, a classic pair of leggings is fine—take your pick!

The Best Socks For Pilates

Whether you’re heading to a Pilates class or simply prefer not to go barefoot, a good pair of grippy socks is a must-have. Brands like Alo Yoga, Move Active, and Lululemon offer socks designed with performance grips on the soles, ensuring you stay steady and supported throughout your workout—all while keeping your feet comfy and cool.

For a post-Pilates matcha or while heading to class, layer up with a cozy zip-up or cardigan. Go for a relaxed, chic vibe with an oversized sweater or boxy quarter zip, or embrace a softer, more feminine look with a ballet wrap or a ribbed-knit cardigan. The perfect mix of comfort and style for any workout routine.

The Best Accessories For Pilates

If we’re being honest, no Pilates outfit is complete without the right accessories. Either way, it’s an easy way to level up both your outfit and your motivation.

New year resolutions don’t have to mean punishing routines or empty promises. These five Australian brands are making it easier to prioritise your health in 2026, without the wellness-washing. From science-backed collagen formulas that support your body through hormonal changes, to sustainable skincare that multi-tasks as self-care, these are the products that blend real results with genuine ritual. Whether you’re after a digestive reset, nervous system support, or just want to glow from the inside out, consider this your carefully curated shortcut to feeling good.

Chief Collagen Protein Powder

woman laughing in kitchen making wellness smoothie

If there’s a buzzword in health right now, it would have to be protein. And for good reason. Protein plays a vital role in supporting overall health at every life stage, helping to maintain muscle mass, support metabolism and keep you feeling fuller for longer. Emerging research suggests that getting enough high-quality protein becomes especially important in perimenopause and menopause – during which women need twice as much protein. This is

because declining oestrogen can be linked with loss of muscle and bone strength, changes in body composition and more pronounced swings in energy and appetite.

Choosing a ‘clean’ collagen-rich protein powder, such as Chief Collagen Protein Powder, is one simple way to top up daily protein intake while also providing key amino acids that help to support skin, joints and connective tissues from the inside out. And there’s no better time to try it. Chief Nutrition is offering Marie Claire readers a further 20 per cent off the first month of a new subscription when they use the code MC20 at checkout*.

My Way Up Collagen Restore

my way up collagen restore wellness

As evidenced by numerous studies¹, collagen and elastin fibres naturally decline with age. But all hope for supporting your body’s natural collagen levels is not lost. Adding an easy-to-take collagen peptide supplement to your routine can help maintain collagen production.

My Way Up’s Collagen Restore has been formulated from Australian-sourced, evidence-based pure collagen peptides, along with organic bamboo silica and zinc glycinate to support connective tissue structure. Each scoop also contains clinically studied prebiotic Bimuno GOS, which helps to support gut health and microbiome balance. It’s a simple way to give your body a daily nutritional boost. The formula is tasteless, odourless and heat-stable, allowing you to mix it into your morning tea or coffee as part of your daily wellness routine.

Retreat Yourself

retreat yourself summer wellness box

Not that you need permission to pamper, but an excuse is always welcome. And what better excuse than gifting yourself the Summer Pamper and Relax Retreat Box. It’s not just products in a box; it’s all the tools and inspiration you need for a spa-like staycation in the comfort of your home (or holiday house) — and the perfect way to reset and emerge as a more relaxed version of yourself for the new year.

Retreat Yourself has mastered the art of turning self-care into a ritual. Each seasonal box is thoughtfully curated to recreate the feeling of a luxury wellness retreat, without the hefty price tag. Inside, you’ll find over $300 worth of full-sized products from Australian and New Zealand-owned brands, from nourishing bath oils and body scrubs to uplifting mists, candles and essential oils, all designed to help you slow down and truly switch off.

What sets this box apart is the guided experience. Alongside the products, there’s a beautifully designed Retreat Guide, ritual instructions, curated playlists and access to the Retreat Yourself Wellness Hub, transforming unboxing into a meaningful pause from everyday life. Shop now at retreatyourself.com and use code MARIECLAIRE20 for 20 per cent off.

Hemp Skin Australia

hemp skin wellness serum

New year, new skincare ritual but make it sustainable this time. Enter Hemp Skin Australia, the local brand proving that clean beauty doesn’t have to choose between performance and planet.

The hero product? Their Nightly Oil. It’s formulated with cold-infused Australian Certified Organic hemp seed oil, blue lotus to calm those late-night doom-scroll sessions showing on your face, and sea buckthorn oil plus olive squalane that deliver on the hydration promises. Think of it as your skin’s emotional support oil – gentle enough for sensitive, reactive complexions but powerful enough that you’ll see results.

Here’s where it gets good: One drop. Warm it between your palms, take a moment to breathe, then press it into your face and neck. It’s skincare that doubles as self-care. With Hemp Skin, while you’re glowing up, you’re also giving back to the planet because every order supports verified carbon-removal projects. Ready to start your new ritual? Hemp Skin is offering free shipping on first orders with code NEWYEAR26.

Serene Body Health

serene body health wellness fragrance

Serene Body Health has quietly built a cult following for doing fragrance differently. Their 100 per cent natural scents aren’t just about smelling good, they’re designed to support wellbeing, adapting to your unique body chemistry to create something genuinely personal. The brand offers three formats: oil-based blends, grain alcohol infusions, and their standout magnesium-based formulations. It’s this last category that’s worth paying attention to.

The product everyone’s talking about? Their scented magnesium body oils combine pure Tibetan plateau magnesium with hydrating plant oils and essential oils across three fragrances. The result? everything your body needs after a long day (or week, or month).

What sets Serene Body Health apart is their neuroscience-backed approach to self-care. They even have an in-house neuroscience student offering regular insights to customers, bridging the gap between wellness trends and actual science. Sign up to their mailing list and use code SERENE20 FOR 20% off your first order.

Brought to you in collaboration with Chief Collagen Protein Powder, My Way Up Collagen Restore, Retreat Yourself, Hemp Skin Australia and Serene Body Health.

The Inside-Out Beauty Boom: How Ingestibles Became The Trend Of The Decade https://www.marieclaire.com.au/shopping/ingestible-beauty-trend/ Mon, 05 Jan 2026 05:01:19 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1499310 Inside-out

The post The Inside-Out Beauty Boom: How Ingestibles Became The Trend Of The Decade appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Ten years ago, beauty was defined by what we applied to our skin. Today, the focus has broadened to what we consume. Ingestible beauty – once the domain of nephropathy and niche wellness circles – has become a multi-billion-dollar category transforming how we think about aesthetics, health, and beauty rituals. And Australia has emerged as one of its global power centres.

Yes, our bathroom cabinets are still lined with serums and sheet masks – and dermatologists remain our most trusted skincare authorities. But increasingly, the pursuit of beauty is happening from the inside out.

Consumers are pushing ingestible beauty into the cultural zeitgeist, making it one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty categories – and giving new weight to the idea that you are what you eat.

Why Ingestibles Are Booming

The category refers broadly to powders, liquids, capsule, and tablets containing ingredients such as collagen, vitamins, and minerals – products positioned to support common concerns when taken consistently, and designed to align with a more holistic, long-term approach to health.

Several cultural forces are fuelling the surge: growing interest in gut health, a stronger link between mental and physical wellbeing, and the expanding influence of celebrity-led wellness culture – from the earliest days of Goop to more recent additions like Kourtney Kardashian’s Lemme supplements and Elle McPherson’s WelleCo.

Globally, estimates place the ingestible beauty market between $5.1 billion and $13 billion, with projections reaching up to $14.4 billion by 2027. By comparison, Australia’s topical skincare market is expected to reach $5.8 billion by the same year, which highlights how significant the ingestible space has become.

Inside Australia’s Growing Obsession With Beauty Supplements

While the movement is global, the Asia-Pacific region is experiencing the fastest acceleration. According to Mordor Intelligence, shifting consumer priorities and the rapid adoption of health-focused routines are driving exponential demand – a trend that has created powerful momentum for Australian ingestible beauty brands, including Vida Glow.

Launched in 2014 by founder Anna Lahey and her husband, Kieran, Vida Glow was born from Anna’s discovery of collagen products in Japan during her early twenties. After struggling to find similar options in Australia, she set out to create an ingestible routine that felt simple, accessible, and compatible with everyday life.

“When I launched Vida Glow, the idea of beauty from within was still very new – especially in Western markets,” Anna tells marie claire. “I saw a gap between the way people were approaching wellness and the way they were addressing their skin concerns. Conversations were growing around nutrition, gut health and self-care – all signs that the beauty consumer was evolving.”

The Vida Glow Effect: How One Brand Changed the Category

More than a decade on, Vida Glow is now one of the world’s leading ingestible beauty brands. Its marine collagen range has become a global bestseller, with a product purchased every four seconds. Australia’s particular enthusiasm for the category – supported by strong local brands and a culture of wellness-led routines – has accelerated its rise.

For many consumers, Vida Glow played a role in shifting ingestible beauty from a specialised supplement regime to an approachable beauty ritual. By offering straightforward formats like powders and sachets designed to fit seamlessly into daily habits, the brand helped normalise a category that once sat outside mainstream routines.

“Daily rituals give consumers a moment of ownership over their wellbeing,” Anna shares. “It’s not just about looking good, it’s about feeling empowered through small, consistent actions. These routines become anchors in a busy life. When you integrate ingestible beauty into that ritual, it becomes a long-term investment in yourself.”

Another key driver of the category’s growth is consumer demand for high-quality, well-researched products.

“Women are more educated than ever about their skin and there’s been a mindset shift to being proactive rather than reactive,” says Anna. “They’re thinking about maintaining their skin’s longevity. As people become more informed, they’re now holding brands to a higher standard.”

“The feedback that moves me most is when women say Vida Glow has given them confidence. I’ve heard from women who’ve struggled with post-partum hair loss, people with stubborn acne, or customers preparing for their wedding… That emotional impact is what drives me.”

As beauty continues to converge with wellness, ingestibles now sit at the centre of a cultural shift: a move toward ritual, long-term consistency, and routines designed to support both aesthetic and holistic outcomes. For a category that began quietly on the fringes, ingestible beauty has become one of the defining movements of the decade – and Australia is helping lead the way

How To Shop Injestible Beauty Without The Hype

 • Start with your GP or specialist. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication, or managing a health condition, always check in with a doctor or qualified health professional before adding supplements.
 • Look for transparent labelling. Seek out brands that clearly list their ingredients, source (for example, marine vs bovine collagen), and recommended daily intake.
 • Focus on quality, not volume. More isn’t always better. Pay attention to dosage, sourcing and any quality or safety testing rather than simple chasing the longest ingredient list.
 • Treat it as one part of a routine. Ingestibles are designed to complement – not replace – things like diet, SPF, good sleep, stress management, and evidence-based skincare.
 • Be realistic about time frames. Most products are positioned around consistent, longer-term use. Think slow, ritualised habit rather than overnight transformation.

marie claire’s Vida Glow Picks:

We explored the Vida Glow range, created for real people who want simple, easy-to-use beauty essentials that fit into busy, everyday routines. Since 2014, Vida Glow has focused on ingestible beauty solutions, including its popular Natural Marine Collagen range, offering products designed to support a consistent beauty routine that works as hard as you do.

Always remember to consult your healthcare professional to determine the best solution for your individual needs, especially if you have underlying health concerns. And always read the label and follow the directions for use.

The post Every Major Astrological Event You Need To Know About In 2026 appeared first on marie claire.

]]>

If 2025 was about learning the lesson, 2026 is about applying it. The year arrives with a clear directive: reclaim your power and begin again, but this time with intention.

While many of the year’s planetary movements echo themes first introduced in 2025, the difference now is perspective. We’re no longer experimenting blindly. Experience becomes a tool, allowing us to make sharper decisions and move forward with confidence rather than impulse.

Astrologically, the year is dense with activity. Three Mercury retrogrades will interrupt the usual flow of travel, communication and technology, creating moments where progress slows and reflection becomes necessary.

Rather than pushing ahead, these periods reward pause, revision and emotional clarity. Planning major trips or launches outside the retrograde windows may help minimise friction.

Even as the pace slows during retrogrades, the year is punctuated by four eclipses, each marking a moment of closure or initiation: an annular solar eclipse, a total lunar eclipse, a total solar eclipse and a partial lunar eclipse.

Much of 2026’s deeper transformation unfolds quietly through the outer planets. Neptune and Saturn both enter Aries early in the year, blending idealism with accountability.

Uranus re-enters Gemini on April 25, reshaping how we communicate, while Jupiter’s move into Leo on June 30 brings a surge of creative confidence. For those born between 1996 and 1999, this also marks the beginning of a Saturn Return, signalling a defining period of growth.

Every Astrological Event Coming In 2026

Retrogrades

Three Mercury retrogrades shape 2026, occurring from February 26 to March 20 in Pisces, June 29 to July 23 in Cancer, and October 24 to November 13 in Scorpio. With all three taking place in water signs, the emphasis is on emotional depth and reflection.

Venus retrograde in Scorpio and Libra from October 3 to November 13 reopens conversations around love, money and self-worth. Old relationships or unresolved dynamics may resurface, asking to be met with honesty rather than nostalgia.

Additional retrogrades from Saturn and Pluto further spotlight relationships, responsibility and long-term transformation.

Eclipses

Four eclipses shape the year: an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius on February 17, a total lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 3, a total solar eclipse in Leo on August 12, and a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces on August 28.

The February, March and August eclipse seasons are especially catalytic, triggering endings, revelations and decisive new chapters across all zodiac signs.

Supermoons

Three of the year’s full moons will qualify as supermoons: the Wolf Moon on January 3, the Beaver Moon on November 24 and the Cold Moon on December 24.

Full Moons

2026 is shaping up to be an especially rich year for moon gazers, delivering 13 full moons instead of the customary 12.

From the dramatic Wolf Supermoon that lit up the sky on January 3 to the largest supermoon in nearly two decades closing out the year, the lunar calendar is anything but ordinary. A rare Blue Moon in May adds to the intrigue, making 2026 a standout year for lunar activity.

 • January 3: Full Moon in Cancer
 • February 1: Full Moon in Leo
 • March 3: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
 • April 1: Full Moon in Libra
 • May 1: Full Moon in Scorpio
 • May 31: Full Blue Moon in Sagittarius
 • June 29: Full Moon in Capricorn
 • July 29: Full Moon in Aquarius
 • August 28: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
 • September 26: Full Moon in Aries
 • October 26: Full Moon in Taurus
 • November 24: Full Moon in Gemini

Australia was treated to multiple aurora displays throughout 2025, as the visibility of the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) aligned with the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle. That cycle is currently in a phase of heightened activity, which peaked around late 2024 to 2025 and drove the surge in sightings.

In 2026, Aurora Australis displays across Australia are expected to remain strong, though they will gradually become less frequent as solar activity begins its slow decline from this peak. Tasmania continues to offer the most reliable viewing conditions, while significant geomagnetic storms may occasionally extend visibility into other southern states.

Planetary Alignment

February 28 ushers in a striking six-planet alignment, often referred to as a “planet parade,” across the evening sky. Shortly after sunset, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune will trace an arc overhead, though some — namely Venus, Jupiter and Saturn — will be far easier to spot than others, with sightings of Uranus and Neptune requiring a telescope or binoculars.
