Nicole Kidman has made a rare comment about her divorce, offering a small but telling glimpse into how she is navigating life after her split from Keith Urban.
In a conversation with Ariana Grande for Interview, the Big Little Lies star admitted she was “hanging in there.” It was one of the few moments she has publicly acknowledged what has otherwise been a deeply private transition.
The feature, published on November 24, also revealed that Nicole, who shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14 with Keith, spent the first months of the separation surrounded by a famous circle of women who held her up at a time she needed it most.
While filming Practical Magic 2 earlier this year, she found an unexpected sense of refuge in the company of Sandra Bullock, Joey King and Maisie Williams. As she explained, “I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved. It was just very, very safe.”
The conversation shifted to lighter territory when Nicole confessed to Ariana that she is a devoted Wicked fan.
“When I saw Wicked with my girls, we actually booked out the whole row here in Nashville. People were cheering, and it was just really, really fun,” she said, recalling the joy of experiencing the film alongside her daughters.
Nicole also admitted to Grande that she would “never do a musical,” but if she ever found herself on Broadway, Macbeth, Hedda Gabler and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? would be her top picks.
Since E! News confirmed on September 30 that Nicole and Keith had been living apart “since the beginning of summer,” she has understandably stepped back from the spotlight.
One of her few public outings came during Paris Fashion Week on October 7, when she attended a Chanel show alongside Sunday and Faith.

Shortly afterward, she helped open Vogue World in Los Angeles as a newly minted Chanel ambassador, taking to the runway at Paramount Studios in a custom Matthieu Blazy creation.
Behind the scenes, however, the end of the couple’s 19 year marriage had already taken shape. Sources told E! News that Nicole made an effort to save the relationship before ultimately filing for divorce.
The 58 year old has since retained full custody of their teenage daughters, who remained in the family’s Nashville home, while Keith relocated to a separate residence nearby. In her September 30 filing, both parties agreed to a custody arrangement that names Nicole as the “primary residential parent” for 306 days a year, with Keith allocated 59.
