It’s getting messy between Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini, if the actor’s latest Instagram Stories are anything to go by. Overnight, he posted two pointed updates that appeared to shut down recent reports the pair had quietly reconciled.
“Don’t believe the media,” he wrote in the first cryptic post, directly referencing the speculation. “I’m blocked, I did nothing wrong. Sorry ❤️ I tried.”
Adding fuel to the breakup discourse, the two no longer follow each other on Instagram, suggesting one of them has indeed hit the block button.
In a second Story, Stokes addressed fans who had been rooting for the couple.
“I’m sorry for those who believed in us. It is what it is. Onwards and upwards.”

Ballerini has not responded publicly. Earlier this week, however, Stokes jumped into the comments on one of her TikTok videos to call out fans who were speculating about his dynamic with his Outer Banks co-star and ex-girlfriend, Madelyn Cline.
“These comments are fucking weird. Grow up,” he wrote.
The singer and the actor first split in September, with Ballerini’s rep confirming the news on September 14. Despite the breakup, the two sparked reconciliation rumours weeks later when they were photographed holding hands in Croatia, where Stokes is filming Outer Banks.
By early November, multiple outlets were reporting that the pair had quietly gotten back together.
“Kelsea and Chase are giving their relationship another try. There’s still a lot of love there, so they fell back into it very naturally,” a source told Us Weekly on November 10. Another insider added that they “never really stopped being in touch after their brief split” and were “back together.”
Ballerini and Stokes dated for around three years before their September split. At the time, sources told People the pair had genuinely tried to reconcile their issues but ultimately couldn’t:
“They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried to do everything they could to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t. It happens.”
While insiders maintained there was still “a lot of love” between them, both agreed they needed space.
Now, Stokes’ latest posts signal that whatever remained between them has finally run its course.
