Wondering How Much Money The Beckhams Actually Have?

In her highly anticipated Netflix documentary, Victoria Beckham doesn’t shy away from taboo topics. From the abhorrent tabloid headlines early in her marriage to opening up about her eating disorder, there was no topic off the table for the former Spice Girl, including money woes.

In fact, a large portion of the three-part doco was focused on the financial struggles her eponymous fashion label has faced.

“I almost lost everything,” Victoria recalls in the limited series, “That was a dark, dark time. I used to cry before I went to work every day.” 

“We were tens of millions in the red,” she recounts as footage from a 2016 morning television show plays, discussing headlines around their financial struggles.

Newspaper headlines from the time which were depicted in the documentary revealed the fashion brand had to be “bailed out” by husband, David, after spending almost £38million (the equivalent of $77 million AUD).

“We both sat there and we looked at what I’d invested and I think part of that conversation broke my heart because Victoria is a proud woman,” David revealed.

“It was hard for both of us … I didn’t have the money. Eventually, I was like, ‘This cannot continue,’” he added.

It led to the brand bringing in David Belhassen as an investor, who admitted he’d “never seen something as hard as that to fix” following constant “losses” and books that showed they’d “never made a profit”. 

But, it was Belhassen’s wife, a fan of the brand, who convinced him to take on the brand and help salvage its financial situation.
