KJ Apa is cropping up all over our screens lately and it’s not just as part of the press tour for his recent romance flick, The Map That Leads To You. No, it’s for another, very peculiar reason: the former Riverdale star appears to have an alter ego by the name of Mr. Fantasy.
The wig-wearing Brit has sent the internet into a tizzy trying to decipher whether Mr. Fantasy is indeed KJ Apa or his doppelganger. And, to a further point, exactly what is the meaning of this mayhem?
Let’s unpack shall we…
Is Mr. Fantasy KJ Apa?
While KJ is yet to confirm himself, netizens have deduced that Mr. Fantasy is almost definitely the New Zealand-born actor.
The biggest giveaway are KJ’s tattoo’s which perfectly match those seen on Mr. Fantasy, including the pattern on his left shoulder.

What About KJ Apa’s Teeth?
While internet sleuths have concluded KJ and Mr Fantasy are one and the same (not the most difficult of deductions, let’s be honest) the thing that’s left everyone scratching their heads most is Mr Fantasy and KJ’s teeth.
Fantasy’s bucky, gap-toothed smile doesn’t line up with KJ’s, the heartthrob he is has with a megawatt smile with perfect teeth.
We’re putting it down to a great set of fakes which KJ would have access to working in the film and TV industry.
Why Does KJ Apa Have An Alter Ego?
At first, the motive for KJ’s alter ego seemed to be nothing more than delightful tom foolery but it now seems to be part of the actor’s musical endeavours.
Mr. Fantasy has now released his debut self-titled song, complete with a music video on TiKTok. “The wait is over. Here is Part 1 of my very first video for my debut single “Mr. Fantasy” I love you all. The adventure has only just begun😜😜🤪🤪🤪 many more to come!!! I love you always – MR. FANTASY,” the post reads.
As KJ confirms, the new track is available on all music platforms including Spotify, and on first listen it’s an absolute bop.
Further hinting a fully fledged music career is in the works, his artist profile on the platform reads: “My music is my beating reason. My raw heart, manifested into colorful sonic waves. My music is my smile, my long wet tongue, my thrusting hips. My vibrations cause the cracks in my teeth, the tears in my eyes, the blisters in my feet.”
It goes on: “Welcome to my world, another dimension, where dreams are gripped like cold Guinness. Where shapes are made from love kisses. Leave your troubles behind and give your fears to me. I can be your Mr. Fantasy. Now… where were we?”
Looks like there’s more quirky chaos to come from Mr Fantasy (ahem, KJ Apa).
