The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are almost upon us, and voting is still open for you to have your say. The Awards are set to take place on September 8 (in Australia), with voting to close in only a few days.
This year’s ceremony is set to attract some major names, if the nominees list is anything to go by. Lady Gaga has earned the most MTV VMA nominations in 2025, with a total of 12 noms across 12 categories. Bruno Mars has the next most nominations (11), followed by Kendrick Lamar (10), ROSÉ (8) Sabrina Carpenter (8), Ariana Grande (7), The Weeknd (7), Billie Eilish (6), and Charlie XCX (5). Meanwhile Doechii, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Tate McRae and Jelly Roll all received four nominations each.
Meanwhile, the MTV VMA performers have also been announced, and will treat viewers to performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter and Mariah Carey. Tate McRae will also hit the stage, as will Alex Warrren and the fictional performers behind HUNTR/X—the band at the centre of Netflix’s runaway hit series, K-Pop Demon Hunters.

When Are The 2025 MTV VMAs?
The 2025 MTV VMAs will take place on Sunday, September 7 in the United States, from 8pm ET. This means Australians can expect all the news of the show to drop on Monday, September 8, from 10am. Meanwhile, the MTV VMAs red carpet coverage will start from around 8:30am in Australia.
Can Australians Vote In The MTV VMAs?
It may surprise you to know that voting for the MTV VMAs is not restricted to US audiences only. In fact, it’s open internationally. So, yes. Australians can vote in the MTV VMAs. Just get in quick, because voting closes in Australia at 8am on September 6 (equivalent to 6pm ET on September 5 in the US).

When it comes to VMA voting, you can vote up to 10 times each day (if you’re dedicated) until the period closes. You’re also granted 10 votes per category, meaning you can give them all to one artist, or sprinkle them around, per your preference.
