The New Year may be behind us, but the urge to reset remains strong. With fresh collections and cultural moments beginning to roll in, January always carries a quiet sense of anticipation.

In the weeks ahead, Melbourne will play host to the Australian Open, bringing with it a wave of tennis-inspired fashion, while global Houses and heritage brands begin to set the tone for the year.

Luxury labels are revisiting their archives, contemporary names are pushing creative boundaries, and the result is a landscape that feels equal parts nostalgic and forward-facing.

From Chanel Beauty’s moody Rouge Noir revival to Fendi’s playful reimagining of the Peekaboo and Van Cleef & Arpels’ cultural collaborations, the month is delivering heritage, innovation and artistry in equal measure.

From retail to the runway, these are the must-know launches shaping January.

Chanel Revives Rouge Noir With A New Makeup Collection

Fashion News January

Chanel Beauty revisits one of its most iconic shades with the launch of the Rouge Noir Makeup Collection, created by Ammy Drammeh of Chanel’s Comètes Collective. Rich, sultry and unmistakably Chanel, the collection moves beyond the nail polish that made the shade famous, spanning eyes, lips and cheeks in a palette of deep garnet, magenta, purplish pink and rich brown tones.

Rouge Noir’s origin story is pure fashion folklore. The shade was conceived overnight on the eve of the Autumn-Winter 1994/95 runway show by Dominique Moncourtois, Heidi Morawetz and Karl Lagerfeld, inspired by the dark lining of the house’s iconic 2.55 handbag. What emerged was a near-black red that felt radical at the time, redefining what “classic” beauty could look like.

Launched as a nail colour in 1995, Rouge Noir was initially dismissed as a passing trend. Three decades on, its return proves otherwise. The Rouge Noir Makeup Collection is available now at Chanel.com.

A Peek Inside Fendi’s Most Playful Bag Yet

FENDI is giving its iconic Peekaboo bag a playful new twist for Spring/Summer 2026, and it all began on the Milan runway in September, where models carried their bags slightly ajar, letting colour, sparkle and surprise spill out.

Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi and first launched in 2008, the Peekaboo has always been about hidden beauty, a wink wrapped in leather. This season, the secret is proudly on display. Clean, minimal exteriors open to reveal jewel-like interiors adorned with paillettes, beads, studs and crystals, all handcrafted by FENDI’s artisans.

From shimmering sequins and floral mosaics to crystal motifs and a pink mink version requiring over 200 hours of work, each bag feels like a small reveal party. The collection is available for pre-order now and lands in boutiques on February 5.

Van Cleef & Arpels Brings Dance Reflections To Sydney Festival

Van Cleef & Arpels’ Dance Reflections program is deepening its commitment to Australia this January with a new collaboration at the Sydney Festival. Following its support of DanceX with The Australian Ballet in 2025, the initiative will present two acclaimed international works: Alessandro Sciarroni’s Save the Last Dance for Me and Eun-Me Ahn’s Post-Orientalist Express.

Sciarroni’s piece revives the near-forgotten Italian folk dance polka chinata, while Ahn delivers a vibrant, high-energy exploration of contemporary Asian identity. Performed across venues including Sydney Town Hall and the Roslyn Packer Theatre, the works bring global choreographic voices to Australian stages as part of the Festival’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Can Alabama Barker Spark A Pucci Renaissance? https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/alabama-barker-nasty-pucci-outfit/ Tue, 06 Jan 2026 06:44:27 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1501816 Fashion’s most flamboyant house

Do you know what’s nasty? Feathered Saint Laurent heels with a Pucci outfit. At least, that is the verdict delivered by 20-year-old Alabama Barker, daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and stepdaughter of Kourtney Kardashian.

Pop-punk by lineage and Kardashian by marriage, she occupies a cultural position where luxury is less aspiration than inheritance.

Over Christmas, Barker uploaded a nine-minute haul video that unfolded as a study in insouciant excess. A Birkin from Kourtney, reportedly worth more than $30,000. A Balenciaga City bag from Kendall Jenner, just under $5,000. Fuzzy Hermès slides from matriarch Kris. Enough Chrome Hearts and Cartier to to rival a boutique counter.

Internet accountants quickly crunched the numbers for the entire haul and arrived somewhere north of $300,000.

@alabamabarker

Yes I’m out of breath always, yes my ear is split lol anyways enjoy I love you guys down ! 💗🙈 #fyp #haul #xmas

♬ original sound – Alabama barker

The gifts were classified as either “nasty” or “tea”, which is the kind of compressed language only youth can sustain. But the moment that travelled was not the gifts themselves. It was the reference. Unboxing a pair of Saint Laurent heels, Barker remarked, “Nasty. With a Pucci outfit? Nasty,” and moved on to unboxing her next gift.

By the next morning, her comment section had become a forum for genuine inquiry. Comments included “What is poochie?” and “I don’t get it, what is a Pucci outfit?” Somewhere in Florence, an archivist quietly wept.

Those with even a passing familiarity with the house quickly joined in, posting their own videos, holding up everything from jelly slides and sneakers to their own feathered heels and declaring that yes, these too would be nasty with a Pucci outfit.

For the uninitiated: Emilio Pucci, an Italian aristocrat, founded his namesake house in 1947. It became synonymous with kaleidoscopic prints in the 1960s and 70s, worn by women who moved effortlessly between yachts, villas and cocktail hours. Pucci was expressive, confident, and unmistakable. It was colour with conviction.

Its cultural high point predates TikTok. Marilyn Monroe wore it off-duty. Jackie Kennedy wore it on Capri. Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor wore it as second skin. Crepe caftans, jersey sets and chiffon sheaths in electric hues became signatures of a jet-set glamour that felt both relaxed and, dare it be said, nasty.

By the early 2000s, Pucci had found a new audience. Lindsay Lohan in a mini dress. Jennifer Lopez treating Pucci less as a label and more as a lifestyle commitment. The house slipped in and out of fashion’s focus, as heritage brands often do.

More recently, it re-emerged on Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Sofia Richie Grainge, a brief, colourful interruption to quiet luxury’s ongoing reign.

Which brings us back to Alabama Barker, our unlikely oracle. In 2026, Pucci is not about nostalgia or novelty. It is about self-awareness, theatrical confidence, and a clear-eyed understanding of what might be nasty.

There are few symbols in luxury that carry the weight and recognition of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas. For 130 years, those interlaced LV initials and delicate floral medallions have graced the arms of style icons, travelled the world in the hands of discerning jet-setters, and remained an unwavering emblem of French craftsmanship. Now, as we step into 2026, the legendary House is marking this momentous milestone with a year-long celebration that promises to redefine how we see this timeless motif.

In 1896, Georges Vuitton created the Monogram canvas as both tribute and strategic innovation. Honouring his father Louis – the founder who transformed travel with revolutionary trunk designs – Georges designed an intricate pattern of interlaced LV initials and floral medallions that served a critical business purpose: protecting the House’s authenticity against rampant counterfeiting. Drawing from Neo-Gothic ornamentation and the era’s fascination with Japonism, he registered a patent for what would become far more than anti-counterfeiting protection – a defining signature that embodied Louis Vuitton’s philosophy of excellence and modernity.

Louis Vuitton has chosen to honour 130 years of the Monogram through bold reinterpretation that speaks directly to today’s luxury landscape, proving that true heritage lies not in preservation alone, but in fearless evolution.

The New Monogram Anniversary Collection

The Monogram Anniversary Collection unveils three distinct expressions of the iconic pattern, each telling its own story of innovation and craftsmanship. The Monogram Origine Collection is perhaps the most emotionally resonant, revisiting the very first 1896 pattern through an entirely new lens. The traditional jacquard weave has been reimagined using a linen and cotton blend, rendered in soft pastel hues that feel both fresh and timeless. The inspiration? An archival client register cover discovered in the House’s extensive archives – a beautiful reminder that luxury is often found in the most unexpected places.

For those who appreciate the poetry of leather, the VVN Collection celebrates Louis Vuitton’s unparalleled leather goods legacy. Crafted from the finest natural cowhide, each piece is designed to develop a unique patina over time – a living testament to the wearer’s journey. There’s something deeply romantic about owning a piece that evolves with you, becoming more beautiful with each adventure.

Perhaps the most avant-garde of the three, the Time Trunk Collection employs sophisticated trompe-l’oeil printing to recreate the textures and metallic details of Louis Vuitton’s historic trunks. It’s heritage transformed into artful illusion – a perfect metaphor for how the House continues to bridge past and present with remarkable ingenuity.

LV 130 year anniversary

The celebration also honours the Monogram’s most beloved silhouettes: the Speedy (1930), which redefined personal mobility; the Keepall (1930), forever symbolising freedom and effortless travel; the Noé (1932), originally designed to carry champagne bottles and still celebrating life’s joyful moments; the Alma (1992), with its architectural elegance inspired by Parisian sophistication; and the Neverfull (2007), the modern woman’s essential companion.

Each of these bags tells a story not just of design evolution, but of how women’s lives have changed over nearly a century. From the jazz-age flapper needing a chic travel companion to today’s multitasking professional requiring both style and functionality, Louis Vuitton has consistently anticipated and answered these needs.

Under the creative direction of talents like Nicolas Ghesquière for women’s collections and Pharrell Williams for men’s, the House demonstrates how heritage can evolve alongside contemporary design.

Meanwhile, collaborations with artists like Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, and Richard Prince have shown that the Monogram canvas can be a playground for artistic expression while maintaining its essential DNA. It’s this balance between respect for tradition and openness to interpretation that keeps Louis Vuitton relevant in an ever-changing luxury landscape.

The Monogram’s 130th year underscores how the House continues to evolve a historic design for a contemporary audience, positioning heritage not as something static, but as something that can be reinterpreted and renewed.

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Anniversary Collection will be available from January 2026. For more information, visit au.louisvuitton.com

There is comfort in knowing some pieces will never fall out of favour, but trends are what give fashion its pulse. In recent years, that pulse has been racing. Micro trends surface, peak and disappear at a pace that can make even the most fashion-literate feel one step behind.

Cue Pinterest Predicts. The platform’s annual trend forecast draws on the search behaviour of millions of users to spotlight what is gaining real momentum. Rather than chasing fleeting aesthetics, it captures collective curiosity and has become one of the most reliable indicators of where fashion and beauty are heading next.

Looking ahead to 2026, the mood is unmistakably nostalgic, with escapism woven throughout. Fashion and beauty continue to reach for familiarity, comfort and fantasy, with accessories emerging as the quiet power players that define a look.

With 21 predictions covering everything from fashion to homeware and leisure, the report offers a wide view of what is coming next.

Below, we have narrowed it down to the 10 fashion and beauty trends set to have the biggest impact on your wardrobe and beauty routine for the year ahead.

Glamoratti

Minimalism and ‘quiet luxury’ are taking a back seat in 2026. A distinctly ’80s brand of maximalism is stepping back into the spotlight, with bold proportions and unapologetic glamour leading the charge. Pinterest searches for “80s luxury”, “high collar jacket” and “baggy suit” are climbing fast, signalling a shift toward bolder dressing among Gen Z and Millennials.

Expect exaggerated shoulders, saturated jewel tones and statement gold jewellery that feels intentionally indulgent.

Poetcore

Interest in the poet aesthetic continues to climb, tapping into a romanticised vision of creativity, intellect and old-world charm.

The look is anchored in scholarly staples with a soft edgethink chunky knits, timeworn blazers, slouchy satchels, aged leather and the occasional cape or tie worn with intention rather than formality.

Brooched

Pinterest predicts 2026

Brooches have reasserted themselves as one of fashion’s most versatile accessories. Sidestepping predictable choices, they offer a considered way to introduce character and distinction into an outfit. As the appetite for expressive accessorising grows, from personalised embellishments to vintage-leaning details, the return of the brooch feels both natural and timely.

While a delve into a mother’s or grandmother’s jewellery box may reveal a forgotten heirloom, a new generation of thoughtfully designed brooches is also arriving, offering modern interpretations with enduring appeal.

Laced Up

Lace has long occupied a place within fashion’s visual language, but its current revival feels more deliberate than nostalgic. Once synonymous with bohemian dressing in the 2010s, it has re-entered the discourse through a more considered, luxury lens, resurfacing in recent collections from houses such as Chloé, Chanel and Alexander McQueen.

After lacy tights marked the first phase of its return this year, the trend expands in 2026 with a broader, more expressive application. Lace moves beyond hosiery into collars, bandanas and belts, drawing inspiration from doilies and heirloom embroidery.

The influence moves seamlessly into beauty, where intricate nail art and softly detailed makeup mirror the same ornamental sensibility.

Vamp Romantic

With renewed interest in gothic cinema in 2025, from Jenna Ortega’s emergence as Gen Z’s resident goth girl in Wednesday season two to forthcoming adaptations of Wuthering Heights and Dracula, it comes as little surprise that gothic beauty is set to resurface in 2026.

The aesthetic leans dark and romantic rather than overtly theatrical, defined by inky pouts, softly smudged eyes and nails lacquered in shades of black and oxblood. It is vampy, expressive and unmistakably cinematic.

Cool Blue

Pinterest predicts 2026

Cherry red defined 2025. For 2026, Pinterest predicts cool blue will emerge as one of fashion’s most influential shades, cutting across ready-to-wear, accessories and beauty. The icy palette feels deliberately aloof, appearing in sharply tailored coats, glacial jewellery and frost-toned finishing touches.

It resonates strongly with Gen Z and Millennials, offering a modern alternative to traditional neutrals. From frosted makeup to ice-blue bridal looks, the subzero hue is less about novelty and more about mood, delivering a cool, composed aesthetic poised to shape the year ahead.

Glitchy Glam

Pinterest predicts 2026

“Glitchy Glam” is embracing imperfection with intention. This is beauty that plays with contrast and disruption, from mismatched manicures and two-toned lips to layered eye looks built from clashing shades.

Pinterest data points to a growing appetite for eccentric and avant-garde makeup, alongside asymmetric cuts and deliberately off-kilter styling. The result is a look that feels expressive, experimental and unconcerned with polish, celebrating individuality through beauty that is a little strange, a little playful and entirely deliberate.

Khaki Coded

Pinterest predicts 2026
Image: Courtesy of Pinterest

“Khaki Coded” taps into fashion’s growing fascination with lifestyle dressing, with wanderlust and the palaeontologist emerging as unlikely style muses. For Gen Z and Millennials, khaki becomes a mood rather than a single shade, shaping utilitarian wardrobes that feel adventurous yet considered.

Think Bermuda shorts, pocketed vests, utility jackets, pleated trousers and brown linen shirts that suggest exploration while remaining quietly refined.

Opera Aesthetic

Pinterest predicts 2026
Image: Courtesy of Pinterest

From sumptuous drapery and opulent jewellery to lavish, dressed-up occasions inspired by vintage balls, fashion is embracing a more extravagant mood.

Pinterest searches reflect this appetite for spectacle, with “midnight masquerade” up by 95% and “opera outfits” up by 55%. The return of millinery only amplifies the effect, proving that the desire to dress up, properly, is far from over.

Wilderkind

Pinterest predicts 2026
Image: Courtesy of Pinterest

Wilderkind reimagines animal influence through a softer, more romantic lens. Rather than bold leopard or zebra prints, the mood shifts toward an enchanted forest sensibility, where nature feels whimsical rather than overt.

Fawn markings replace traditional animal prints, while dragonfly nails, bug-like jewellery and fox-inspired silhouettes lend a sense of quiet fantasy. Pinterest searches reflect growing interest in insect motifs and animal-inspired dressing, resulting in looks that feel expressive and playful.

Few actors have experienced a rise as swift or as assured as Chase Infiniti.

At twenty-five, she has already made her feature debut under Paul Thomas Anderson in One Battle After Another, secured a Golden Globe nomination for her performance, and established herself as a performer with rare composure and quiet magnetism.

This combination of early acclaim and measured presence has made Infiniti increasingly significant to Louis Vuitton. The Maison has now confirmed her as its newest House ambassador, a formal step in a relationship that has been developing since 2024.

In that time, she has become a consistent presence at Nicolas Ghesquière’s women’s runway shows, including the latest Spring Summer 2026 presentation at the Musée du Louvre. Her red carpet choices have further reinforced the alignment between her aesthetic instincts and the House’s sensibility.

Most recently, she appeared at the 5th Annual Academy Gala in Los Angeles wearing a garment dyed green silk taffeta bustier gown with precise overstitch pleats.

Ghesquière has spoken of her with evident admiration, noting that she carries an authenticity that resonates long after the performance ends.

“I have watched Chase’s debut with genuine delight, I find her totally captivating in the roles she plays. Beyond her remarkable talent, she radiates an authenticity that is truly unforgettable,” he says.

Infiniti now joins an ambassador roster that includes Lisa of BLACKPINK, Zendaya, Emma Stone, Hoyeon and Léa Seydoux, a group that has shaped much of the Maison’s contemporary cultural presence.

Her appointment feels like a natural extension of her emerging fashion identity, defined by refinement, architectural silhouettes and a confident sense of clarity. With awards season approaching, anticipation is already building around how Infiniti and the Maison will continue to evolve their partnership.

The post Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams And Anna Wintour To Co-Chair 2026 Met Gala appeared first on marie claire.

The 2026 Met Gala will kick off the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring Costume Institute exhibition, “Costume Art.” Leading the event are four prominent figures across entertainment, sports, and fashion: Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

This year’s gala marks Beyoncé’s first return to the Met in a decade; she last ascended the museum’s steps in 2016 for the “Manus x Machina” exhibition, wearing Givenchy Haute Couture.

Kidman and Williams, by contrast, have remained Met Gala fixtures, most recently attending May’s “Superfine” event—Kidman in sculptural, vintage-inspired Balenciaga and Williams in a custom Lacoste tennis ensemble.

Joining the co-chairs, Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz will lead the 2026 Host Committee.

They will be joined by Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult, with additional names to be announced.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos will serve as the lead individual sponsors of the 2026 Met Gala, supporting both the exhibition and its major fundraising initiatives. Their participation, as two figures frequently cited in discussions of America’s evolving oligarchic structures, has prompted renewed scrutiny of the Met Gala’s cultural legitimacy.

In light of this, many have questioned why the co-chairs agreed to take on their roles. Pop culture commentator Blakely Neiman Thornton addressed the issue on Instagram, opening his video by saying, “[Jeff Bezos and Anna Wintour] managed to assemble a group of girls and gays that could easily shield the bullsh*t deservedly coming their way.”

He continued, “the person that continues to disappoint me lately to the nth degree is our girl [Beyonce]….It is now clear to see that her understanding of the culture and of blackness are completely motherf*cking surface which ultimately makes them worthless…When it comes to her choices, I’m done.”

Thornton also addressed Sabrina Carpenter directly, asking, “what are you doing boo? You’re more than willing to call the white house evil, and rightfully so. But throwing a party with his financial backers is a go?”

Comments under the video reflected the divide in public opinion. Some echoed Thornton’s critique, with one writing, “Beyonce letting herself be used like this is the disappointment of the decade,” while another said, “Celebrities will always disappoint us at the end of the day. Because you know what they have, that we don’t? Class solidarity.”

Others, meanwhile, celebrated Beyoncé’s return, saying, “beyonce back at the met gala… i used to pray for days like this 😭

Anna Wintour will also co-chair the 2026 Met Gala, her first since stepping down as American Vogue editor-in-chief. Chloe Malle now leads Vogue’s editorial content, while Wintour assumes global content roles.

December is traditionally a quieter month on the fashion calendar, a brief pause before the intensity of fashion week season returns in February and March.

Yet even as the year slows, the industry never fully stands still. As 2025 draws to a close, brands are using the moment to set the tone for what comes next, with major announcements, strategic appointments and headline-making launches arriving just in time for summer.

From acquisitions at legacy fashion houses to the revival of pop-ups, seasonally themed launches and the release of covetable holiday accessories, this month’s news signals both reflection and forward momentum. These are the fashion moments closing out the year and shaping the season ahead.

Max Mara’s New Chadstone Flagship

Max Mara has opened a new boutique at Chadstone Shopping Centre, marking the brand’s latest expansion in Australia’s luxury retail landscape. Located in the heart of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest shopping destination, the store brings Max Mara’s unmistakable Italian elegance to one of Melbourne’s most prestigious fashion precincts, joining an edit of the world’s leading luxury houses.

The new space is defined by a refined balance of materials, light and form. Its sculptural façade is crafted in cocciopesto—an iconic Mediterranean material reinterpreted through a contemporary lens—created by artisans from Reggio Emilia, the brand’s birthplace. Slender rods and linear lighting elements form luminous vertical columns, lending depth, movement and a sense of visual rhythm that draws visitors in from the mall.

Inside, a warm, enveloping palette reflects Max Mara’s signature codes, with Calacatta Gold marble and caramel peach–tinted glass complemented by soft camel fabrics, a nod to the house’s iconic coats. The result is a bright, sophisticated and welcoming environment that celebrates Italian craftsmanship, timeless design and the enduring appeal of the Max Mara aesthetic.

NYE At Olympus

Olympus is set to usher in the new year in full celebratory mode, transforming New Year’s Eve into a high-energy, late-night affair that runs well into the early hours. Midnight in the House of Gods will see the venue reimagined as a modern Athenian amphitheatre, with bougainvillea, sculptural stone textures and dramatic lighting drawing all focus to a pulsing central dance floor. The tone is decadent and immersive, designed for those who want to ring in 2026 surrounded by atmosphere, music and movement.

Guests will be treated to roaming plates of bold Greek flavours from arrival, paired with free-flowing drinks that set the pace for the night—beginning with a Four Pillars cocktail on entry and culminating in a midnight toast of Louis Roederer Champagne. Daimon Downey (Sneaky Sound System) will host the celebrations, while DJ Rich Penny (RÜFÜS DU SOL, FISHER) commands the decks with an all-night set, keeping energy high until 2am. Tickets are $299 per person, including food and a three-hour beverage package, with limited capacity ensuring an intimate, high-impact celebration.

The Prada Group has officially acquired fellow Milan fashion house Versace in a $2.2 billion deal, bringing two of Italy’s most recognisable luxury labels under one roof. The acquisition places Versace’s high-glamour aesthetic alongside Prada’s cerebral minimalism and Miu Miu’s youth-driven edge. The group confirmed the transaction following full regulatory approval.

The move is expected to revitalise Versace after a period of softer post-pandemic performance under former owner Capri Holdings. Prada heir Lorenzo Bertelli will lead the next phase as executive chair.

Following the news, Dario Vitale stepped down as the creative director of Versace after only eight months at the helm.

Dario Vitale Exits Versace After Less Than 9 Months

Dario Vitale’s debut collection for Versace, hailed for its ’80s-inspired opulence and nods to Gianni Versace’s iconic tailoring, was a critical success. However, just months after his appointment in April, Vitale’s tenure came to an abrupt end following Prada’s acquisition of Versace.

With his first collection yet to hit retail, fans are left wondering if his vision for the brand will ever materialise in stores.

Denim trends may shift with every season, yet occasionally a collection arrives that feels like a necessary recalibration.

Guess is making precisely that statement with its new Timeless Denim range, a polished reinterpretation of the brand’s classic Americana spirit that blends conscious design, modern craftsmanship and a whisper of early 2000s nostalgia.

For a label that has shaped the global denim conversation for decades, this latest chapter feels both comfortingly familiar and thoughtfully evolved. The collection centres on clean lines, refined silhouettes and elevated everyday pieces created to live well beyond the constraints of seasonal styling.

The Spring campaign, photographed by Josh Ryan and directed by Paul Marciano, captures the essence of Guess with striking clarity.

The imagery reflects the brand’s distinctive balance of Californian ease and sharp glamour, referencing early aughts style through low-slung cuts, authentic washes and an understated sensuality that Guess helped to define. Every element is considered, from the sculpted fits to the subtle textural detailing that lends each garment a contemporary edge.

At its core, the collection champions longevity. These are garments conceived with intention, shaped by strong construction and meticulous finishing. Guess is presenting wardrobe staples designed to endure, allowing you to return to them season after season without feeling tethered to passing trends.

The result is denim that feels both wearable and transformative.

Beyond its nostalgic charm, Timeless Denim reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to durability and conscious production. The focus on quality materials and responsible processes encourages a slower and more deliberate approach to dressing, one that values pieces that can be worn, shared and eventually passed on.

Whether you favour a tailored straight leg, a soft flare or a versatile denim jacket, the collection makes a clear promise. This is denim created to evolve with you.

The Guess Timeless Denim collection is now available in store and online at guess.com.au.

What Does The 2026 Met Gala Theme Mean For Red Carpet Fashion? https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/2026-met-gala-theme/ Tue, 18 Nov 2025 01:15:56 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1497556 Our most conceptual theme yet

The post What Does The 2026 Met Gala Theme Mean For Red Carpet Fashion? appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has officially announced the theme for the 2026 Met Gala, revealing “Costume Art” as the creative focus of fashion’s biggest night.

Each year the Met Gala theme becomes the northern star of the red carpet moments that often become defining moments of the zeitgeist in their own right. Who could forget Jared Leto carrying a replica of his own head, Zandaya’s Cinderella-esque gown complete with Roach Law as fairy Godmother or Tyla’s form-fitting gown that embodied the sands of time?

The 2026 theme marks a pivot from the Costume Institute as it looks to recontextualisation fashion within the broader dialogue of fine art.

It also accompanies a major milestone for the Costume Institute, which will open its new permanent home—the Condé M. Nast Galleries—a 12,000-square-foot exhibition space positioned beside the Met’s Great Hall. This marks the first time the Institute has had a dedicated, permanent gallery for rotating displays of its collection.

So, let’s unpack, shall we?

What Does The 2026 Met Gala Theme Actually Mean?

With the announcement of the 2026 Met Gala theme as “Costume Art”, you may be wondering what does that actually mean?

Curator of the new exhibition, Andrew Bolton, asserted that fashion doesn’t just hang on a mannequin – it is inseparable from the human body.

Bolton emphasized the “centrality of the dressed body” by pairing historical and contemporary garments with artworks drawn from the Museum’s 5,000-year collection.

“What connects every curatorial department and what connects every single gallery in the museum is fashion, or the dressed body,” Bolton told Vogue.

“It’s the common thread throughout the whole museum, which is really what the initial idea for the exhibition was, this epiphany: I know that we’ve often been seen as the stepchild, but, in fact, the dressed body is front and center in every gallery you come across. Even the nude is never naked

Because the exhibition focuses on the body as both subject and canvas, we can expect celebrities and designers to translate that idea in bold, sculptural and highly interpretive ways.

How Does The Theme Differ From The Dress Code?

While the theme guides the exhibition, the Met Gala dress code offers attendees a more specific direction for what they will wear on the night. For example, last year’s dress code was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” on which the dress code further elaborated to be labelled, “Tailored For You.”

The dress code has not yet been released for 2026, and it typically arrives closer to the event.

The Western-Inspired Ralph Lauren Collection Everyone’s Talking About https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/ralph-lauren-fall-holiday-2025-sun-ranch-byron-bay/ Fri, 07 Nov 2025 03:20:19 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1496610 Western glamour meets Byron Bay

The post The Western-Inspired Ralph Lauren Collection Everyone’s Talking About appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Ralph Lauren really knows how to host a dinner party. This week, in the Byron Bay hinterlands, the brand introduced its Fall/Holiday 2025 campaign with an intimate gathering at Sun Ranch, the much-talked-about 55-acre hideaway in Coopers Shoot. The property – a former cattle farm transformed by a collective of fashion and hospitality creatives – recently changed hands (the price is undisclosed, if you’re wondering). Once dubbed “the hotel of good times,” Sun Ranch quickly became a cool ranch-style Australiana getaway. And its wide paddocks, horse rails, and honey-toned hills created a fitting stage for Ralph Lauren’s latest exploration of Western identity.

Fall/Holiday 2025 is Ralph Lauren’s most distilled interpretation of the American West in years. The designer frames the landscape not as myth but as a place of possibility. “America’s rugged landscapes have long been both a place of refuge and inspiration for me,” he said. “From the snowcapped mountains to the sunlit valleys, the West is a tapestry of lifestyles and time-honoured traditions where authenticity and aspiration live together under endless skies.”

That vision translates to clothes with the ultimate combo – structure and swagger. Think velvet tailoring that feels almost architectural; riding boots paired with hand-embroidered gowns; precise shirting cut against raw, frontier fabrics; and outerwear that carries the weight and romance of a winter spent closer to the elements. Black, tobacco, bone and charcoal dominate, allowing textures – French netting, shearling, suede, heavy cotton twill – to do the narrative lifting. Accessories stay just as smart: The Ralph bag, reimagined with the sleek lines of Lauren’s car collection, introduces a new kind of Western utility.

The guest list? Naturally, very chic. Byron local Elsa Pataky arrived in a Ralph Lauren Collection jacket, shirt, tie, shorts and shoes, anchored by The Ralph tote. Duckie Thot wore a sculptural Collection dress with the shoulder bag; Olivia DeJonge chose a lean Collection look cinched with a belt; while other guests leaned into tuxedo shirting, tailored coats, and tonal layers that nodded to ranch dressing.

As guests moved through the grounds at sunset, they were ushered to a long table lined with candlelight and native florals for dinner under the stars. Dreamy? Of course. Ralph Lauren wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rebecca Vallance Hosts Sydney’s Most Stylish Nightcap https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/rebecca-vallance-nightcap-sydney-2025/ Sun, 26 Oct 2025 21:48:57 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1297789 Lake Como meets the Cosmos

The post Rebecca Vallance Hosts Sydney’s Most Stylish Nightcap appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Sydney’s McRae Bar shimmered under candlelight last week as designer Rebecca Vallance hosted an intimate Nightcap soirée – a glamorous celebration marking the unveiling of her Resort and Holiday 2025 collections and the launch of her third Sydney boutique at Chatswood Chase.

The evening embodied Vallance’s signature polish and playfulness. Lipstick motifs adorned mirrored surfaces, a bespoke cocktail menu mirrored the season’s rich palette, and guests -including Kylah Day, Helen Vestergaard, Bella Salerno, Kathleen Paton, Sylvia Jeffreys, Maria Tedesco and Serena Wyllie – floated through the dimly lit space dressed in Rebecca Vallance. DJ Arianna Sunshine provided a fun soundtrack as champagne flutes clinked.

This season, Vallance’s dual offering – Resort 2025 and Holiday 2025: LUNARISELLE – captures two distinct yet intertwined worlds: the sun-soaked ease of la dolce vita and the transformative allure of the celestial unknown.

Resort 2025 is a love letter to Lake Como – all Riviera romance and golden-hour luminosity. The collection reimagines Italian elegance through fluid silhouettes, unapologetically bold prints, and a palette of deep navy, sunlit yellow, and vivid pinks. Designed for the woman who moves effortlessly from boat deck to ballroom, it embodies the kind of elevated nonchalance that defines high summer.

In contrast, LUNARISELLE, the Holiday 2025 collection, looks skyward. Inspired by the Year of the Snake, it glitters with serpentine diamante motifs – a symbol of reinvention. Think sculpted black dresses, liquid sequins, rich burgundy velvet and metallic accents, reflecting transformation and modern sensuality.

“The Nightcap was designed to celebrate this new chapter for Rebecca Vallance – a reflection of where we are as a brand: confident, glamorous and unapologetically feminine,” said Vallance.

Is The Bush Back? Skims Just Dropped A Line Of Merkins https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/skims-fake-bush-merkin/ Wed, 15 Oct 2025 06:11:05 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1295913 Kim K does not beat around the bush.

The post Is The Bush Back? Skims Just Dropped A Line Of Merkins appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Throw out your razor and cancel your next laser appointment. Kim Kardashian has officially declared that the bush is back.

Overnight, the Skim’s founder dropped a series of thong-style merkins. All of which have since sold out.

The drop follows a string of provocative product launches from Skims, including the nipple bra, piercing bra and sculpt face wrap.

The faux bush collection was then promoted via a retro game-show parody campaign that asks: “Does the carpet match the drapes?” Well, with 12 variations across a range of skin tones, hair colours and hair textures, the choice is yours. But it will set you back $70 a pair.

What Is A Merkin?

Dating back to the 15th century, merkins are essentially pubic wigs that were first used by sex workers and women who had shaved their pubic hair for hygiene or medical reasons.

Skims Merkin.

Over time, they evolved into theatrical and cinematic props used for modesty during nude scenes. While traditionally, they were made from human hair, modern merkins are mostly synthetic.

When Did the Bush Go Out of Fashion?

The bush fell out of style in the late 1980s and early 1990s, as shifting beauty ideals began to equate hairlessness with desirability, youth and hygiene. The rise of Brazilian waxing marked a turning point, quickly spreading through fashion magazines, porn culture and television. By the 2000s, pop icons like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears embodied the era’s glossy, hyper-groomed aesthetic, while Sex and the City shamed the full bush. Smooth skin became synonymous with being “put together,” and the natural look was relegated to relic status — a reminder of the freer, fuzzier 1970s.

Is The Bush Back In Fashion

Less than a year ago, Maison Margiela turned heads at their spring/summer 2024 couture show. by sending models down the runway wearing faux pubic hair beneath sheer, Victorian-inspired gowns. Björk later wore one of the looks—merkin included—on the cover of Vogue Scandinavia.

Now, Skim’s is marketing the bush to the masses. But will it catch on? Well, as summer rolls around in the southern hemisphere, Aussies could be the first to find out. Bring on bikini season.

Nicole Kidman Returns As Chanel House Ambassador https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/nicole-kidman-chanel-ambassador/ Mon, 06 Oct 2025 23:07:45 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1295327 Nicole Kidman is making moves in fashion

The post Nicole Kidman Returns As Chanel House Ambassador appeared first on marie claire.

Nicole Kidman has revealed she’s joining Chanel as the new house ambassador. Following the debut of the house’s new creative director, Matthieu Blazy, at Paris Fashion Week, Chanel has been unveiling its roster of celebrity faces–with Nic confirmed in the mix.

This exciting career news for Kidman comes a week after news of her split from husband Keith Urban. The Australian actress filed for divorce from the country music star only last Tuesday.

The first images of Kidman as a Chanel House Ambassador dropped today, with the Australian actress attending the maison’s Spring Summer 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week.

Kidman was joined by her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, at the runway show at the Grand Palais in Paris on October 6.

This is not Kidman’s first venture with the fashion stalwart, having been the House ambassador for the Chanel No5 fragrance campaign, directed by Baz Luhrmann. Nicole has frequently worn Chanel on the red carpet, including re-wearing her iconic dress from the Chanel No5 campaign to the 2023 Met Gala.

“I am thrilled to be joining Chanel as it begins its new chapter with Matthieu at the helm,” Kidman said in a statement. “As someone who has such an appreciation for Haute Couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest Haute Couture House still in operation and having the opportunity to wear what I know will be gorgeous creations.

“Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.”

Meanwhile, Blazy said relished Kidman re-joining the house. “From the unforgettable Baz Luhrmann film to her countless red carpet looks, Nicole has always been part of the history of the House. Free and ever-changing, she is for me the embodiment of the Chanel woman,” he said in a statement. “I know we also share a genuine passion for craft and savoir-faire. Having worked with Nicole in the past and now reuniting with her at Chanel is a dream come true and couldn’t make me happier.”

In the official announcement from Chanel, the label lauded Kidman’s illustrious career as an Academy Award and six-time Golden Globe Award-winner. They also celebrated her work as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, and a champion for women in cinema.

In 2017, Nicole pledged to work with a female director every 18 months to boost women’s behind-the-camera representation in Hollywood. So far, she has delivered, with exceptional roles in talked-about films, like 2024’s Babygirl.

Nicole joins another newly-announced Chanel ambassador for 2025, fellow actress and The Bear star, Ayo Edebiri.

The Oasis x Adidas Collab Making Merch Covetable Again Is Coming To Australia https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/oasis-adidas-collection-merch-australia/ Thu, 25 Sep 2025 04:21:13 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1285023 No looking back in anger

It might not be that surprising to learn that the Gallagher brothers haven’t performed on stage together since 2009. But what is unbelievable, is the fact that up until now, there’s been no talk of an Oasis x Adidas collab.

Truly mindblowing considering the clothes worn by the Gallagher frontmen influenced an entire generation of Britpop believers, with their sartorial influence remaining omnipresent to this day.

Oasis embodied the laddish look that dominated much of the 1990s (and beyond) with their mod-meets-Mancunian working-class style. Statement outerwear, like Barbour parkers zipped up to the neck and buttoned (always), with plenty of football references – and polo shirts from the likes of nineties and early-aughts favourites Fred Perry and Lacoste – cemented Oasis in the cultural consciousness for their casual yet classic “Northern cool” aesthetic.

Now, as the brothers gear up to take their Oasis Live Tour across the world, even making a stop or two in Australia this October, their tour merch collab with Adidas feels like a long time coming.

The collection titled Original Forever, features a co-branded 26-piece range of covetable adidas staples in colourways like sky blue, black, cream and maroon, spanning the full gamut of the brand’s product offerings.

Fans will be familiar with pieces like the Oasis Live ’25 Firebird tracksuit (a Noel Gallagher favourite), and the range of raglan sleeve jerseys – just like the one worn by Liam in the 1996 charity football match – only updated with the band’s iconic branding.

Of course, what would an Oasis fashion collection be without a selection of bucket hats and coach jackets – worn by Liam in the ad released to celebrate the announcement on June 20.

Will The Oasis X Adidas Collab Be Available In Australia?

It’s official” The Oasis X Adidas merch is coming down under. The collection will be available in-store and online at Adidas, as well as the Oasis tour website itself from Monday, September 29th.

Naturally, the pieces will also be available on the ground at Oasis Live ’25 fan stores across all tour dates.

And so it begins: the most anticipated season of designer debuts in recent memory, with four new creative directors unveiled in Milan alone, opened not with a runway but with a film. Demna’s first gesture at Gucci for Spring/Summer 26 was deliberately cinematic, eschewing the traditional catwalk for a premiere inside La Borsa, Milan’s historic stock exchange.

Outside, models approached like movie stars, paparazzi bulbs flaring, while an intense cordon of security kept the crowd at bay. Within the neoclassical halls, Demna appeared serene, conversing easily, his usual severity softened into a disarming ease. It felt less like a debut under pressure than an auteur taking his seat in the cinema.

Two days earlier, the designer had teased his ideas with Gucci: La Famiglia, a 38-look capsule shot by Catherine Opie, whom he calls “the Rembrandt of our time.” These portraits acted as the overture to The Tiger, a half-hour film directed by Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn and starring Demi Moore as Barbara Gucci, a gloriously mercurial matriarch presiding over her family’s decadent implosion.

Ed Harris delivered a perfectly cantankerous turn as a visiting Vanity Fair journalist; Edward Norton drifted through a surreal hallucination; Keke Palmer commanded the screen; Kendall Jenner and Alex Consani appeared in sly cameos, the latter gifting the audience the already-iconic line, “rich bitch.” The film played as both spectacle and manifesto, an irreverent collision of family drama, fashion fantasy, and cultural commentary.

The collection is a meticulously considered reworking of the house’s codes, a dialogue between heritage and modernity. Monogrammed travel trunks recall Gucci’s origins, bamboo handles and the green-red stripe are sharpened into architectural gestures, and the ghosts of Tom Ford, Alessandro Michele, and Frida Giannini flicker through the silhouettes. Yet the result is unmistakably Demna: slyly humorous, sculptural, and self-aware. The clothes are lighter, more urbane, and unabashedly flirtatious.

On the red carpet, Serena Williams swept in wearing a sheer, long-sleeved gown with a monogrammed underlay and mermaid hem — a reworked Look 27.

Gwyneth Paltrow made her Milan Fashion Week debut in Look 4, a monogrammed skirt set styled with a satin blouse and sculptural boots. Demi Moore commanded attention in Look 37, a burnt-orange gown embroidered with crystals and shadowy florals that shimmered under the lights. Lila Moss reprised Look 18, pairing a croc-embossed mini with a black turtleneck and boots, a look that nodded playfully to her mother’s 1990s minimalism.

Tomorrow, the capsule lands in ten flagship boutiques worldwide, a swift retail manoeuvre designed to capture the momentum of the night. Demna, for his part, called this moment “baby steps,” though it felt closer to a cinematic coup d’état, Gucci stripped of hesitation and embracing new audacity. If this is merely the prologue, February’s runway promises to be the opening scene of a new Gucci era.

Every Message in Kate Middleton’s Trump Visit Wardrobe, Decoded https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/kate-middleton-princess-of-wales-trump/ Mon, 22 Sep 2025 06:13:27 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1294209 Three looks, one masterclass in royal diplomacy

The post Every Message in Kate Middleton’s Trump Visit Wardrobe, Decoded appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
When Donald Trump touched down at Windsor Castle for his second state visit to the UK, the stage was set for pomp and politics. Horse-drawn carriages, full military regalia, a fancy Windsor banquet. But the true spectacle was Catherine, Princess of Wales – or, as the internet still insists, Kate Middleton. From her crimson coat dress at the welcome ceremony to the gold lace gown at the banquet, and finally her pared-back country chic for a walkabout with Melania Trump, Catherine orchestrated the ultimate fashion masterclass in soft power.

Look One: Burgundy Authority

Princess Katherine, Prince William and Donald Trump
Image: Instagram @princeandprincessofwales

The first image of the visit was Catherine stepping forward to greet the Trumps on the Windsor lawns, hand outstretched in a deep burgundy coat dress by Emilia Wickstead, topped with a Jane Taylor hat. The monochrome palette was both striking and serious. A diplomatic red softened into a regal shade, giving authority without aggression.

Pinned to her lapel was the Prince of Wales Feathers brooch – a heirloom that silently asserted her role within the institution. The brooch’s history stretches back to Queen Alexandra in 1863 and was later worn by Diana. By fastening it to her coat at this precise moment, Catherine placed herself firmly in a lineage of royal women who have shouldered the symbolism of the title.

The effect was immediate. Where Trump’s body language was characteristically bombastic, Catherine’s poise – burgundy against the English lawn – was elegant and controlled.

Look Two: The Fairy-Tale Banquet

Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate
Image: Instagram @princeandprincessofwales

Windsor’s banquet hall revealed Catherine’s pièce de résistance: a custom Phillipa Lepley gown in shimmering gold lace. The dress was a study in power dressing – glamorous enough to dominate headlines, refined enough to convey gravitas. Her jewels elevated the message. The Lover’s Knot tiara, heavy with Diana’s legacy, sparkled under chandeliers, while Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond drop earrings added another generational anchor. Taken together, the ensemble invoked Elizabeth, Diana, and Catherine herself – three women whose images define the modern monarchy.

Look Three: Country Calm

First Lady Melania and Princess Kate
Image: Instagram @princeandprincessofwales

Catherine shifted gears touring the grounds of Frogmore Cottage with Melania Trump, appearing in wide-legged tweed trousers, knee-high boots, and an olive-green blouse tied with a bow beneath a cropped jacket. It was a masterclass in “off-duty Windsor” – practical, approachable, but still impeccably tailored.

This was not about diamonds or tiaras. Where the banquet had been about grandeur, this look was about relatability – the future queen as outdoorsy, grounded, able to talk Scouts’ programming without intimidating formality. In contrast to Melania’s caramel suede jacket and pale trousers, Catherine’s ensemble spoke of heritage and substance.

Fashion As Vocabulary

Across three looks, Catherine told a story: authority, grandeur, approachability. Each outfit was a paragraph in a broader essay about the monarchy’s adaptability – continuity without rigidity, glamour without frivolity, warmth without loss of status.

Critics might dismiss this as over-interpretation, but Catherine herself has proved time and again that clothing is her most effective tool of communication. She rarely makes speeches at these occasions. Instead, she dresses in codes. Red for power, gold for heritage, tweed for relatability.

It’s a strategy inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who once said she wore bright coats so she could be “seen to be believed.” Catherine has evolved the practice for the social media age. Where Elizabeth relied on visibility, Catherine relies on virality. She knows the internet will decode every choice, and she dresses accordingly.

The Internet Reacts

And decode it did. “Kate Middleton” trended for hours on X, with TikTok edits likening her banquet gown to Anastasia’s ball dress. Instagram filled with side-by-side comparisons of Diana in the Lover’s Knot tiara. Commentators pointed out the symbolism of the brooch, the continuity of the earrings, the political theatre of seating Catherine next to Trump. One viral caption put it plainly: “Kate said diplomacy, but make it couture.”

State visits are designed to showcase political unity, but in the 21st century, the battle for influence is as much about images as treaties. And in this case, the message was clear: presidents may come and go, but the monarchy – with Catherine as its modern face – is here to stay.

Iconic Italian Designer Giorgio Armani Dies At 91 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/giorgio-armani-dead/ Thu, 04 Sep 2025 22:55:46 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1292564 “Creator, founder, and tireless driving force"

Giorgio Armani, the visionary Italian designer who transformed modern fashion with his timeless elegance and understated tailoring, has died aged 91.

The Armani Group confirmed his passing in a statement, describing him as the brand’s “creator, founder, and tireless driving force.”

Armani passed away peacefully in Milan, surrounded by loved ones. True to his reputation for relentless dedication, the designer continued working on collections and projects until his final days.

Giorgio armani

Over a career spanning half a century, Armani redefined style by blending sophistication with simplicity, creating designs that spoke to both Hollywood, royalty and fashion-lovers alike. Beyond fashion, he expanded into interiors, fragrance, sports, and hospitality, cementing Armani as a global lifestyle empire.

He will be remembered not only as a pioneering creator but as a deeply compassionate leader. “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family,” the statement reads.

“Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication.”

Always devoted to Milan, Armani supported his city through philanthropy and civic projects, becoming one of its most admired cultural figures. His legacy of independence, innovation, and humanity will continue under the guidance of his family and employees.

A funeral chamber will be open to the public on September 6–7 at the Armani/Teatro in Milan. In accordance with his wishes, Armani’s funeral will be held privately.

Giorgio armani

Armani revolutionized style with his relaxed, unstructured suits in the 1970s—ushering in a new, modern silhouette that would come to define the era. Fondly dubbed the “King of the Blazer,” he transformed formalwear with a softer, more sophisticated aesthetic that resonated across the globe.

His designs played a pivotal role in cinema—most notably through American Gigolo (1980), where Richard Gere’s wardrobe became iconic—and helped usher in the “power suit,” equipping women entering the workforce with elegance and confidence.

Armani also pioneered red carpet fashion decades before it became commonplace, dressing countless A-listers in his timeless designs. His aesthetic and vision continue to inspire fashion, culture, and design worldwide

Rebecca Vallance To Redesign Qantas Uniforms In Landmark Collaboration https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/qantas-rebecca-vallance-new-uniforms/ Thu, 04 Sep 2025 22:35:05 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1292426 Comfort meets couture

Australia’s flying kangaroo is getting a fashion-forward makeover. Qantas has announced that marie claire’s designer of the year 2023 Rebecca Vallance will helm the airline’s first major uniform overhaul in more than a decade, ushering in a new era for the national carrier as it prepares for its ambitious Project Sunrise flights and the largest fleet renewal in its history.

The choice of Vallance, known for her polished, red-carpet ready tailoring and modern take on femininity, signals a shift towards a sharper, more contemporary image for the airline. The new looks will be unveiled in 2027, replacing the current Martin Grant design that debuted in 2014. They join an illustrious design lineage that has included Yves Saint Laurent, Emilio Pucci, and Peter Morrissey.

But this is more than just a wardrobe update. Earlier this year, Qantas surveyed its 17,500-strong workforce – including cabin crew, engineers, pilots, and ground staff – on the everyday realities of their uniforms. Feedback on durability, comfort, and functionality will form the backbone of Vallance’s creative process, blending practicality with her signature sleek aesthetic. The result promises to be as wearable on a long-haul flight as it is iconic on the global stage.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson emphasised the symbolism of the redesign. “Our uniform represents the Qantas spirit all over the world,” she said. “We want the new uniform to reflect the pride our team feel when they wear it, and this redesign is a collaborative journey that will be shaped by our people every step of the way.”

For Vallance, the appointment is nothing short of career-defining. “To be entrusted with this redesign is a huge milestone,” she said. “I am looking forward to creating something iconic, yet wearable, while celebrating the people who make this airline such a beloved part of Australia’s story.”

With the airline’s biggest transformation in decades underway – 20 new Airbus A321XLRs on order and Project Sunrise ultra-long-haul flights in the pipeline – the uniform refresh feels like a fitting metaphor: a visual expression of modern Australia ready to take on the world. Expect sharp silhouettes, modern sophistication, and a renewed sense of national pride at 35,000 feet.

Dior Lands On Australia’s West Coast: Inside The New Perth Boutique https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/dior-perth-2025/ Mon, 01 Sep 2025 04:57:17 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1291960 The Maison makes Perth its latest destination

The post Dior Lands On Australia’s West Coast: Inside The New Perth Boutique appeared first on marie claire.

Christian Dior once said, “My dresses make a princess of every woman.” Now, for the first time, Perth will have its very own palace. On Friday 29 August, the French fashion house opened its inaugural West Coast boutique at 277 Murray Street in the historic Queen’s Building – an arrival that cements Perth’s growing place on the global luxury map.

The opening marks a significant expansion for Dior in Australia. While Sydney and Melbourne have long been home to flagship addresses, Perth’s debut signals a shift: international luxury is chasing the west’s booming cultural and economic energy.

Spread across two luminous floors, the space is a masterclass in Dior’s signature balance of heritage and modernity. The interiors nod to the house’s Parisian roots with soft, light-filled spaces and couture-level detailing – think moulded panelling, muted tones, and curated artworks – while embracing a distinctly Australian ease. Guests will discover the full breadth of Dior’s universe: women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods, fine jewellery, and timepieces.

Dior Perth Store

On the women’s floor, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s autumn–winter 2025–26 collection sets the tone – an intelligent conversation between eras, silhouettes, and gender codes. From reimagined Bar jackets to fluid trousers and statement outerwear, it’s a wardrobe that’s both timeless and entirely of the moment. Accessories play their own starring role, with Dior’s iconic Book Tote and Lady Dior bags sitting alongside the season’s new must-have footwear and sunglasses.

For men, Kim Jones’s Winter 2025 offering delivers precisely cut tailoring, exaggerated volumes, and a palette that swings from mineral neutrals to electric accents. It’s a collection that respects Dior’s storied menswear codes while speaking directly to today’s global luxury customer – modern, urban, and quietly confident.

Dior Perth Store

But the real coup de théâtre lies upstairs: a private VIP lounge designed for the brand’s most devoted clients. Plush seating, curated art, and an intimate atmosphere create a setting for one-on-one appointments, private fittings, and exclusive previews. In an era where luxury increasingly means experience, this space offers just that – unhurried moments of discovery far from the retail floor.

The store’s opening is also a love letter to Christian Dior’s passion for travel. As the designer himself expanded the house’s reach in the post-war years – from Paris to New York, London to Tokyo – so too does the brand continue to seek new cultural intersections. Murray Street’s Queen’s Building, with its mix of heritage architecture and city-centre buzz, offers exactly that: a place where Perth’s history and its cosmopolitan future meet.

The post Victoria’s Secret Announces A New Runway Show For 2025 appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Victoria’s Secret is officially back for another year, announcing a brand new runway show for October 2025.

Millennials will remember the gravity of a VS runway show, which minted the careers of a number of the world’s richest supermodels. A landmark annual event, it elevated the fashion runway to celebrity status, attracting major musical acts to its stage, and airing on prime time television at its peak.

However, following several scandals (such as body shaming, transphobia and an alleged Epstein tie) that saw a dramatic fall from grace, the brand has been desperate to resurrect its former image, with some much-needed improvements. After key leadership positions were vacated, the brand hopes some fresh blood will help resuscitate interest in the brand: starting with the iconic fashion show.

This year, Victoria’s Secret tapped the former design executive behind Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty lingerie brand to lead a new generation of the show. ELLE reports Adam Selman joined VS in April as its new senior vice president and executive creative director, several years after he started his originally launched his career with the company.

So, will this bring something new or more of the same—and which do fans actually want?

By the looks of the announcement, posted to Instagram on August 27, the show is going to stick to its roots. Models synonymous with the brand, including Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge, helped launch the show’s 2025 return in the short clip. Featuring the iconic hot pink backdrop, a string of models stepped up to a mic to make the ‘Angel Announcement’.

Scroll on to find out what we know about the Victoria’s Secret 2025 Runway Show.

Upon the Victoria’s Secret show’s grand return in 2024, plenty of Angels were keen to don their wings on the iconic runway. The cast of models included Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, Ashley Graham, Tyra Banks, Irina Shayk, and Adriana Lima, to name only a few. But what of 2025?

Many of the familiar VS crew is looking set to return, with the announcement featuring models Lily Aldridge, Joan Smalls, Adriana Lima, Alex Consani and Anok Yai. There’s also a fair chance they’ll be joined by recent VS campaign faces, like Paloma Elsesser and Candice Swanepoel.

As for performances, last year welcomed Cher, Lisa (from Blackpink), and Tyla. While there’s been no other hints as to who will perform this year, we’d love to see acts like Sabrina Carpenter—known to rock a bedazzled one-piece!—and Doechii, whose upbeat tracks would slay a runway. On that note, remember that year Taylor Swift tore up the VS runway? Let’s do that again, shall we? She is a showgirl, after all…

Tommy Hilfiger Brings Prep To The Podium With U.S. SailGP Team Capsule https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/tommy-us-sailgp-team-capsule/ Fri, 15 Aug 2025 02:42:23 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1290106 Sailing in style

The post Tommy Hilfiger Brings Prep To The Podium With U.S. SailGP Team Capsule appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
If sailing still conjures images of crisp polos and languid afternoons on the Riviera, Tommy Hilfiger is here to turn up the speed – literally. For August 2025, the American brand launches the Tommy X U.S. SailGP Team capsule, a high-octane blend of prep and performance inspired by one of the fastest, most competitive water sports on the planet.

Part of a multi-year partnership naming Tommy Hilfiger the Official Lifestyle Apparel Partner of the U.S. SailGP Team, the collection channels the adrenaline of hydrofoiling F50 catamarans – capable of hitting 100 km/h – into pieces designed to look as sharp on deck as they do on city streets. “SailGP is high-stakes and high-speed,” says Tommy Hilfiger. “It’s inspiring a new generation, and we’re proud to work with Mike Buckley and the U.S. SailGP Team as they lead this charge.”

For Buckley, the team’s CEO and co-owner, the match was obvious: “Tommy is legendary and has a sixth sense for partnering with sports on the rise. He immediately saw the potential of SailGP as more than just a sport, but as a cultural movement.”

From Deck To Downtown

The capsule leans heavily into Tommy Hilfiger’s nautical heritage – the brand’s flag logo is, after all, inspired by maritime signal flags – but with a performance twist. Hero pieces include a colour-blocked sailing jacket in a three-layer, water-resistant fabric; a piqué performance polo with sweat-wicking and UV protection; and a ripstop windbreaker lined in breathable mesh. For off-duty moments, heavyweight hoodies, graphic tees and a cosy colour-blocked sweater keep the race-ready aesthetic firmly in the lifestyle lane.

In true Tommy fashion, the palette sticks to the signature red, white and blue, giving the collection an unmistakable identity whether worn in Saint-Tropez, Sydney or on a blustery Tuesday in Soho.

A Legacy At Sea

This isn’t Tommy Hilfiger’s first lap around the regatta. Sailing has been in the brand’s bloodstream since 1985, when the open water inspired its now-iconic logo. In the early ’90s, the label launched its first Sailing Gear line, went on to sponsor solo sailor Brad Van Liew in a round-the-world race, and notched back-to-back wins at the Volvo Extreme 40 Grand Prix in 2005 and 2006.

The SailGP partnership extends that legacy into the sport’s modern era — one that’s faster, younger, and far more global. Across the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship season, the U.S. team will compete in identical boats against 11 other nations in iconic locations including New York and Saint-Tropez, all while wearing Tommy Hilfiger gear.

Where To Find It

The Tommy X U.S. SailGP Team capsule is available now on tommy.com, in Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide, and through select wholesale partners. Expect the pieces to appeal to more than just sailing enthusiasts – with their mix of technical credibility and street-ready style, they’re built for anyone who likes their prep served with a side of performance.

Or, as Hilfiger himself might put it, for anyone ready to take the classic American look… and let it fly.

As we enter August we’re somewhere between seasons, caught in that peculiar space where winter lingers but our wardrobes begin to drift toward brighter days.

The skies remain grey, the rain stubborn, yet the fashion world is already moving forward. New-season pieces are landing, fresh campaigns are dropping, and we’re craving bare shoulders, lemon yellow hues, and tactile textures that hint at spring, even if we’re still wrapped in layers for now. Call it fashion’s version of manifesting.

While Copenhagen Fashion Week serves up a masterclass in breezy, Scandi style for spring/summer 2026, Australia’s own fashion scene has been just as eventful. Aje has unveiled its first bridal collection, Camilla and Marc have opened their debut South Australian boutique, and Manning Cartell is marking 20 years with a striking new flagship in Sydney’s Double Bay.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up the fashion and beauty updates you need to know this August.

Van Cleef & Arpels Is Making Spring Eternal (And Extremely Chic)

august fashion news

Spring, but make it high jewellery. Van Cleef & Arpels’ Lucky Spring collection is your official excuse to lean into ladybirds, lily of the valley, and plum blossoms – just in solid rose gold and mother-of-pearl.

Launched in 2021, the collection captures everything we love about the season: new beginnings, good luck, and a touch of whimsy. But this isn’t twee. With its mix of carnelian, onyx, and shimmering white mother-of-pearl, each piece balances charm with serious craftsmanship.

The standout? A plum blossom motif that blooms mid-winter (because of course it does) and symbolises resilience, rebirth, and that very French brand of effortless optimism. Whether it’s dancing on your wrist or catching the light at your collarbone, it’s a subtle flex with serious meaning.

Everything has intention. Nothing feels overdone. It’s joyful, feminine, and a reminder that luck – just like style – is what you make it.

Lancôme’s latest launch, the Génifique Ultimate Dual Repair Face Serum ($215 for 50ml), leans into the industry’s growing fascination with microbiome science. At its core is Beta Glucan-CM, a repair-boosting active said to deliver trillions of skin-strengthening molecules in each dropper.

The formula also layers hyaluronic acid, liquorice extract, and a mix of pre- and probiotic fractions to address redness, fine lines, and barrier support. Free from parabens, it reflects the shift toward serums that balance high-tech actives with familiar skin-soothing ingredients. Think of it as the kind of high-tech, luxe addition your top shelf has been calling for.

This season’s additions include a choker-style necklace and a refined bracelet, crafted in white, beige, and yellow gold, alongside new yellow gold interpretations of a ring, bangle, and single earring. Each piece nods to the house’s storied Bijoux de Diamants collection of 1932, embodying the timeless codes of Chanel—elegance, modernity, and quiet strength.

Mimco’s New Charm N Cute Collection

Charm n Cute Collection
Image: Supplied

This season, Mimco is leaning into nostalgia with the launch of its Charm N Cute collection, a revival of some of the brand’s most beloved talismans reimagined for today.

Each piece is crafted using original vintage moulds from the archives, with tiny castings that carry timeless symbolism: a horseshoe for protection, a cloverleaf for luck, a heart for love, a compass for guidance, and a school crest to honour your roots.

Freshwater pearls, naturally cultivated and completely unique in shape and lustre, add a soft iridescence that feels quietly luxe. Their organic imperfections ensure no two are ever alike. The gold finish is equally considered, with 14-karat worn gold plating hand-polished to a smooth matte surface with subtle brushing for that distinct Mimco vintage-inspired look.

The hero piece is a versatile charm necklace designed to suit your mood. Wear it long, double it up, or unclip it to style as a chain. A glimmer of nostalgia you can make entirely your own.

Marc Jacobs Is Sofia Coppola’s New Muse https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/sofia-coppola-marc-jacobs-documentary/ Wed, 23 Jul 2025 00:59:01 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1287490 Fashion and film collide in the director's first documentary

Sofia Coppola is turning her lens onto longtime friend and collaborator, Marc Jacobs, for her first documentary project titled Marc by Sofia.

The film is set to premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival next month – in an out-of-competition slot – and will be the first of its kind for fashion’s favourite director.

Though details about the documentary’s content still remain under wraps, it’s likely to explore the life and career of lauded designer Marc Jacobs through a point of view that only a decades-long friendship like theirs could provide.

While Jacobs may be the subject of Coppola’s upcoming project, it’s the director who’s been the object of Jacobs’ designer eye since they first met in 1992.

Sharing the history of their relationship in an interview with Dazed in 2015, Jacobs spoke at length about the impact their friendship has had on his work over the years. “Sofia was one of the few who recognised something special and related to what I was doing at that time. She wanted to meet me, and when we did, it was love at first sight for me!”

“Not only was I attracted to how she looked, her sense of style, I was drawn to her manner, her behaviour, her life, her ambitions and creativity…” he continued.

“She represented everything I am drawn to – talent, style, creativity, a unique ‘vision and voice’. She represented everything I am drawn to – talent, style creativity, a unique ‘vision and voice’… We became great friends immediately.”

Needless to say, a documentary built on the foundations of genuine connection is sure to go beyond surface level to explore the designer and his legacy like never before.

Introducing the D-Motion: Dior’s Latest It-Bag Is All About Elegance in Motion

Dior has just dropped your new obsession – and it moves. Unveiled as part of the House’s Autumn-Winter 2025-2026 ready-to-wear collection, the D-Motion bag is where heritage craftsmanship meets 2025 cool-girl energy. Think soft curves, buttery leather, and Dior’s iconic macrocannage quilting blown up in style.

Designed with movement (and real life) in mind, this is a bag that does it all. The adjustable strap makes it a dream to wear crossbody or slung over your shoulder, while a cinched drawstring closure adds effortless practicality – no fiddling, no fuss. Inside, there’s enough space for your phone, lipstick, keys, and just a touch of mystery.

Of course, the House hasn’t skimped on the detail. The classic “D, I, O, R” charms swing playfully from the handle – because even practical bags deserve a bit of drama. It’s all in the finishing touches.

The colour palette is as versatile as the design: black and light gold for the medium size; black, ecru and powder pink in the small. Whether you’re heading to a gallery opening or just doing the school run in couture (as one does), there’s a D-Motion to match your mood.

Zimmermann’s Cruise 26 Collection

Zimmermann July fashion news
Image: Supplied

In Twisted Romance, Zimmermann charts a course through nostalgia, femininity, and escapist reverie, recasting pirate folklore through the opulent, soft-focus lens of New Romanticism. The Cruise 26 collection is a study in tension: diaphanous silks meet structured denim; corsetry softens into fluid drapery; romance flirts with rebellion.

Drawing on the visual language of vintage adventure tales and maritime mythologies, garments unfurl like illustrated pages, complete with cartographic prints, sea-creature motifs, and shell-like silhouettes. But this is no costume drama. Volume and flourish are grounded in movement, ease, and wearability.

Dramatic sleeves, boned bodices, rose-strewn waistbands, and sculptural collars evoke theatricality, tempered by muted tailoring, utilitarian cargos, and directional denim. It invites wearers to embrace fantasy and dress as an act of self-authorship.

Margot Robbie is having a Euro summer – and a seriously stylish one at that. From cool and casual looks on the streets of London to coastal chic in Ibiza, the actress’ dreamy vacay is proving to be a lesson in holiday dressing.

The 35-year-old has been making hard work of her limited luggage space (celebs, they’re just like us) with savvy re-wears and multi-tasking accessories. Mesh ballet flats, raffia bags and heels and ‘90s sunglasses have become the cornerstone of Margot’s euro summer wardrobe.

Kicking off her getaway with none other than Glastonbury, Margot showed us how to do festival fashion in 2025 with a spaghetti strap Miu Miu dress that could have been plucked straight from the ‘90s.

Margot Robbie european wardrobe

It wasn’t all fun and music festivals, with the actress moving onto a GQ event in the Oxfordshire countryside which saw the star done a Grecian inspired Jacquemus maxi dress and nude mesh Alaia flats.

At Arzábal Retiro Restaurant in Madrid, Spain Margot was spotted in a Cult Gaia knit top in butter yellow and sueded silk pants in a chocolate brown before pairing back with Bottega Veneta Lido Mules and Ray Ban sunglasses

Making her way to Ibiza, Margot favoured a relaxed yet elevated resortwear uniform of sheer black maxi dresses – the first being a Magda Butrym drop waist dress before donning a silky Christopher Esber number.

On both occasions, she styled the look with raffia accessories, re-wearing her Bottega heels and Alaia mesh flats, this time in black.

By far, the Barbie star’s best look of the trip was in Naples, Italy. Staying at the famed Grand Hotel Parker, Margot was spotted with husband, Tom Ackerly, in a strapless mini dress made from a colorful vintage elephant print tapestry by Kristin Mallison.

The structured mini style became somewhat of signature for the actress during and after her Barbie press tour, most memorably with her red Dilara Findikoglu dress.

Again, she opted for her nude mesh ballet flats, reminding us that strategic accessory packing is a must for any trip.

If you want to emulate the actress’ holiday looks yourself, we’ve rounded up her euro summer essentials, below.

Louis Vuitton’s ‘Visionary Journeys’ Lands in Osaka – and It’s Seriously Extra https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/louis-vuittons-visionary-journeys/ Fri, 18 Jul 2025 00:38:55 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1287160 Louis Vuitton’s Japan dreamscape takes over Osaka

The post Louis Vuitton’s ‘Visionary Journeys’ Lands in Osaka – and It’s Seriously Extra appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
Louis Vuitton doesn’t do things by halves – and their latest exhibition, Visionary Journeys, proves it. Unfolding across the sleek black cube of the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, this is no dusty archive tour. It’s a five-story, light-soaked, trunk-studded odyssey through 170 years of fashion, fantasy, and the brand’s long-standing obsession with Japan.

Timed to coincide with World Expo Osaka Kansai 2025, Visionary Journeys is part heritage tribute, part haute-couture fever dream. Curated by fashion historian Florence Müller and dream-scaped by architect Shohei Shigematsu (of OMA fame), it’s a love letter to Vuitton’s past, present and Japan-soaked future.

Louis Vuitton ‘Visionary Journeys
Image: Supplied

You enter through a glowing forest of Monogram washi paper columns (yes, they made lanterns out of trunks), then step into a trunk hemisphere – 138 cases forming a cocoon of imagination. It’s giving spaceship meets steamer trunk. From there, you’re off: 12 themed rooms explore everything from Asnières roots and expeditions with zinc luggage, to kawaii collabs with Kusama and Kawakubo.

The ‘Louis Vuitton and Japan’ room is a cultural mic-drop. Think tatami mats floating mid-air, mirrored on the ceiling, with everything from tea ceremony treasures to Takashi Murakami mashups on display. Bonus: spot pieces loaned from Japan’s top museums, flexing the House’s deep artistic ties.

Louis Vuitton ‘Visionary Journeys’
Image: Supplied

If materials are your thing, prepare to nerd out. One gallery deconstructs the sacred quartet – wood, metal, leather, and canvas – with sensual tactility and rotating Monogram rings suspended like a cosmic LV constellation. Nearby, testing rooms star “Louise” and “Louisette” – adorable torture devices that ensure your bag survives life, the Tube, and at least three international airports.

There’s also a dedicated Atelier Rarex space, showcasing bespoke red-carpet showstoppers made for Met Gala royalty, with the Maison Vendôme recreated as a fashion dollhouse. Oh, and if you’ve ever fantasised about owning a Stephen Sprouse graffiti clutch or Supreme x LV streetwear, the final “Collaborations” dome will send you into cardiac couture arrest.

Open until 17 September, this show is a maximalist, magical celebration of craftsmanship, travel, and cultural connection. Basically, it’s Louis Vuitton saying: here’s our history, let’s have fun with it.

Pro tip: Don’t leave without nabbing the limited-edition Visionary Journeys catalogue or exhibition notebook. Or better yet, pre-order the new Louis Vuitton Japan book before it inevitably becomes fashion’s next coffee table must-have.

Tickets? Book fast. This isn’t just an exhibition – it’s the trunk show to end all trunk shows.

All Aboard The Express: Emma Stone And Hoyeon Star In Louis Vuitton’s FW25 Campaign https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/fashion-news/louis-vuitton-womens-fall-winter-2025/ Tue, 15 Jul 2025 07:50:15 +0000 https://www.marieclaire.com.au/?p=1287042 A modern, bold look for the season

The post All Aboard The Express: Emma Stone And Hoyeon Star In Louis Vuitton’s FW25 Campaign appeared first on marie claire.

]]>
What do Emma Stone, Hoyeon, and a train station have in common? Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2025 campaign, that’s what. Shot by Ethan James Green and set against the cinematic backdrop of Paris’ Gare du Nord, the campaign reimagines travel not as a destination – but a mood. Think: fleeting glances, strangers passing, a suitcase full of secrets.

Louis Vuitton Women’s Fall Winter 2025
Image: Supplied

Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière leans all the way into Vuitton’s DNA – the thrill of movement, the romance of departure – with a collection that blends nostalgia, elegance, and a hint of mischief. There’s velvet, there’s structure, there’s a whole lot of longing.

And then there’s Express – the newest it-bag that’s already burning up our wish lists. A nod to the original Speedy (which, fun fact, debuted in the 1930s as Express), the new version is grained leather meets velvet calfskin, monogrammed to perfection, with a gold padlock and just enough polish to carry you from London to Lisbon – and back.

As for the stars? Emma Stone brings her signature cinematic charm (equal parts whimsical and powerful), while Hoyeon – Squid Game’s breakout turned global fashion force – delivers a cool, contemporary edge. Together, they embody the kind of woman Louis Vuitton dresses best: curious, elegant, and never still for long.

The collection lands in stores August 1, with pre-orders from July 25. Better pack your bags.

Can you put a price on owning a piece of fashion history? The answer is yes, and that price is an eye-watering €8.6million ($15.2 million AUD) with the sale of the original Birkin bag.

The 40-year-old Hermès Birkin bag, worn by its very muse, Jane Birkin, went up for auction at the famous Sotheby’s in Paris this week. The coveted item incited a 10-minute long bidding war before reaching the record-breaking sale price of $15.2 million dollars, selling to a private collector in Japan who bid via telephone.

The historic sale of the original Birkin bag made the iconic piece the most valuable handbag ever sold at auction.

Of the sale, global head of handbags and fashion at Sotheby’s, Morgane Halimi, said: “”The spectacular sale of the Original Hermès Birkin today at Sotheby’s Paris marks an important milestone in the history of fashion and the luxury industry more widely.”

The bag was last purchased at a Sothesby’s auction 25 years ago.

Of the sale, the bag’s previous owner reminisced, that the auction “made me relive my own bidding battle, 25 years ago, and how raw and indescribable the feeling of winning over this wonderful bag was.”

Singer, actress and style icon, Jane Birkin, inspired the first Hermès Birkin Bag in 1984.

The collaboration began after the head of the French maison, Jean-Louis Dumas, sat next to Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. Noticing Birkin struggling to keep the contents of her famous straw bag together as she revealed she could not find a sturdier, leather bag she liked, Dumas designed a piece to cater to her desire.

The design went on to become one of fashion’s most iconic, coveted and exclusive pieces, with an approximate starting price of more than $10,000 along with a vetting process to purchase – one simply can’t waltz into an Hermès store and pick up a Birkin bag.
